I'm sitting here thinking about how I want to tell my own story of surviving stage 4 cancer. I can relate to the architipical hero's journey and the call to adventure. It's a fundamental truth of our struggle in this life and understanding that what helped me survive. This film has evoked an overlayed story of my own in my mind's eye. Good films do that to people. I think this is great!
Sometimes, trying to tell our own story just comes across as a series of events. Stories that manifest around those experiences, true enough to capture the essence of what you survived, are often the best.
I would also look at the five stages of grief. It can be hard to know what all you were feeling at any given time, but maybe seeing them all written out can help you understand the process and make sure you can put it into words.

Thank you for the kind words. Keep in mind that storytelling is inherently not modern. Modernity is all about top-down planning and deconstructing storytelling itself. 😉.
