On the topic of skipping out on school. I had a classmate in vocational school (I think that’s what it would be called) who, in our second year, just one day decided to not show up anymore. When the teachers called his parents after a while they only responded with „the kid‘s 18 already, he can make his own decisions. In the end, HE is the one who has to deal with the consequences himself“. At a younger age I could NEVER imagine doing something like this, and even being over 18, my mom would’ve probably beaten me black and blue if I even attempted it (even though she never actually hit me xD) This is now almost 10 years ago and I still have never seen this guy again
With Call of the Night the reason the MC seems to drop out of school with no interference from his parents isn't revealed until later in the story, but this is actually heavy foreshadowing of just how atypical and messed up his home life is. He isn't abused or anything, but his mom is a prostitute and his father is completely absent and has been since as far back as he can remember.
This season is one of the rare times I’m actually watching some shows weekly as they’re airing. The only two I’m following right now are Made in Abyss and Call of the Night. I’m absolutely loving them both. Lycoris Recoil has been in the back of my mind, and now I think I might finally jump in and start catching up on that soon.
just do it, i started it just to balance a little the darkness of made in abyss, and it surprised me as how solid is it going so far. it has more than just fun action.
The two shows in the thumbnail are definitely my highlights of the season from the non sequels airing right now. Call of the Night just does setting its atmosphere 100% right and the characters are pretty fun to watch. While it’s not exactly something I’d call a good story, it’s delightful to watch every week And for Lycoris Recoil there’s this amazing contrast between the cutesy slice of life stuff and light hearted character interactions with the dark tones and messed up stuff going on in the background. Every episode just keeps getting better and better and if this keeps up, this has the potential to become my (new) AOTY for 2022. from the ones I have in mind on my ptw none other seem to be up to the task. Anyway, even if it doesn’t Chisato is sure as hell gonna be best girl of the year
So far I’m loving Lycoris Recoil. It’s action, environments, and especially character designs are gorgeous, and although the story isn’t anything special, the characters more than make up for that.
@@Tone_Of_Dials I dropped it to, though I may try to pick it back up. I felt like the show was purposely leaning harder on character appeal and not trying as hard in other areas. If you're making art, you should be making an effort to make every part great.

Your style of videos and personality really is a refreshing take on things. Even if I'm not interested in something I've always seemed to at least give the video a try because of it
A thing I feel with LycoReco is that a lot of the "why is it like this" things you also mentioned that are weird are still kind of shrouded in mystery. E.g. the commander to me seems like there's still things we don't know about her that might explain her actions, same with Chisatos "I can just casually dodge bullets" power, so I'm hoping more light gets shed on these in the future
She not dodging bullets she's dodging the person aiming and firing she dodging the trigger pull. Still extreme but the problem being how can someone be so aware of everything trying to shoot them that they can dodge their fire by predicting where they going to fire. But at least she not actually moving faster than a bullet.
I feel like not explaining why she can dodge bullets is absolutely the perfect move. Why she can dodge bullets is completely irrelevant to the story, overexplaining is for lore material made for superfans with this kind of story. She's an orphan that had a certain gift for some insane thing, and has spent all her life enduring constant training to hone her skills. Nothing wrong with in-depth exposition like in Monogatari or slow-paced world building like Made in Abyss, it's just that not every story needs everything to be explained right away. Sometimes it can even ruin a story, hurt the presentation. Something which Lycoreco is completely guilty of when it half-explains other things which only leaves us questioning them further instead of just accepting that it needs to be a fun, fast-paced story. But Chisato was handled very well imo!
Condolences to you and your family on your loss. It was a blessing to my family that my parents lived until my child was past 30. A couple of my dad's old flannel shirts are still a part of their wardrobe. Call of the Night is my favorite show this season and the music and the vibe are a huge part of that. I got tired of the lack of "intelligence" in LycoReco's intelligence work and lost patience, granted it has nice art and animation.

