Anybody affected by Irma, My thoughts are with you. Brook and I, are fine, but many of our Fellow Floridians have suffered a lot of damage. Keep the Florida Keys in your thoughts, as it was heavily destructed. Also stay tuned, as I will be running some sort of campaign for an Irma Relief effort.
This is real life, this is what happens when you actually go and hunt down and catch your dinner. There is blood, there is guts...my fish doesn't come wrapped in plastic, where the dirty work is done for me. Shame on UA-cam for bowing down to a overly sensitive and soft society....keep it up and keep showing the real life aspect of being a fisherman. Tight Lines!
Of all the fishing vids I’ve watched, YOU my friend are the only one I’ve seen that cuts the gills!!! Finally someone gets it!!! You gotta bleed them out for a better tasting fish. Plus, it’s just gross not too. Thank you for your proper fishing skills. I’m female, fished with my dad all my life, and thank God above he took the time to teach me the importance of the small things that mean so much. Happy catching!! 🐠
People can be pissed all they want, but as long as you did everything legally (which you did 👍🏻) they don't have a say in what you choose to do with your fish.
Bassman Dan what should be actually said is that many of these haters at the same time go to the grocery store buying intoxicated processed foods very happily. Meats and veggies pumped with shit that are killing us slowly... fair honest society..
To keep it from getting dried out when Blackening with cast iron rub the fish against the grain with softened butter and then apply the spices. I love Blackened Redfish and just about any fish with Blackening spice, but it can be tricky to pull off. I also use my grill for heat as the smoke involved will fill the house. Killer video and keep em coming.
steve rogers he's right bro I've seen EliasVfishing and key west kayak fishing getting hit. I myself appreciate how you show all the steps to preparing the food to its best potential, which I think is respectful to the fish as well.
Viktor, don't apologize again if you are eating a fish. That is the reason you fish, to eat and enjoy with your people. You honored a fish when you cook it yourself (that's another pro). You spend money in fuel, lodging, bait end etc. giving a benefit to the local economy (another pro) instead of buying fish and chips around. TODAY YOU GET MY BIGGEST LIKE!
If I'm paying $50 for bait and I catch, I'm eating it. Catch and release is for people fishing lures and cheap baits. Sorry just the way I feel about it. I wouldn't be spending that kind of money or more to be throwing shit back.
Wow whoever named this fish officially wins the most unimaginative name for an animal award. Permit?! Really?! They seriously couldn’t think of anything better?!?!
Nevere ate Permit, but as a kid, we caught Pompano on the coast of Carolina and ate them. Good tasting fish. One of my favorites we caught there in fact.
If you really want a Cajun style blackened fish, here's the recipe 1 1/2 tbs lemon pepper 1tbs garlic powder 1tbs salt 1tbs black pepper 1/2 tbs cayane pepper Mix seasoning on a plate, melt 2tbs butter in a pan, turn off and let cool some Dip filets in butter and coat thoroughly in mixed seasoning, pan sear on high, 2 mins each side, pre-heat oven to 350, place pan seared filets in baking dish, coat thoroughly in italian dressing, bake 20-30 mins or until flakey, adjust cayane pepper as need as it is CAJUN style
"I wanna keep it simple and taste the fish" >Proceeds to liberally season it with blackening seasoning... one of the most in-your-face types of seasoning.
Thank you so much ...finally someone is not doing catch and release. I am new to fishing as in just got my license to fish this year. Watched alot of videos until your video NO one ate the fish. What the heck. I wanted to see the whole process thank you very much for your informative video.
Riley Pilot better catching snook in pompano. I remember going to the pier before and catching flounder every cast. I used to fish right off of the beach early early morning or near dusk. Worked great even had success with fly rod too.
The Baha peninsula is a popular spot for Wahoo and Rooster. Both have very firm steak like flesh and both are better than tuna in my opinion. Very filling. I take leftovers and shred it up and make fish salad, just like you would with Tuna. Great for sandwiches, great on the grill, great for baking, heck I bet you could even braise it, you just can't go wrong with those fish!
