just wanna clarify that the magia record mobile game's english release did not get shut down after being in service for just over a year due to lack of popularity, it was a very active game, but due to anipliex completely screwing over the game by continually pushing out limited banners (there were four or five in one month) and making it so even whales were having to pull back and not spend too much. if they kept the game at the same pace JP has been at they probably would have still kept it around
Finally someone talking about Case studies of vanitas. Its made by the Jun Muchozuki who did Pandora Hearts and the manga is sooooooooooo good. People are sleeping on this series for sure.
For what it's worth, as I understand it, a lot of the OVA material for Higurashi was either adapted from goofy sidestories Ryukishi wrote or otherwise were just the handiwork of DEEN's staff entirely. Gou and Sotsu, for as many...questions as I still have about the ongoing plot, are at least entirely written _by_ Ryukishi himself and aren't adapted _from_ anything but rather are original television projects, which means they're less likely to stumble with the traditional hurdles of bringing a VN to screen.
Yes! My love for winter has been validated by Mr. Glass Reflection Arkada himself. People used to look at me weird for liking winter. Winter lovers assemble! Tell the world of your winterly love!
Yooo, winter lovers assemble. I love winter. The heat is the worst, especially when you live near the equator and deal with upwards of 40 degrees Celsius everyday!
Vanitas's source material is by Jun Mochizuki, who wrote Pandora Hearts, which is honestly my favorite manga ever. No spoilers, but I'm caught up with the manga of Vanitas and it's legitimately very entertaining so I don't think you'll be disappointed if Bones is doing the adaptation :)
For anyone interested my thoughts on the 3 isekai of this season (except Slime, because sequel): - How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom: honestly pretty good Kingdom Building style isekai, the protag is someone with a good grasp of works like Machiavelli's The Prince, The Art of War and The 36 Stratagems and uses them to stabilize a small country on the verge of economic and military ruin; - Seirei Gensouki: "boring" is a good description. Has the extra of probably several people being Isekai'd along with the protag but the pace is so slow any conflict takes several chapters in the LN and manga to resolve; - Tsuki ga Michibiku Douchuu: Hard skip. The premise is interesting with the protag being cast aside by the Goddess and swearing revenge while allying with the neutral monster races, but squanders everything by having the protag choosing to play merchant instead of anything else, something he has absolutely no skill in.
Was always a big fan Arkada. Sorry that I've missed the past few videos. Sadly don't work at a place that will let me listen to stuff as I work anymore. But I'm here for this video and the recommendations!
Aside from some sequels and maybe one romcom I’m gonna check out the only one that’s caught my eye so far is Vanitas no Carte. I hope enough peopl watch it and talk about it
Actually, Spirit Chronicles is a pretty interesting and unique show. You have the people who were in the bus who were transferred into young people and have two sets of memories, one japanese and one native to the land. Then you have the six heroes who were all summoned from earth and have magic weapons, super powers and can speak the languages of the land. And then you have a couple of tag-alongs who didn't get any cool powers and can't communicate with anybody other than the heroes. Time seems to flow backwards from earth, because they were taken from earth several years before the bus accident, and the MC is family with some of them.
Nah, I can (almost, but not quite because I'm not psychic) guarantee you'll dig Vanitas. The manga is really great, and since it's a split cour show, you don't have to worry about it being too short, ending just as you're about to *really* get invested. It'll be a Best of Season contender for sure.
I like this format. Really going through all the shows and not just your top recommendations. As sometimes my tastes may differ however I really respect your perspective.