i have to thank you so much for this, i was already enjoying this season a lot with just overlord and made in abyss, but lycoris recoil and call of the night add some fresh content to my usual watchs. i'm not a particular fan of romantic topics, but the protagonist of call of the night just makes it perfect for me, hits somewhat close to home in many aspects.
I've looked into Black Summoner and it sounds like the most generic trope-filled made by checking a checklist stuff ever. - super-generic fantasy world - isekai - overpowered MC - adventurers guild - game-like systems, ranks, levels, etc. - demon lord
@@Shajirr_ it plays around with some of the tropes pretty well to be fair up to now, it’s not exactly the tried and true isekai there’s a little more going for it than that.
I personally picked up LycoReco because coming into Summer 2022 The Hype train was gonna be all over Rent-A-Girlfriend Season 2, in terms of anime actually airing that season. Outside of that, all the hype was gonna be on CSM, which was a few months away. I usually hit up Anichart to seek out shows I felt were gonna fly under the radar and be largely ignored. To me, for summer 2022....that was LycoReco.
I regularly use R/Anime and your definitely not wrong but there are weekly episode rankings by MAL score, karma and comments. I have a small friend circle of anime watchers and we have different tastes so when I hear one of my friends say "this week's episode was good" and see the rankings on R/Anime it does point me towards watching that series.
Review the Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime (seriously) Made by Studio Trigger, and I believe people will still be talking about it in 10 years, also believe this will be the example folks give going forward to a proper anime adaptation for a game/non anime/manga related medium. There is so much this anime does fantastically, in complete honesty I do believe this will be the reference to compare so many shows to, be it in character development, loss, tragedy, relationships, etc It hits so different
-First off, deepest condolences on the death of your grandmother. May your memories of her continue to bring you joy. -Glad to hear you've discovered "Call of The Night," as after all of the vampire shows of the past couple of years, this one feels fresh. Go pick up that vol. 2. (Oh, and a quick check of AniChart also has it listed as #1 this season. Sometimes the consensus works.) -Agreed that the present season is somewhat sparse at this time, but I consider the break useful since I can catch up on a few shows and other things before what looks to be an absolutely PACKED Fall. Only suggestions I have for Fall 2022 are 1) after reading the first couple chapters of the manga and seeing the trailer, you probably want to stay away from "Futoku no Guild," and 2) under those same conditions, I'm hoping that "Uchi no Shishou wa Shippo ga Nai" (My Master Has No Tail) turns out to be the type of lesser known but delightful series that you're always looking for. Good luck!
Chisato's ability: from the description given by the commander in Episode 3 I believe that its not that Chisato can see the bullets, its that she "recognizes the trajectory and shot timing" from looking at the angle of the gun pointed at her, and how the shooter is holding it; she uses that to reflexively predict the bullet trajectory. That's how she dodged out of Takina's shot path when Takina shot Fuki (Takina had not yet fired when she dodged).
I was SUPER stoked about Call Of The Night. Gigguk did a short video on the Manga right around the announcement that it would get an anime adaptation. And I was ON BOARD! That is until I found out that it was on Hi Dive. I only have time to subscribe to one location. Crunchyroll, with more options got my money. But I'm still pissed about where that show is. Lycrois Recoil is by far the highlight of the Crunchyroll line-up! I'm 7 episodes in and holding off for #8 because of what it seems to involve so I can catch up on the dub.
It does a great job of setting its atmosphere through the color palette. Personally I don’t mind him being 14, they’re not doing anything explicit with him. I just wished that sometimes anyone in the show would question what a fourteen year old is doing outside at night, like ask for an ID or something at least xD
@UCAeA0bquB_x1zilnN73Ti2w because, shockingly i know, some anime fans aren't pedophiles. If as you say it doesn't matter if they're young or 70, it wouldn't be a problem having characters be adults now would it.