I grew up and lived in Cutler Ridge now known as Cutler Bay. I'm there often I still fish the Keys often. A good friend is a guide at World Wide. We never keep permit it's kinda distasteful kinda like Tarpon in my opinion. Sure you can eat them but they don't taste so good. Catch yourself a nice blue line tilefish. Now they are top shelf eats there.
Thank you for that video, I'm thinking that fillet table may not be as good as you think? The fish slides all over it while trying to cut and that not only makes it's really difficult but you could very possibly slip and cut yourself really easily and badly while doing it.
Great stuff. You almost have to blacken food outdoors (or with a great exhaust)because if done properly there's a ton of smoke. Very informative. Thanks!
UA-cam needs to stop demonetizing fishing and hunting videos like key west kayak fishing channel and others its stupid its education and a lot of us like it
I was so happy to see that you Brook and your families are safe. There are many gamefish that have great food value and some might not like it, but like you said, there are no rules. If it's good to eat, great. I personally would never kill a billfish for food. Had some Blue Marlin in Bermuda that was boated for a tournament and the captain didn't want it to go to waste. I also had some in North Carolina from a fish that died after sounding, but no captain I know would purposely kill a billfish for food or to sell. Off Kona I had an argument with the captain about releasing marlin, but WE didn't hook up so it didn't become and issue. Never fished with him again. Of course there are many that don't have food value., eg. White Marlin, Bonefish and Tarpon.
Spraying your fillets down with a fine mist will not affect them the same as soaking in hard tap water. For that matter, neither would soaking in distilled or RO water since it contains no calcium or magnesium to affect osmotic balance
Creval Jack are really great fish to catch & cook. Almost taste like Amber Jack. They are prized here in TEXAS. I like them Tony Chacheres fish Fry cubed into 1" deep fried. And I like your Grandma, rarely eat any fish I catch. I usually give them away or catch & release Great video BTW..
Never Mind buddy you have harambe in your profile picture and you watch ducking kickboxing and drumming videos but you're the one talking shit fuck off
LOL i'm glad if this pissed people off, your catch, your fish, in season, so therefore you do what you want with it. If people don't like it, tough luck bruh, maybe one day you'll catch one as well
I’m wondering if you know about how long you’d cook on each side. Have you cooked them again since this video? I know you said you felt you dried these out a little bit.
This is my first video i've just watched from your channel but i must say , i enjoyed it and i'e just subscribed to the channel. keep making nice ones . thumbs up
Outstanding Channel, great job of filleting, I liked how you gill the fish, personally I also gut it before it hits the cooler. If you can leave it in a live well just gilled, it bleeds out even better.
Possible to fry the skin? I did that with lots of free salmon skin. Lightly sprinkled with smoked sea salt it chili lime sea salt. Heck even Johnny's taste great. I fry up turkey and chicken skin, then salted lightly. When I got back to the kitchen bless their hearts friends usually leave me just one. No more ewwws or wasted chicken-rones.
Awesome video!! Thanks for sharing! Big tip from one fisherman to another, lay an old towel down on your cleaning table and it will help secure your fish as you’re cleaning it!! New subscriber and follower!! FISH ON!!

Thanks. We didn't get much. Awesome channel
What rod did you use?
I hope all the people and businesses in the Keys recover quickly! Take good care and good luck everyone!
Landshark Fishing nice catch
those are fajita skillets...lol i know cause i just sold 2 brand new ones i never used in my garage sale..
I was highly pissed off by the knowledge that I wouldn't have the faintest chance to have a bite from that plate.
hahaha
Same here ;-;
I paid $50 for crabs once...
David Guidi lmfao dead
Anthony Kleinwachter b
Bro lmaoooooo

David Guidi lmaoo i was just gonna say that

Well said!
your doing the right thing, sick and tired of seeing angler, catching fish and released then go to the grocery to buy one.
