I have a question! My 2.5 y.o. has had almost zero socialization outside of me and her dad for all these months. Is playtime with her parents good enough for now? What are some pointers?

I worry about this too! Of course my go to is talk to her pediatrician if you are concerned! As a parent, I think playtime with you is more than good enough, its great! I worry so so much about how this will affect them. I think its much harder for tweens and teens, as they separate from parents and seek independence their friends and social life become much more important. I feel grateful our kids are young enough that we are still the center of their world and they still wanna hang with us LOL

My daughter (age 5/ only child) has a health issue (sickle cell) that essentially had her hospitalized and subsequently home bound 3 months before lockdown even happened. My daughter is extremely extroverted. She now launches into full on crying spells where she cries out that no one wants to be her friend. Shes struggled to understand the pandemic no matter how I explain. Shes still immunocompromised so I cant bring her around people anyways but its heartbreaking seeing her sob. I have days where I'm just at a loss and worried its affecting her longterm mental health. I've tried video chats but she becomes almost obsessive and doesnt want to let anyone get off the phone from the chat. She also cries after the call ends. Any possible advice is welcome at this point.

That is so so hard!!! Seeing them be so upset, worry this is going to affect them forever, not knowing what to do...
Lulu was the same with video calls, I think she was so happy to see people she never wanted to let go. We started doing more frequent very short calls, and making a plan for the next call, so she knew we'd see them again very soon. It took practice but she is fine with hanging up now. Mostly LOL