You would be surprised how many homeless teenagers live on the streets in large Japanese cities. As long as they aren't causing any problems and no one reports them to the police, they are pretty much ignored by officers. Schooling in Japan isn't really enforced the way it is here. Even most public schools have admission fees. Especially pretty much every highschool. And you actually have to pass entrance exams to get into highschool. Dropping out in middle school isn't uncommon in Japan. Especially for poor individuals or ones that can't do well in school
One that I would recommend which is on Netflix is Uncle from Another World. The reverse of on Isekai were the character returns to the real world with their powers and tries to become a youtuber.
this is a really stupid thing to say but i think that if you were really good at figuring out where a gun is pointing, you could realistically use optical/psychological tricks to throw off someones aim enough to let you dodge bullets like that. like theres always a pretty long delay between thinking "now is a good time to shoot" and the bullet actually leaving the gun so if you were good at reading people you could probably tell someone is about to shoot noticeably faster than they can shoot using like facial tells and stuff. to anyone that read this you just totally wasted you time its literally a cartoon this is not important
on the point about chisato being able to dodge bullets. from a purely mathematical standpoint it is TECHNICALLY possible to do what she does but it would require a computer level ability to calculate. The logic is the same behind how martial artists can dodge and counter melee attacks seemingly as though they are predicting the future. Its mostly slight muscle twitches and eye movement then the brain calculates it and you react before the swing or kick comes out. With guns this can also be done but because of the speed of a bullet and range that a person can fire it (as well as the fact that a person can straight up miss) this wouldn't be feasible without an anime exaggerated ability to predict the bullet. The show does specify that what she is doing is NOT dodging the bullets but rather she lines herself up with the persons aim and watches their body language to tell when and where they will shoot. In real life you could replicate this with a machine assisted heads up display and a normal human would be able to dodge where the machine told it to.
I'm watching Tokyo mew mew new (watched the 4kids dub when I was younger so it's been very comforting) and nostalgic just waiting for a few other summer anime to be finished
The sad thing about Call of the Night is that all the vampires are fundamentally broken. They fell in love, they fell out of love, and now they live on to repeat the cycle.
21:00 - 21:17 If you really want to look for stuff that is in the diamond of the rough next season, I highly recommended Summertime Render. It technically was already airing all the way since the Spring season of this year, but the reason why you and many others may not have even heard of this show yet is because of Disney. With Disney now becoming more interested in anime, they have now started to pick up shows and make them exclusive on their platform, Disney+. Sadly, they have taken the Netflex Anime approach and killed any large discussion of the series in the West by jailing it until presumably the show finishes airing in Japan at the end of the Summer season and releases it in bulk sometime in the Fall season on Disney+. With Disney killing the show's larger popularity during its airing for the past two seasons and the mountain of hype Chainsaw Man has in the Fall season, there is little room for Summertime Render to grow an audience before it passes everyone's radar as the seasons move forward. That's why I think it would be a perfect fit for you to look once it comes out legally to a worldwide audience because I know people are going to miss this show in what is arguably the best show of 2022 by far so far, and I hope you cover it in a video so that not only more eyes have gravitated towards Summertime Render, but to help highlight the further issues in jailing shows to the public and the problem of more companies taking on the Netflix approach in the future. (The bottom half is a Copied+Pasted comment I sent to you in a prior video of yours a month ago for the overview of the Summer show, in case I missed anything that I wanted to say before in my new comment in this video.) Summertime Render is a show I hope to see you cover as it's one of the most intriguing shows to watch in the entire year so far. (In terms of new shows that started airing in 2022) It does take elements from similar anime like it but applies a unique twist to it that keeps you guessing what might happen in the next episode. The only downside I see to this show is where it's located, for two reasons. One: It's on Disney+, and since it looks like Disney has now taken the mantel of jailing its content until it's fully released, meaning it won't be legally public to the people at least until the end of the summer season lineup. Two: The content within the show does not seem to really fit Disney's core demographic which I can assume would be more geared toward children and adults that enjoy their IPS. Both of these problems are definitely why this show has been slipping under everyone's radar and killing all the hype it most likely would have garnered if it had been licensed by Crunchyroll instead. It's a shame because I believe this had what it takes to become one of (if not the) best shows to come out in the year 2022.
