Great review. I chose this over the Polo GT, as an overall package and also because VW does not have a service station where I live. I recall going to the showroom and telling my partner that I was not going to like Hyundais and after the test drive, I was completely blown away and booked it right away.
You cant go wrong with either the Polo GT TSI or the i20 NLine. Both are very capable and fun cars, polo has the manual fun and maybe a bit quicker in a straight line, the i20 will put a smile on ur face with its handling brilliance and sharp focus steering at any speeds.
Quoting from my Team-BHP post I took the i20 N-Line DCT for a spin. Quality and materials are the same as on the regular i20. The interior looks good with its red ambient lighting, including the black headliner. The steering wheel felt and looked better than the standard ones. It gets auto-dimming IRVM, which the regular i20 misses out on. Start the engine, and you won't hear the subtle tweaked exhaust note; it's refined and silent. Push the gear lever to D, then release the brake, and the car moves forward very gently, not at all aggressively like the Polo 1.0 TSI AT. Even when driving slowly, there is a noticeable amount of turbo lag. I noticed that it doesn't shift to 1st gear even at crawling speed while the car is on the move, and I feel that the lag is more pronounced during the initial gears. Press the TC button once to disable TC, and press it longer to disable ESP. Shift to S and go pedal to the metal, and it sounds loud and revs up to 6400 RPMs before upshifting, and it's really eager in the mid-range. The steering, suspension, and stability were much better than the regular i20 and even compared to any other Hyundai. The handling was very precise too. If I had to compare it with the Polo 1.0 TSI, I would say that apart from outright acceleration, the i20 N-Line is better in all other driving aspects.
Yes sir even if you consider the normal i20 it has a bit better feedback then previous generation i20 and is quite stable at 125 kmph as per my experience. But when I took the test drive of this N-line I am just totally blown away by its steering feedback and handling in corners. Also brakes is better in N-line then the normal one which feels a bit spongy not that sharp.
Nice Review , I just bought the N Line last week . It’s damn Good at that price point specially the stiff suspension it comes with. I have a BMW 5 , Merc GLE but I just love driving this hatch nowadays 😉 will like to connect sometime with you . Share common passion . I’m a doc from Delhi itself .
In a EURO SPEC i20 N-line you get 3-Drive Modes, Full Digital Instrument Cluster (the one in Alcazar) & 24volt Mild Hybrid System to give it a bump of 20PS more :O :D
Quite surprised by the review, initially I thought that you are a fanboy trying to justify your car, over the course you proved me wrong. Regarding the car, i felt that the imt despite being slow, holds on to gears and makes a much more pleasurable experience while driving.
Sir, I’ve booked i20 nline n8 dct? But I’m pretty confused with the colour….I should go with blue or white? I really love your channel and your videos have a big hand in my decision of buying nline. 🖤
Nice review Prithwi. I’ve got an 11 yo Punto and haven’t found any other hatch matching up to it, except Polo. Now there’s the itch, is this N-line the one?
Is the polo far inferior to the n line in terms of handling?... Also what tyres do you suggest for replacement for best performance and grip and handling
Hi Prithwi, im contemplating buying the N line dct. I own a 2018 GT TSI (DSG variant). Just wanna know if the 3 cylinder engine in the N line suffers from the usual lack of refinement that we observe in 3 cylinder pots compared to a 4 cylinder pot.
I concur with what you said in your reviews. The first thing i did after watching your videos was to immediately test drive the vehicle. The result was me booking the i20 n line and selling my 2018 GT TSI DSG. Hyundai should offer you a comission on the sale coz i wasnt even in the market for a new car. I was skeptical about the i20 n line dct's prowess in comparison to the dual clutch GT TSI and hence never even bothered to test drive one until now. The i20 n line was always a good looking vehicle with great tech however i wasnt convinced about its power and handling. Ive been using the GT TSI since it was launched back in 2013 and ive had two ownership stints from 2013-2016 followed by 2018-2023. I had sold my 2013 TSI to experience the Abarth Punto however i wasnt happy with it so it had to go and i got the TSI again in 2018. Having used GT TSI's for 8 years since 2013 i was craving for a change of hatchback which was possible only after watching your videos. I dunno if you remember me from team bhp but you gave me advice regarding getting a Petes remap on my 2013 GT TSI. Thanks again Prithwi. Now all i gotta do is wait until my n line arrives.
Great drive review. I am confused between asta O petrol MT and N8 iMT. Driven asta O and It felt good and gentle. Not able to understand, if N line is right for me. Can someone help ?
Ceat is now a synonym for s*** 😂 on another note, ZF torque converters blows almost all dual clutch transmissions out of the water. Awesome car this is considering this isn't a full blown N line i20 Hyundai offers in Europe
ZF Tq converters are nice for big motors, but for small 4pots they are laggy. I’ve one in my F30 3(ZF 8 sportshift) and it’s so much slower than the DCT in my RS245.
Hahaha… to be fair they ain’t that bad.. I mean look at the shit I was pulling on the seats.. definitely better than the MRFs my 2010 polo gt tSi came with.. day 1 I swapped to S drives on that car
Very nice review unique..i havnt seen like this before...hats off sir..i have budget of 6.5 lakh which car should i buy...nios or tiago or santro or wagon r...can u pls suggest

Real reason for getting i20 over polo: dada is used to mounting gopros on sunroof now, polo didn't have a sunroof 😂😂

Hi
I have just cancelled asta o dct and booked N8 dct. Paddle shifters was one of the reason. I hope I made the right decision.
HAHAHAA I DID THE SAME BECAUSE OF PADDLE SHIFTERS AND ALL DISC BRAKES.. EVEN I BOOKED ASTA 0 AT THE FIRST...
Don't know about polo but i can do this all day in my Figo without worrying. (Even at higher speeds)
Figo is lovely. Especially the DCT one, but then ford shut shop here.

In terms of handling and steering feedback it was never the best. Get Michelin's or Pirelli's.

Such a beautiful car the sound the farts gives me goose bumps
Is the 7 speed dct a dry clutch or wet clutch unit? Is this reliable than a dq200?!
dry clutch unit, but no issues so far..

the car looks smaller in darker colors, but if it were my choice, I'd go with the White or Grey.
