Muting the song would work, as would cutting out extended segments of me not talking. I could also change the pitch and speed of the song. Not a huge fan of any of the options, but if the block doesn't get lifted, I'll have to do one of them. 🫤

As for the lyrical content, I feel like it's speaking towards this notion of inevitable finality--the senses all trending towards death, this ripeness that has built to make one exceptional among others, this thing born in a flash of light. The whole 'You the World' line and the focus on sensory perception and death creates this connection between the two--that the world itself ends with your perception of it; that your perception of the world is what the whole world will be. In that way there's also this focus on what a flawed perception might do to someone's world--might make them see themselves or others as saints, serial killers, etc With all that in mind : The translation I am looking at has the verse "嗚呼 一つ覚えてほしい 其処の命 感じる間も無く 罪の臭い灰と成り散る" is translated as "There is one thing I want you to remember That life Without any time to feel Turns into ashes, reeking of sin and scatters" From this I take the basic meaning that the speaking voice/Kyo wants to impart the lesson that one should live in a way where they feel and take in these different senses/feelings or else their life will wither and turn to ash that scatters on the wind. The title 'Perfume of Sins' further highlights sensory perception. I wonder if 'Perfume' is meant to be evocative of false scents/sensory experiences, ones that color a person's perception and thus their world, and are therefore sinful in their dishonesty? I'm unsure. Ultimately, it's like 'If you dont even experience the world and life, you are as good as dead' because those experiences, that sensory and emotional sensation, that is the world. That is life. That is existence.
I think you're probably on the right track here. Rereading the lyrics, lines like "Living like your dead" and "Here lies another being incapable of feeling" seem to support the idea of people not appreciating life and just going through the motions until they die without ever having lived.
If one studies Ascension to higher consciousness and employs themself an active participation with both the material and spiritual world, KYO's lyrics are very positive and encouraging. If one does not study and apply syncretism in their life, the dense and literal significance of phenomena are The Only that one will be able to see. This is effectively remaining blind to true living and the Spirit Realm, by means of which everything is connected. Hence, the heavy boots of uniformed humans with weapons will end up corralling all the enslaved citizens for looming extermination.
This song and Hibiki are the only two on the album that don’t really grab me. With Perfume I don’t like the way Kyo sort of just mumbles and meanders his way thru the verses. It almost sounds like he’s still working out what he wants to do there. Most interesting thing to me is that the “black metal” part is basically the chorus. Also more power to you for trying to interpret Kyo’s lyrics. I think his wordplay and intent gets completely lost in English translations, even in the ones right there in the album booklet. Like I don’t think Kyo is the one translating, and I doubt anyone is running it by him before it gets printed. Every translation is basically someone’s best guess, lol.
Yeah, I imagine the translation is pretty surface level just translating the words rather than the meaning, but hopefully there's enough there to get a general idea of what the song is about