I know what I want. Summertime Rendering and Call of the Night so good. But I found the manga beforehand. I see the girls from Lycoris Recoil girls all the time and they're so cute and animation seems good so gonna check them out
If you wanted to check reddit's thoughts during a season, some users on r/anime put together a weekly "Karma Ranking & Discussion" thread. This season's rankings have been a bit more volatile than usual, but ignoring sequels, Lycoris Recoil is most popular, followed by Call of the Night.
My first thought when I watched Lycoris Recoil was "it's like Grisaia Phantom Trigger if the characters have in a way a life outside of being an assassin"
My prediction for the fall rough diamond in the making is going to be Encouragement of Climb season 4 :] If you ever going to make a video like this again, I wonder if you can find a source for what Japanese people are rating high, could maybe lead to shows that we ignore :^)
Wait, there are 4 seasons? I thought that was like, the second. I have to look into a SoL that managed to reach season 4. Not many new shows look worth noting next season (aside from chainsaw man of course) And that's not to say the season isn't stacked. Just stacked with continuations. I think the (second) most notable new series right now is the sword isekai, which, is kinda sad. Mostly because isekai isn't a genre I look forward to when entering a new season. It's one I test in the hopes of finding something worthwhile. Also excited for Do It Yourself. I don't think it'll be "good", but it looks like a kind of chill SoL that's just not as common as I'd want it to be.
@@nyon7209 The fourth season will be the first one to actually have full length episodes. First season only got 2 minutes per episode, and the second and third season got 12 minute episodes. I liked it a lot, so I'm happy to see it being continued :)
Thoughts for your Grandma. I hope you're able to deal with that as well you as can. Lycoris Recoil and Call of the Night are both very good (Lycoris particularly). Also, if you're not watching Summertime Render you're seriously missing out. A Lot. It's Amazing.
I'm not really getting Lycoris. But I'm glad you are. I mean I enjoyed Grisaia(VN)/Phantom triger(VN). While it does have a bit of a slap stick to it. I'm enjoying Isekai Ojisan. Maybe it is just the nostalgic side of things. I've also read the manga.... so it is most likely just me enjoying a good adaption. Yofukashi no Uta is super comfy kino. The manga is pretty great. If the anime follows it. Should be a good one. The sound design an the animation so far is pretty great
It's a shame that nobody is watching Yurei Deco. It's like most people saw the first episode, thought it would be just another social media anime, and then dipped, but it's really incredible so far
I'm watching made in abyss (of course), devil is a part timer (the miraculous season 2) and overlord. I watched the first episode of isekai uncle but it felt like it was more for gags than plot. I was really surprised by the crunchy roll top anime
i've seen people compare isekai uncle with konosuba, so if the humor is in the same level, i don't see any problem with that... maybe i give it a try, just to ease the "oh, what now?" from made in abyss. overlord is performing better than the previous seasons for me, and i enjoyed the other three.
I've been watching any other thing and avoiding Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer to find that diamond in the rough. Summertime Rendering, Lyco Reco, Ojisan sekai became my favourite watch now
I was already planing to get tokyotreat. i mostly just check the seasonal descriptions and based on that i watch them also agree this season is kinda dry but the good ones this season are really good.
On the subreddit anime, they have a once weekly post that takes all the karma for the week and puts it in a list. That's the way to find what reddit likes.

i have to thank you so much for this, i was already enjoying this season a lot with just overlord and made in abyss, but lycoris recoil and call of the night add some fresh content to my usual watchs. i'm not a particular fan of romantic topics, but the protagonist of call of the night just makes it perfect for me, hits somewhat close to home in many aspects.