I've caught up to the manga recently reading chapter 53-59 in basically one go, and then I remembered why I always took a little break of 2 weeks up to a month between reading these.... pain, just pain xD

Summer 2021 for me personally resulted in another TOP-10 interesting anime shows. I wonder if it somehow intentional of the anime studios, they usually make exactly 10 anime for my taste in the whole season of like 30-40 anime. My list: 10) Mother of the Goddess' Dormitory 9) I’m Standing on a Million Lives Season 2 8) The Dungeon of Black Company 7) Girlfriend, Girlfriend 6) Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles 5) Drug Store in Another World: The Slow Life of a Cheat Pharmacist 4) Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy 3) How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom 2) That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2 Part 2 1) My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! X
Love Live is pretty good at balancing the cast, and Superstar has only 5 girls instead of the usual 9, so it should be even better at it. I've only recently gotten into the series and I've been loving it. Great music and fun characters
Man i can't believe you didn't watch Sonny Boy directed by Shingo Natsume, who worked as a director for OPM and Space Dandy who will also direct tatami galaxy's sequel. That show is definitely a hidden gem of the season just like Oddtaxi was, but this time it didn't get the recognition it deserves. I really reccomend you check it out, it's like lord of the flies but surreal and is a coming of age story. It has great visuals, great OSTs, and overall great story and themes.
BTW, Go Nagai didn't make Getter Robo. Ken Ishikawa did, and he's been dead for a decade. What makes the Getter Robo Arc adaptation so special was that it was not only the last manga he made, but he died before he could finish it. So many fans such as myself are speculating if the anime will get a proper ending or leave it off on the cliffhanger like in the manga proper.
Nice to hear your opinion on this season. And yeah, summer is a 5/10. As a manga reader, I'm excited to see The case study of Vanitas. It's a solid story, Bones is good, and hopefully, it will be, like, 12 episodes. Doubt they'd do for an original ending, like with Pandora Hearts (which is by the same creator as Vanitas)
if I am remembering correctly from the novel, for realist hero the main character is a college graduate majoring in civil engineering which only really happens to help him from time to time. usually it helps him only because the world he is in is much less advanced, but even then there are things that world has that his knowledge can't help with, like magic, so it's not like his knowledge makes him all powerful in the story. that aside, it is a harem story and largely acts that way so it 100% isn't for everyone
Vibing with that **Hinamatasuri** shout out at 17:50. I tried to get a friend to watch it, but the had no taste. (didn't realize its obvious brilliance)
Liking the revised format Ark, as i appreciate hearing your thoughts on ALL of the season’s shows, including those you don’t plan on watching. I imagine doing so made that much more work for you, so thanks for going the extra mile 🙂 You also pointed out a show that i wasn’t even aware of (Fena Pirate Princess), as it doesn’t appear on MAL’s seasonal list, presumably because, in a flip of SOP, Crunchyroll will be airing it this season in NA, but it is being delayed until next season in Japan, with MAL following suit, listing it as a Fall release. I hope they reconsider, as i don’t think you can track your watch history on shows that have “not yet aired” 😕 Oh, and very much agree on 14:06 …watch more Hololive! (not that i have any more free waking moments to spare 😅)
For some reason this season is going to be extremely nostalgic and look like your typical anime set from 2014 or even 2011, so I'll have to watch pretty much everything lol. I mean, when was the last time you saw so many SoL harems, funny ecchi, horrors, original ambition shows and fantasy shoujo in one season?
Kingdom needs a dub Because I got up to like episode 3 in the newest season and I'm finding it absolutely impossible to follow. Why? Because the names for everyone and everything seem to change constantly throughout each season... It's very jarring. On-top of it using Chinese names (I think?)... I'm just not used to their naming conventions compared to Japanese. Feels like watching sub for the first time again when I try to pronounce the characters names.