Of all the fishing vids I’ve watched, YOU my friend are the only one I’ve seen that cuts the gills!!! Finally someone gets it!!! You gotta bleed them out for a better tasting fish. Plus, it’s just gross not too. Thank you for your proper fishing skills. People that get pissed at this don't fish don't know how to fish or don't eat fish or just haters
agreed
its like Red Drum here in N.C.,but if its within slot im gonna eat it! Blackened!
no, they are just hypocrites who care so much for these fishes.
Harper YT I'm fine with the catch and kill but in what way would it make someone a hypocrite if they weren't? Makes no sense dude
I don't eat or catch fish and it didn't piss me off lol
People can be pissed all they want, but as long as you did everything legally (which you did 👍🏻) they don't have a say in what you choose to do with your fish.
Thank you Dan
Bassman Da
Bassman Dan what should be actually said is that many of these haters at the same time go to the grocery store buying intoxicated processed foods very happily. Meats and veggies pumped with shit that are killing us slowly... fair honest society..
Im pissed that he wasted so much meat
Bassman Dan They don’t have a say in it wether or not it was legal. It isn’t their lives.
I'm only pissed off that I didn't catch and cook one...🎣🍣
Why do I watch these videos? I get so hungry! Great video mate.
I spent the whole video watching your grandma eating, either it was very good food or your granny has the biggest appetite ever!!!God bless her...lol
Wants to taste the fish proceeds to blackening it....lol.....regardless good catch 👍
hahaha
exactly what I said lol
you might want to stop bleeding fish on video. UA-cam started demonetizing some of my favorite fishing channels
steve rogers. Very true IV seen that happen recently
steve rogers is UA-cam run by vegans now?
steve rogers he's right bro I've seen EliasVfishing and key west kayak fishing getting hit. I myself appreciate how you show all the steps to preparing the food to its best potential, which I think is respectful to the fish as well.
I have been worried, but I do make sure to explain why I do the things I do. I have already had one video removed in the past.
steve rogers ahhh but but the thing is he explained the reason which follows the education rules
Permit is great for making sweet and sour fish. It holds together well and stays moist by the cooking process.
Great video! You are blessed to have a grandmother hugs to her🤗🌻
awesome channel. very professional!!
Lilly!! hey girl!!
Thank you lily
If i was to spend 50 bux for bait you dam well know that I am gonna EAT said Fish !!!
Love watching your Grandmother enjoy her meal.
I love grandma. She just comes to eat.
What pound leader and line would I need for a barracuda?
Viktor, don't apologize again if you are eating a fish. That is the reason you fish, to eat and enjoy with your people.
You honored a fish when you cook it yourself (that's another pro). You spend money in fuel, lodging, bait end etc. giving a benefit to the local economy (another pro) instead of buying fish and chips around.
TODAY YOU GET MY BIGGEST LIKE!
I like the presence of grandma, cheers
Catch and cook is the only way to go. Catch and release is a waste of time. Unless it's too small, I eat all my fish. Fish is delicious!!
If I'm paying $50 for bait and I catch, I'm eating it. Catch and release is for people fishing lures and cheap baits.
Sorry just the way I feel about it. I wouldn't be spending that kind of money or more to be throwing shit back.
Fillet and Release 🤙😁
Men Vic you got the best fishing channel in my opinion I swear,, you done catch all the fish I always wanted to fish. Keep it up men
Thank you my friend
and honestly, I like that you killed the fish right away, and not let them die of sufocation like alot of people tend to do.
Grandma looks like she approves of your catch and cook. 👍
she approved of every fish except pompano hahaha
I'm here now... Rip getting noticed.
Wow whoever named this fish officially wins the most unimaginative name for an animal award. Permit?! Really?! They seriously couldn’t think of anything better?!?!
love the way Grandma eats her dinner.