More! I need more glass content!!!
Literally never heard of anitrends
The ones I've been enjoying most this season are Summertime Rendering and Black Summoner
Summertime Rendering so good
I've looked into Black Summoner and it sounds like the most generic trope-filled made by checking a checklist stuff ever.
- super-generic fantasy world
- isekai
- overpowered MC
- adventurers guild
- game-like systems, ranks, levels, etc.
I have a small friend circle of anime watchers and we have different tastes so when I hear one of my friends say "this week's episode was good" and see the rankings on R/Anime it does point me towards watching that series.
yeah those two been on my watchlist all season, just haven't gotten around to them yet.
Review the Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime (seriously)
Made by Studio Trigger, and I believe people will still be talking about it in 10 years, also believe this will be the example folks give going forward to a proper anime adaptation for a game/non anime/manga related medium.
There is so much this anime does fantastically, in complete honesty I do believe this will be the reference to compare so many shows to, be it in character development, loss, tragedy, relationships, etc
It hits so different
My condolences for your grandmother. :( I hope the service was beautiful.
Thank you for the recommendations. I had trouble finding anime this season. I did not know about anitrendz I'll use that more, it seems useful.
Next time you want suggestions from r/anime, check out the ranking list that's released on sundays
Sometimes the consensus works.)
-Agreed that the present season is somewhat sparse at this time, but I consider the break useful since I can catch up on a few shows and other things before what looks to be an absolutely PACKED Fall. Good luck!
Love your videos
Have you check out "Summertime rendering "? Just curious. it is still airing as of now.
HE’S ALIVE!!! Hope you’re taking care man!
That's still bullshit here just like when it was done in Equilibrium.
That explanation doesn't make the entire thing less ludicrous, tho (but it's fun, so who cares)
Im an anime-pirating gigachad, so cant relate to that
I like Call of the Night, it gives me Monogatari vibes. Just wish the MC was a bit older😅
It does a great job of setting its atmosphere through the color palette.
Personally I don’t mind him being 14, they’re not doing anything explicit with him. I just wished that sometimes anyone in the show would question what a fourteen year old is doing outside at night, like ask for an ID or something at least xD
Call of the Night gives you Monogatari vibes because it's made by the Monogatari director.
The Director did Monogatari
Sorry to hear about your Grandmother. Glad you took your time though, love your videos :)
this is a really stupid thing to say but i think that if you were really good at figuring out where a gun is pointing, you could realistically use optical/psychological tricks to throw off someones aim enough to let you dodge bullets like that. like theres always a pretty long delay between thinking "now is a good time to shoot" and the bullet actually leaving the gun so if you were good at reading people you could probably tell someone is about to shoot noticeably faster than they can shoot using like facial tells and stuff.
to anyone that read this you just totally wasted you time its literally a cartoon this is not important
on the point about chisato being able to dodge bullets. from a purely mathematical standpoint it is TECHNICALLY possible to do what she does but it would require a computer level ability to calculate.
Isekai Ojisan is pretty good this season too!
Are you going to look into Fuuto Pi?
Run with Wind. Why haven't you reviewed it? Please do it! This Anime deserves it!!!
Sorry for the loss of your grandmother. Hope you're doing ok
2:53 scared the hell outta me. Thought someone else was in my office with me. lol
Thanks for this.
I really wanna check out Recoil! It looks super cool!
its so damn good
It's cool. Very cool. That's all. It's got no other value.
i haven't been active on your channel but if you haven't yet done it then i'd like you to give us an anime recommendation list
They struck me as very manipulative, while Nazuna is less so, which makes her more likable.
There is also Isekai Ojisan and Summertime Rendering from previous season. Both are way up there imo
I always wait for Siri Yamako cause they've been a patreon support for so long and I like how he says their name OwO
When we getting more Review Videos?