I already have 13 anime lined up for this season, and plan on adding more once the season starts and I can check things out! Last season I had 25 anime on my list, so we will see where it ends up this season! I am HYPE! XD
Just lived through the Portland record breaking heatwave by locking ourselves in the bedroom with the only a/c unit and just bunkering down for three days watching anime, so your opening bit is hitting too close to home right now 😂
The Duke of Death and his Maid is a fantastic manga imho! Love it! I wish it's anime counter part would look better to do it justice, but if it helps to spread the word I'm on board!^^
How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom reminds me of the Kingdom of Landover book series. I enjoyed them, so I might like this anime. I really want to see the new Higurashi series. And yes, I agree that it is awfully hot. I often say something similar to what you said, Arkada, but mine is, "You can put a bunch of layers on in winter, but you can only take so many off before it becomes illegal." Thank you for putting these reviews out. They are much appreciated. ^_^
Also looking forward to Realist Hero. On top of that I can't wait to get my hands on three movies of third Fate/Stay night series heavens fall. I decided to binge them altogether. Currently watching To Your Eternity. I don't have the extreme weather problem of you guys. Never gets too hot or cold where I live.

I'm just happy Dragon Maid is coming back. I'll accept and smile if the quality isn't as high, because it's still based on the same manga, so I've got no reason to think it'll be a BAD season. Turns out, you can't kill a dragon with fire.
Fun Fact: there is usually a switch on the fan hub that changes which direction the blades spin. Make sure the fan is pulling warm air up to the ceiling, not pushing warm air down to the floor.
Thank you for this video. *You know Pushing Daisies* :) . The Irregular had some promise, as a nuanced, limited and _non-thirsty_ OP, in an interesting world, but heavily baited and lied to people, before going hard on the incest; it had some potential, but shouldn't have lied about, what for a lot, will be the deal breaker.
I was surprised when High Score Girl's animation didn't throw me, so I'll probably check out The Duke of Death and His Maid. Sounds really interesting. So... Jahy-sama Won't Be Discouraged is basically just The Devil is a Part Timer, but with more Moe? I mean, I'm in, but it also sounds like I've seen it before. I've been waiting for Dragon Maid season 2 for so long. Honestly, after the fire, I never thought it would happen. Villainess was both my and my wife's favorite anime of that season. I think this is the first show she's actually be hyped with me over since she doesn't watch anywhere near as much anime as I do.
I'm very much excited for Vanitas since it's Studio Bones and apparently by the same author as Pandora Hearts. I hope this one doesn't get left hanging though. I'm also really interested to check out Girlfriend Girlfriend. Not that I'm expecting much from it but I just think the premise sounds like a lot of fun. Also, may I ask what was that anime with a similar premise that you ended up hating? And well, I'm looking forward to binging both seasons of Villainess to see what all of this is about. 😁

I look at other people weird for loving summer too much. I think the heat caused some form of Stockholm syndrome on their brains.
@@membou lmao that is such a creative way to put it. The more I think about it, the more I laugh! Thank you so much for this 😂😂😂
Heard Canada is having a extremely hot summer this year... sympathy from Norway.
Hear some places got to 50 celcius....... those house are built to retain heat.
It’s a lot of pain. Been 30 degrees consistently for the past month or so, it was up to 40 for three hours at on point.
I'm one of the few people that can wholeheartedly agree with you about summer
Yooo, winter lovers assemble. I love winter. The heat is the worst, especially when you live near the equator and deal with upwards of 40 degrees Celsius everyday!
I don't love -40 with wind chill, and tons of snow and slush everywhere
@@Ash_Wen-li extremes of any kind are dangerous and annoying, but I for one would welcome snow over burning heat any day of the year
Oh same, though winter where I am is mild, so it’s nowhere near as bad as it is for most.
Your perception of winter vs summer is exactly why I love winter over summer!
I really liked this format, it allows for more anime in the same amount of time it used to take in previous seasons
didn't realize how much there was I'm actually more hype for new stuff than any returning shows
Thank you for the upload! Among the highest quality of anitubers, especially on the writing end. Been watching for many years.
