John, you got some mad skills! From wood to metal. And the best part about the X's is that the owner won't ever have to worry about the base of the tables being misaligned or wobbling over time.
Great video John. Love that you left the imperfections in the wood. The imperfections make it perfect. Also, like how you used the router to cut that table round. Gotta try that sometime.
Great work! I found your channel by trying to find out how to get a smooth finish on old barn wood while still keeping its character. I'm using wood from a barn on our property to put on top of an existing trestle table to make a farm table. What wood glue do you recommend? Thank you!
Hello John, I have built my 36 round reclaim wood table tabletop. What's the gauge of steel you used for the table and can this be used outside? Thank you
Quick question, not questioning your technique, just curious. Why not biscuits in the table top. Is it because just using glue is fit for service on those pieces?
Garage Dad biscuits serve no purpose but alignment. They're just pressed particles and not strong. I would use dominos if anything. But if you have square boards you don't need biscuits. Technology in glue is stronger than the actual wood. Furniture before biscuits still exists, and it will after. I prob won't ever use them again. Haha . But great question. Thanks for asking !!
Dude. I love these tables and your metal and wood design builds. Do you attach the table top by welding a piece of flat bar to the base and screwing it in from bottom?
Great video, and great product sir. Did you finish this with water based poly? If so, does it feel plastic-y like the oil based does or does it still feel pretty natural?
i use general finished enduro-var its pretty awesome and i'm a big fan of the top coat. With the reclaimed stuff i like the build. not sure of the chemical composition but it does leave a nice smooth surface, not like an oil
Hi John, I am from the UK and have been interested in starting a venture like this myself, how long did it take you to get to the level you are at the now? And how long do these projects take you? I'm mainly looking at it as a hobby/2nd job hopefully becoming something more. I already have welding experience through my current work.
Hey John. Were is the Pub that has your tables? We are coming to Pgh. next week and I will stop in to have a beer. Love the look and the tables. Your video work has really improved. Great web site and keep making them. FT
Finally someone who joins boards together without the complication of biscuits or dowels. Love the look of those smaller tables legs
Wood glue is so good now you shouldnt worry about biscuits. Only for alignment. The X were my favorite part too!

yes! thank you so much !
I love the natural knots and check marks in the wood. Gives it a great finished look.
Yea theyre cool!
Great build. Can't understand why this hasn't had more views. Great job.
Great video John. Love that you left the imperfections in the wood. The imperfections make it perfect. Also, like how you used the router to cut that table round. Gotta try that sometime.
Great vid, dude! Some excellent camera shots there. And love the character of those tables, especially the holes in the round edge.
ya, I enjoy leaving those in the piece. Most people cut around them or try and get rid of it. But thats the best part if you ask me!
Nice work John--Interesting construction on the X legs, I haven't seen that before--everything turned out great!
yea, probably because i made it up, but hey.... theyre still standing!
Cobblehaus? Thats only a few minutes from me! Good stuff Malecki!

Thank you! Good info. Been a welder/fabricator for a long time. Just getting into wood working so I'm soaking up info. Keep up the great work!
Do you put anything on the bottom of the legs so it doesn’t cut up the floor?
I cap the bottoms and round them over so it keeps them nice and smooth and from destroying there floor

Dude. I love these tables and your metal and wood design builds. Do you attach the table top by welding a piece of flat bar to the base and screwing it in from bottom?
Basically yes, The video for this you can see i weld boxes of flat stock and then use those to bolt the table down.
Great video, and great product sir. Did you finish this with water based poly? If so, does it feel plastic-y like the oil based does or does it still feel pretty natural?
