Untitled goose game is the first game we bought for our first switch. It was my daughters Christmas present last year and she had been asking for the goose game for ages. We had a real laugh playing it in co-op last Christmas. Shed watched it so much on UA-cam she knew exactly what to do and got her little bossy head on, we absolutely loved it, it just felt too short ( though that's probably because she knew where to go) if someone has a family I highly recommend it.
I'm definitely going to pick up some of these, but I'm very happy you included The Last Campfire. It's like a love letter to kindness, helping other embers make it back to warmth is so cathartic and the puzzles are challenging too. I only wish there had been more puzzles! Also The Talos Principle is THE puzzle game to beat imo, it's very well done and as hard as the puzzles become, they always make you feel smarter for having figured them out.
I got grindstone a while back thanks to this channel. One of my most played games on the switch this past year. I keep going back to it. Can’t wait to try shovel knight
Love it! Great to hear! It’s funny, I rarely drop reviews after release but that one struck a chord with me and I released the video a week after release date and it did so well! Love that fact that there’s an audience for it
Not necessarily top 20, top something though yes lol. This was just a case of I wasn’t willing to cut off what I felt was some fantastic games. JRPGs is on the way though, I’m trying to decide if I separate our action RPGs, it’s all a pain figuring out where things fit lol
I started with the intention of a top 10 and ended at 20 lol, after your 4 years into a consoles life cycle, your cutting too much at a top 10 honestly, or atleast, that’s how I felt about it
Yeah it’s considerably longer than normal but I couldn’t choose just 10, I didn’t wanna cut so many because it’s so close, most my lists over this next couple of weeks will be 10 lol
@@Ser-Smiley appreciate it! First of many top lists! Gonna have a fair few now with the year ending and releases slowing down, I’ve done a few in the past but now wanna make it part of the end of the year for the channel!
I was pleasantly surprised to see Wilmot's Warehouse included on this list. Definitely one of the more overlooked gems on Switch. I agree with (and have played) nearly all of these games, and don't envy you the job of compiling such a list, considering how many solid options you had to choose from. I personally would have included Loop Hero somewhere on this list, as figuring out the perfect combination of tiles, equipment, class, etc for each stage of the game is quite the puzzle, at least for me (not to mention addictive as heck). Also, Puzzle Quest is a game I've sunk way too many hours into. Definitely agree w/Tetris Effect as number one, tho. Overall, tremendous job! Hopefully this will help a few others find some new, great games to sink countless hours into.
Thanks Fenyx! Loop hero for me, I think it’s gonna fall on my strategy list! It was the first game to come to mind but I agree, like so many games, it crosses genres!
@@SwitchCorner That's fair. Genre-crossing games are some of the best to play, but the hardest to define for videos like this. That said, you certainly do a solid job "puzzling" it all out!
Tetris Effect Connected handheld on the OLED is therapy. The HD rumble with audio visual feedback, its so good. I can agree with it being one of the best games on Switch, hands down!

It’s in the works Jeremy, has been for a long time, it’s difficult though because music is what gets you copyrighted so it wouldn’t be best soundtracks but rather, here’s a list of great soundtracks. What many don’t know I was a sound designer before this and I specialized in audio restoration, composition occasionally and then my big thing, I did foley work. That’s why I always try to shout out music on the channel, it’s got a place in my heart, adore it
@@SwitchCorner fair enough. Yeah, the copyright issues are challenging on youtube. I've had to use the "fair use" option a few times for when I've done re-scores of film music. That's cool that you're experienced with sound design, composition and Foley. Foley is an under-appreciated and difficult job! Good on ya. Keep up the good work. Love your channel. Ps, you've probably been asked this a lot, but where's the accent from? Northern England, Newcastle area? Scotland? Or am I way off? Wales?
Birmingham! But I force my voice in videos so people understand what the hell im saying. Well that and no doubt my moves have influenced it, I did 7 years in london, 1 year in New York and the last 5 in Arizona
Manifold looks so fun, but I know it would make me sick. Maybe I'll watch a playthrough :) Found a couple I think I'll love! The donut one is hilarious. Bought that super quick when I got my switch.