For anyone interested my thoughts on the 3 isekai of this season (except Slime, because sequel):
- How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom: honestly pretty good Kingdom Building style isekai, the protag is someone with a good grasp of works like Machiavelli's The Prince, The Art of War and The 36 Stratagems and uses them to stabilize a small country on the verge of economic and military ruin;
- Seirei Gensouki: "boring" is a good description. Has the extra of probably several people being Isekai'd along with the protag but the pace is so slow any conflict takes several chapters in the LN and manga to resolve;
- Tsuki ga Michibiku Douchuu: Hard skip. The premise is interesting with the protag being cast aside by the Goddess and swearing revenge while allying with the neutral monster races, but squanders everything by having the protag choosing to play merchant instead of anything else, something he has absolutely no skill in.
The duke of Death and his Maid looks like High Score Girl which was surprisingly good so I hold its the same.
And, the maid looks soooooooo frogging hot!
Last time I was this early...
I wasn't disappointed by the president's volleyball, singing, and dancing skills.
Wow, u rlly try to fit ur online persona
ua-cam.com/video/6To2s_4Zs-g/v-deo.html I think it’s backlog time. Almost nothing this season really stuck out to me.
Was always a big fan Arkada. Sorry that I've missed the past few videos. Sadly don't work at a place that will let me listen to stuff as I work anymore. But I'm here for this video and the recommendations!
That’s nice and all but Made in Abyss is getting a S2 and game we need to talk about it‼️🚨
and live action adaptation 💩
@@AtatiS yea still on the fence bout that one but it’s still early
Aside from some sequels and maybe one romcom I’m gonna check out the only one that’s caught my eye so far is Vanitas no Carte. I hope enough peopl watch it and talk about it
You should watch sonny boys first episode, it's out, and that first episode was fucking amazing.
18:18 Sounds a lot like Ascension of a Bookworm but without the business angle....
Nah, I can (almost, but not quite because I'm not psychic) guarantee you'll dig Vanitas. The manga is really great, and since it's a split cour show, you don't have to worry about it being too short, ending just as you're about to *really* get invested. It'll be a Best of Season contender for sure.
I think it’s backlog time. Almost nothing this season really stuck out to me.
Vivy is cool
@@a_m_e_r_y9718 I think they mean Summer
I like this format. Really going through all the shows and not just your top recommendations. As sometimes my tastes may differ however I really respect your perspective.
Well, next year Grarkada can watch Made in abyss season 2, something I'm sure he will be happy about.
I've caught up to the manga recently reading chapter 53-59 in basically one go, and then I remembered why I always took a little break of 2 weeks up to a month between reading these.... pain, just pain xD
Can't wait for that. The movie was amazing!
Grakada? When did he get the "GR"? Or are you just making fun of how he grunts at all the new anime :D
@@Kirkmaximus I'm not making fun of him. If you search for user Grarkada on UA-cam, you end up at his channel. This link proves it: ua-cam.com/users/GRArkada.
@@ikaros1564 GR for Glass Reflection. lol.
I read the first couple volumes of Vanitas years ago because I love the mangaka, and honestly I'm looking forward to seeing everything animated.
Summer 2021 for me personally resulted in another TOP-10 interesting anime shows. I wonder if it somehow intentional of the anime studios, they usually make exactly 10 anime for my taste in the whole season of like 30-40 anime.
My list:
10) Mother of the Goddess' Dormitory
9) I’m Standing on a Million Lives Season 2
8) The Dungeon of Black Company
7) Girlfriend, Girlfriend
6) Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles
5) Drug Store in Another World: The Slow Life of a Cheat Pharmacist
4) Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy
3) How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom
2) That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2 Part 2
1) My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! X
I'm so excited for Dragon Maid S! Ilulu is wonderful and behind the 2 large objects that have stolen your gaze, lies an equally large heart.
The first 20 seconds of this video are a big mood
Sonny Boy is looking to be the best thing this season
BTW, Go Nagai didn't make Getter Robo. Ken Ishikawa did, and he's been dead for a decade. What makes the Getter Robo Arc adaptation so special was that it was not only the last manga he made, but he died before he could finish it. So many fans such as myself are speculating if the anime will get a proper ending or leave it off on the cliffhanger like in the manga proper.