Your grandma and your grandpa look like they are nice people😀
Nevere ate Permit, but as a kid, we caught Pompano on the coast of Carolina and ate them. Good tasting fish. One of my favorites we caught there in fact.
I tried Permit once and I thought it would be similar to Pompano but it was very different in my opinion.
Much tougher
I'm Slovak and I love your grandma!
Hell yeah!
I'm in Sarasota Florida, not much damage here but no electricity, so I really appreciate your vids, thanks!
Thank you!
Alright glad to see that you and Brooke are doing fine. As usual another great video. Keep up the good work Viktor
Thank you joe
I've eaten it breaded deep fried and came out juicy and quite delicious.
Maybe thats the secret!
You could deep fry a sock and it'd be good lol
Blackened is rough with permit. Baked in parchment or fried works well.
These fish is abundant in Southeast Asia. They call it Golden Pompfret. Good stuffs when steam, bake or even fried. Not so much flakes and taste sweet
I have been affected..but back to watching good videos..good job young man...
Sorry to hear, but thank you Johnny
If you really want a Cajun style blackened fish, here's the recipe
1 1/2 tbs lemon pepper
1tbs garlic powder
1tbs salt
1tbs black pepper
1/2 tbs cayane pepper
Mix seasoning on a plate, melt 2tbs butter in a pan, turn off and let cool some
Dip filets in butter and coat thoroughly in mixed seasoning, pan sear on high, 2 mins each side, pre-heat oven to 350, place pan seared filets in baking dish, coat thoroughly in italian dressing, bake 20-30 mins or until flakey, adjust cayane pepper as need as it is CAJUN style
Duuuude this the best fish vid since I started fishing
when blackining start with a lower temp pan and build it slow after a few mins of searing flip and put in the oven for 7 or 8 mins
"I wanna keep it simple and taste the fish"
>Proceeds to liberally season it with blackening seasoning... one of the most in-your-face types of seasoning.
Yeah like others have said in the comments I'm just upset I couldn't try it! Great video
Catch clean cook all explained in details can’t ask for more thanks again I really enjoy it 👍
I from St Vincent and we eat them all the time good eating fish we call them horse-eye crevally
Seems almost like a sin to not add a little butter to the blackening process! Lol. That looks so good.
Thank you so much ...finally someone is not doing catch and release. I am new to fishing as in just got my license to fish this year. Watched alot of videos until your video NO one ate the fish. What the heck. I wanted to see the whole process thank you very much for your informative video.
Great job all the way around on this video. Don’t change anything, make more. Thanks appreciate it.
Catching AND eating caught fish. How rare. Subscribed!
what about catching these off of deerfield beach using sand fleas? those work alright for these?
Riley Pilot you're talking about Pompano
brrr I understand.. I am asking do the permit come by Deerfield and can I catch them with sand fleas off of Deerfield beach
Try boca/delray more permit there
Riley Pilot better catching snook in pompano. I remember going to the pier before and catching flounder every cast. I used to fish right off of the beach early early morning or near dusk. Worked great even had success with fly rod too.
719Moto Mx thanks.. fly rod off the pier?
Yeah you’re right
Trevally, pompano, permit, all have a REALLY hard fight
For The people who dislike the video content is like food not everyone has it
The Baha peninsula is a popular spot for Wahoo and Rooster. Both have very firm steak like flesh and both are better than tuna in my opinion. Very filling. Hopefully your friends are ok in the keys Victor
All of mine are!
Great
Like the family gathering at every end, keep it up
will do
Here I am thinking I watched ALL your videos.. came across this gem
The Largie of Florida eh? awesome video as always!
AMEN, on bleeding, gutting and salt water rinse!!
Great video! 👍 That plate looks very tasty!
Thank you!