Sigh **opens wallet repeatedly** Superb and expensive video for my favourite genre. Your subscriber count will grow significantly before long I expect. Thanks champ 👍
@@rossrobbins7707 Thanks for your thoughts. It’s literally been sitting there for over a week, as many other games are, just waiting for me to start them up. The art style/gameplay in Grindstone is what drew me to it and the recent sale helped solidify my library. Looking forward to getting started with it.
Talos Principle #19? Understood this is a list for the Switch and that it’s subjective. This is one of the best pc puzzle games of all time ( dlc road to Gehenna might be even better) Creaks is an amazing game on switch which unfortunately was omitted. Also Bonfire Peaks is brilliant
I think The Last Campfire was the first Switch game I actually finished. I didn't get a Switch until last Christmas so I hop from game to game to play catch up.
Hey Serge! I have like 7 tracks in here given the length of the video! They are all Jones meadow though, you’ll find him on Spotify! Has some seriously chill pieces with that electronica style, worth checking out and it’s allowed for UA-camrs!
@@SwitchCorner added on Spotify thanks I'll have a listen. You might like Mutt and Utah Jazz 😎 Tetris Effect Connected should be my next purchase, i grew up on OG gameboy too and consider myself to be a bit of a guru!
Yes, Talos Principle. My most coveted trophy on my ps4 is from when I unlocked the solipsist achievement for getting the best ending with no hints. Some of the secrets I couldn't quite piece together still haunt me. What a weird game.
Thanks for spreading the word about these games! I've added World of Goo, Superliminal and Manifold Garden to the wishlist. Superliminal currently on sale at an all time low in the UK!
Alex love hearing about which games are in your physical collection. Not sure if you have or have thought about it but would you ever do a segment focusing on your personal physical collection? Rare/grail items, ones w good packaging/extras or even just the ones you've ended up playing the most? Cheers!
FEZ and TETRAGON are the two games that I was surprised NOT to see on your list. I would have placed RETURN OF THE OBRA DINN and SUPERLIMINAL higher on the list, but my preference would also have pushed Tetris off the list since I'm just not that big of a Tetris fan.
Thanks for another great video! You've consistently put out quality content ever since I started following you, and that was when you were well under 5,000 subscribers! I can't wait to pick up several titles on this list. Have you played Roundguard? It's clearly inspired by Peggle, and Peggle (especially when played with the clickwheel on an iPod classic!) is one of my all-time favorite puzzlers! Roundguard for sure has some faults, but in my opinion it's totally worth playing. Thanks again!
My favorite on the list is Talos Principle. This one is for Portal fans and that’s definitely me. Portal 2 is in my top 5 games of all time. I found the challenge to be perfect without making me rip my hair out. You won’t be disappointed.
@@BeugsTheLegend yeah I always have to wait for a sale too, I waited a while but got it for 15 I think last year. Such an amazing satisfying game if you put it all together on your own, it makes you feel like a genius when your done. Waiting for outer wilds to hit switch next.
I'd be hard-pressed to choose between Grindstone and Tetris Effect for the number one spot to be honest. I only picked Grindstone up in the black Friday sale and it's great ( i also picked up slay the spire and played that like a week later, but it's taken over currently and is all i play), but yeah, Switch is a great system for puzzle games, and that fact that it is portable helps, slow-paced puzzle games are great for bus/train journeys and the like. Edit: Also great to see Talos Principle on there, that often gets overlooked as it's a first-person game, but it really is a great puzzler. (i'd highly recommend "The Turing test" also, it's a similar sort of game but set on a supposedly abandoned space station on Europa).
I'm waiting for that shovel knight puzzle dungeon to go on sale but Alex convinced me to get grindstone a while back the Lego game might be good for my kid
I know that it's not canonically considered a puzzle game, but I think Into the Breach deserves a mention. I've always felt you need to approach it more like a puzzle than a tactical game, but of course this is just my opinion.