Your thoughts on summer are exactly like mine, friend. I feel like I'm barely existing in this heat.
100% agree with weather mindset. Easier to heat up than cool off.
Pandora Hearts is one of my fav manga and Yuki Kajiura’s osts in the series was heaven. Vanitas made me even more excited this year
I really love how well this youtube channel is run! Thank you for all the effort you put in!
Yess he mentioned getter
if I am remembering correctly from the novel, for realist hero the main character is a college graduate majoring in civil engineering which only really happens to help him from time to time. usually it helps him only because the world he is in is much less advanced, but even then there are things that world has that his knowledge can't help with, like magic, so it's not like his knowledge makes him all powerful in the story. that aside, it is a harem story and largely acts that way so it 100% isn't for everyone
Am i the only one who giggled when he said "you cant beat it"... no? good! glad its not just me
"Ain't no thing but to swing" as a background track? I see you're truely cultured.
Anyone else think Oddtaxi was the best anime of last season?
Easily the most underrated and best original anime of the season for sure.
I’m not sure if I’d call it the best, but I did enjoy it.
Easily the best one featuring a Capoeira Llama. I heard Bruce Springsteen liked it.
Better than the Spider anime. It had so much potential and dropped like a sad bolder.
Though, To Eternity has potential to be somewhat special.
Easy, that was def the best since Vinland saga imo
You got a like from me just because you are making more people aware of Pushing Daisies.
I hope they reconsider, as i don’t think you can track your watch history on shows that have “not yet aired” 😕
Oh, and very much agree on 14:06 …watch more Hololive! (not that i have any more free waking moments to spare 😅)
I’m legitimately scared for the staff at Mappa
Good video. Personally I'm kinda hyped for Vanitas no Carte and Peach Boy Riverside
Btw, Fena: Pirate Princess is coming out in october
Yes and No….crunchyroll will broadcast it sometime in the summer they said
youjo senki season 2 was confirmed, im so happy
never expected battle in 5 seconds to get an anime adaptation FREAKING HYPE
amazing manga, hope they don't screw up the anime
Even if Getter is not your cup of tea, I'm still glad you still atleast knowledges it for this season comapare to some anitubers for this season
For some reason this season is going to be extremely nostalgic and look like your typical anime set from 2014 or even 2011, so I'll have to watch pretty much everything lol. I mean, when was the last time you saw so many SoL harems, funny ecchi, horrors, original ambition shows and fantasy shoujo in one season?
love this. wasn't sure if anything good was coming but I have been shown the light
This was a great and helpful video, thank you for making this!
That intro is me in summer. I feel ya man i feel ya
So no mention of the Fate Grand Carnival? It’s been 10 years and we finally get another Carnival Phantasm
Life lessons with uramichi is actually really funny based in the first episode
All these CGI anime trailers looked amazing. Not sure how they distract you. lol
Anyone has watched KINGDOM? The newest episode is insane.
The manga is awesome. The anime is in one of its biggest arcs
They are still making Kingdom? I watched the first season years ago and loved it!
Kingdom needs a dub
Because I got up to like episode 3 in the newest season and I'm finding it absolutely impossible to follow.
Why?
Because the names for everyone and everything seem to change constantly throughout each season... It's very jarring.
On-top of it using Chinese names (I think?)... I'm just not used to their naming conventions compared to Japanese.
Feels like watching sub for the first time again when I try to pronounce the characters names.
Hyped for Kobayashi S2 and Jahysama!!!!!
Canadian releases video intro at the end of June complaining about summer heat. Arizonan looks up and thinks, "You're barely at our spring heat."
I already have 13 anime lined up for this season, and plan on adding more once the season starts and I can check things out!