We never keep permit it's kinda distasteful kinda like Tarpon in my opinion. Sure you can eat them but they don't taste so good. Catch yourself a nice blue line tilefish. Permit tastes fine. It's the firm texture that's wrong with it. It's a muscley fish and not a lot of fat or oil.
Thank you for that video, I'm thinking that fillet table may not be as good as you think? The fish slides all over it while trying to cut and that not only makes it's really difficult but you could very possibly slip and cut yourself really easily and badly while doing it.
Hi there Vic, what bridge is that you are fishing from?
My Dad's Boss Lives in The Key's But im Glad he is Safe and Wasn't There at the Time Cause he is always Fishing It's His Favorite Hobby
Happy to hear he is safe
Great stuff. You almost have to blacken food outdoors (or with a great exhaust)because if done properly there's a ton of smoke. Very informative. Thanks!

Exactly.
Mullet run is here u should do a lot of mullet run videos
Fished a giant pod yesterday!
I did too nice blacktip shark
What kind of bait and also what kind of set up do you use
Spraying your fillets down with a fine mist will not affect them the same as soaking in hard tap water. For that matter, neither would soaking in distilled or RO water since it contains no calcium or magnesium to affect osmotic balance

I love how the video says that it might piss you off but a bunch of softies still clicked on the video lol
hahaha
Jon ikr like gtfo he is very respectful. That's life stop being pc. know what happened 2k years ago? we fished.
Never Mind buddy you have harambe in your profile picture and you watch ducking kickboxing and drumming videos but you're the one talking shit fuck off
How does this taste compared to Tile fish?
Wow awesome stuff..nice fishing. Nice catching...who cares who is mad...and enjoy this awesome catch.
What type of bait were you fishing with?
What’s that conventional reel size for the avet? The mxl? And what’s the rod rated?
LOL i'm glad if this pissed people off, your catch, your fish, in season, so therefore you do what you want with it. If people don't like it, tough luck bruh, maybe one day you'll catch one as well
I’m in the keys as I’m watching this, Ive caught 3 of these guys so far, a 2 of them were around 20 pounds and the 3rd one was 36,
a tip for you, place the fish on some towel, it will be easier for you to cut fish, it will not slide around as much
Do u have a good place to fish for permit
I’m wondering if you know about how long you’d cook on each side. Have you cooked them again since this video? I know you said you felt you dried these out a little bit.
This is my first video i've just watched from your channel but i must say , i enjoyed it and i'e just subscribed to the channel. keep making nice ones . thumbs up
Whats the exatly seafood season you use ?? Brand/name??
Depois de uma pela pescaria não tem coisa melhor do que um belo almoço em família, isso não tem preço...
Try using a little flower next time its really good for any fish
Outstanding Channel, great job of filleting, I liked how you gill the fish, personally I also gut it before it hits the cooler. If you can leave it in a live well just gilled, it bleeds out even better.
Would it work well to suspend the fish up by the head and then cut off the tail in addition to cutting the gills to kill and bleed out the fish?
The tail is unnecessary, the gills will release the most blood!
I don't know about you guys but that looks delicious
Good job young Guru.
Thank you!
another great video, thanks, I always wanted to know about how to clean and cook permit !!!
You're right I'm very pissed off,! You caught the fish and I didn't... LOL
good vid man keep em coming
what is the season for them?
myfwc.com/fishing/saltwater/recreational/permit/
thanks buddy I love watching your videos and I eating and catching fish
Awesome video!! Thanks for sharing! Big tip from one fisherman to another, lay an old towel down on your cleaning table and it will help secure your fish as you’re cleaning it!! New subscriber and follower!! FISH ON!!
the head contains the most flavor of the fish, boiling it and making it to a really tasty soup. (the one you pay a fortune for at a 5 star restaurant)
The one permit I caught I threw back. It's a game fish. Amazing fight. That being said, I bet they taste good. Was tempted. No hate.
Excellent footage mate ! Very interesting to watch. Huge like from me
You are an amazing fishermen