(The bottom half is a Copied+Pasted comment I sent to you in a prior video of yours a month ago for the overview of the Summer show, in case I missed anything that I wanted to say before in my new comment in this video.)
Summertime Render is a show I hope to see you cover as it's one of the most intriguing shows to watch in the entire year so far.
I see the girls from Lycoris Recoil girls all the time and they're so cute and animation seems good so gonna check them out
from what it looks like call of the night is about to go through a major tone change. Even looks like we are going to get some vampire combat
Uncle from another world has brought me much amusement
If you wanted to check reddit's thoughts during a season, some users on r/anime put together a weekly "Karma Ranking & Discussion" thread. This season's rankings have been a bit more volatile than usual, but ignoring sequels, Lycoris Recoil is most popular, followed by Call of the Night.
I could feel a wave of emotion at around 4:10. I don't really know what to say, just know that somebody out here felt something.
I need more snack sponsors cause the cuts to randomly snacking feel... Idk right? I love them at it fits so we'll lol I wanna get a box now
My first thought when I watched Lycoris Recoil was "it's like Grisaia Phantom Trigger if the characters have in a way a life outside of being an assassin"
You are a place that I go to for those recommendations 😂
Lucifer and the biscuit hammer is a great manga, I didn't know they finally made an anime!
My prediction for the fall rough diamond in the making is going to be Encouragement of Climb season 4 :]
If you ever going to make a video like this again, I wonder if you can find a source for what Japanese people are rating high, could maybe lead to shows that we ignore :^)
Re: _Call of the Night,_ i never knew i needed a vampire version of Hotaru from _Dagashi Kashi_ but i ain’t mad at her 😁
I'm not really getting Lycoris. The sound design an the animation so far is pretty great
Good Video GR
What is happening at2:53? I am confused.
It's a shame that nobody is watching Yurei Deco. It's like most people saw the first episode, thought it would be just another social media anime, and then dipped, but it's really incredible so far
these two sound good and I'll check them out at some point
I'm watching made in abyss (of course), devil is a part timer (the miraculous season 2) and overlord. I watched the first episode of isekai uncle but it felt like it was more for gags than plot.
I was really surprised by the crunchy roll top anime
i've seen people compare isekai uncle with konosuba, so if the humor is in the same level, i don't see any problem with that... maybe i give it a try, just to ease the "oh, what now?" from made in abyss. overlord is performing better than the previous seasons for me, and i enjoyed the other three.
some people skipped the bokksu sponsor segment, and it shows.
I've been watching any other thing and avoiding Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer to find that diamond in the rough. Summertime Rendering, Lyco Reco, Ojisan sekai became my favourite watch now
Ark: If your society is so great, why do you have so many orphans?
My brain: *Glass Shattering*
Next season my most hyped anime to watch is Reincarnated as a Sword. I have been reading the light novel and has been my favorite series to read.
I was already planing to get tokyotreat. i mostly just check the seasonal descriptions and based on that i watch them also agree this season is kinda dry but the good ones this season are really good.
A new gun anime is a win in my book, we need more of those... I NEED MORE OF THOSE... A new season of Black Lagoon when?
My man mentioning Phantom. Was good series back in the day.
On the subreddit anime, they have a once weekly post that takes all the karma for the week and puts it in a list. That's the way to find what reddit likes.
2:50 double recording?
Im really in joying these 3 new animes Yurei Deco, Isekai Ojisan and Luminous Witches
Fuuto PI is must see anime!
I recommended to watch all movies of Satoshi Kon Like Perfect Blue,Millenium Actress,Tokyo Godfathers,Paprika and Paranoia Agent excellent anime movies
Could you go and watch Fuuto Pi...
Hey why we didn't get to hear you opinion on violet evergarden ending movie ?🙂
I know your watching Made in abyss S2..are you "enjoying " it so far?
Man the last ep was legit ep of the year material , this anime is peak fantasy
16:00 Well... _loads gun_ You have to meet the quotas somehow.