Last season I had 25 anime on my list, so we will see where it ends up this season! I am HYPE! XD
I wouldn’t sleep on realist hero, the LN was really good and it’s an interesting concept that plays out well
Hey, I say the exact same thing about the weather. You can always put more on, if you take too much off you end up in prison.
Just lived through the Portland record breaking heatwave by locking ourselves in the bedroom with the only a/c unit and just bunkering down for three days watching anime, so your opening bit is hitting too close to home right now 😂
4 years since Dragon loli… I was in Tokyo while it aired. Fhana playing everywhere. It’s been so long and I’m getting so old.
I'M SO EXCITED FOR REALIST HERO OMG
Vanitas no Carte: I sleep
Adapted from manga by Jun Mochizuki: REAL SHIT
If they give a hint about umineko anime after sotsu's end credits...I WILL LEGIT DIE FROM HYPE
Battle in 5 seconds is getting an anime?!? oh hell yeah!
"The Duke of Death.." premise is the same as in "Pushing Daisies" (2007)
Holy shit I had no idea you still uploaded
I grew up without air conditioning and now I can't live without it, I get the feeling my parents hated me.
Liked the light novels but I can't imagine how a story that dense can translate to anime. Going to watch it, keeping expectations low.
@@Jason_Quinn Not sure about it myself, but I'd like see how it goes and if they do it well. I hope you enjoy it.
@@jcdf2 Lucky. But I'd rather have cold. It's amazing. Also, I want to binge several anime, like Spice and Wolf, but life gets in the way.
this is not technically an "anime" (it's donghua, meaning produced in china), but i would highly recommend "Link Click" if anyone is looking for something interesting to watch. it just finished airing fairly recently and it was a very good watch! time travel (ish) and mystery, if that tickles your fancy
Look I respect you. Shana, Index, Fullmetal Alchemist, Durarara, Kino journey, magic high school, railgun part timer devil, Log Horizon and something else.
@Ann-Go To My ChanneI! L!VE NOW I never watched Getter Robi arc. I don't know what you mean there. I still like and respect Glass reflection. I only mentioned Shounen series and Dengeki Bunko anime series in that past comment. Log Horizon I grew tired of it dew to the Inconclusive ending season 3 left me in. I may come back to it Once season LH 3 gets more Episodes than 12.
Don't bother talking to her. It's a bot. That it responded with a comment that has nothing to do with your comment. Look at other comments with low interaction and you will find similar bots.
I'll for sure be watching Sonny Boy and Kobayashi S2... and that's probably it
I'm just happy Dragon Maid is coming back. I'll accept and smile if the quality isn't as high, because it's still based on the same manga, so I've got no reason to think it'll be a BAD season.
Turns out, you can't kill a dragon with fire.
Dude I'm not gonna lie dragon maid sucks. Kanna Carries the show.
Battle 5 In Seconds After Meeting sounds a lot like Darwin’s game lmao
Grand Blue was the best comedy of 2018. You've been atted.
Looking forward to Dragon Maid! Missed KoyAni!!!!!
Summer life hack: Ceiling fans. Makes AC way more effective
Fun Fact: there is usually a switch on the fan hub that changes which direction the blades spin. Make sure the fan is pulling warm air up to the ceiling, not pushing warm air down to the floor.
Apart from RE-MAIN and The Case Study of Vanitas, this is a season to work through the backlog- of which there is plenty!
Major Senku energy in the beginning there
Well idk your expectation, but Vanitas's manga is great, so if Bones can keep up the quality, there's a high chance you won't be dissapointed.
Oooh, Sonny Boy is done by the people from Acca 13? I'm totally sold, I loved that show!
Summer 2021, the summer of sequels
And isekai harems
And Sonny Boy!
@Rita 25 y.o - check my vidéó Umm... I'm not sure if your comment is addressed to me or not, but I know nothing about that show. I just know I've heard the name before. 😁
Hololive is also doing the ending I believe for Jahy