I'm not sure I'd classify Donut County as a puzzle game. There were a couple of puzzles, but not too many. IT is, however, a favourite of my 4 yr old who plays it over and over and over.
I was thinking the same thing so I checked the official description and they called it a puzzle game. I didn’t know where else to put it as well, I don’t have a plan for a top 20 weird games haha
The game I liked the most, Manifold Garden, I absolutely cannot play. Vertigo sufferer here. I would be done in. There are 2 I'm considering. Although I own a few on other consoles and PC, I wouldn't mind getting them again for the Switch especially numbers 2 and 1. 😊 Lastly, I played Donut County just this past summer. Chill game. Fluffy Cube is another good one I played over the summer but it's not on this list. It's short with a few challenging levels.Worth checking out, IMO.
I don't have the time to watch it right now, but it is a wired list to publish on a day when "shovel knight puzzle dungeon" released. I wonder if that is included in the list.
That was the influence, I had a massive hardware failure earlier in the week causing me to lose all game footage. I loved what I played though so this was my way of getting coverage out for it. Didn’t wanna let them down and not have anything out so I just pulled my end of year puzzle list forward!
Thanks Alex - loads more to add to my wish list! Just playing Ironcast at the moment and really impressed with its puzzle/RPG/rogue-like mechanics. Sadly it looks a bit dull and generic - don’t let that put you off though - it’s really good :)
Slayaway Camp is a killer puzzler for a killer price! Absolutely loving it and highly recommend it! Thanks for all the other recommendations and eager for the puzzle platformer list!
Unbelievable. I thought when getting to no3 that no1 and 2 were obvious but they weren't on the list at all. Brothers Tale of Two Sons Rime For puzzle experiences, these two games are some of the best I've ever played. In fact they are some of my favourite gaming experiences ever. Also missing Valiant Hearts that was a pretty good puzzle game. I would also say My Brother Rabbit was an amazing puzzle game but it isn't strictly puzzles. It is a hidden object game that's full of puzzles too.
Wow. I own every single one of these. Guess i love the genre. Talos principle should be a little higher on the list on my opinion. Absolutely love that game.
I bought Grindstone after watching your review and it's an amazing game. They have added loads of new things like extra levels and characters for free. I've completed it now but still loads to do and just been updated for Christmas with a new set of levels.
I’ve only played Death Coming on iOS, but I know it’s on Switch and I’ve definitely had a lot of fun with that one! It’s a great puzzle game that looks similar to Good Job! on your list. Thanks for the recommendations! Love the channel!
I’ve played a lot of these and love so many! However I haven’t played your top 3. I want to play Catherine so bad because I love puzzles and Persona but am waiting for a good sale. I’ve been debating on downloading Grindstone on my iPad so I may have to do that now. And I also wanna checkout Good Job and Return of the Obra Dinn. Personally on my list I would have had Scribblenauts Unmasked, because I love DC and the game mechanics in general. I also really dig Slayaway Camp 2. It’s so quirky and gets challenging!
I finally got Catherine Full Body. As a puzzel fan, it's great. But maaaan those cut scenes are so long unskippable redundant-anime-esque it's hard to actually sit through the story mode. Like, let's go, next level ladies c'mon.
Talos Principle is an easy number 1 pick for me - quite possibly my favourite puzzle game. So many wonderful "ah-ha!" moments, perfect difficulty curve, fantastic story and flavour and amazing variety to the puzzles. And no trial and error! Obra Dinn probably takes second place. I definitely prefer puzzlers where you can take your time rather than the more frantic style of Tetris, Grindstone, etc.
I agree beautiful game, I picked it up on sale because I forgot to download it with plus. Tbh though I think with PlayStation I’ll be a little more general with my top list of best games just because I’m not a full time UA-camr so I just can’t find the time. Quite honestly, I think maquette would be in my top list of games on PS5
@@SwitchCorner Agreed. That and Kena Bridge of Spirits. I absolutely fell in love with that game. Beautiful artwork and amazingly fluid and fun gameplay. I just wish it was longer because I wanted more. I bought the digital and then the physical too just to support them so maybe they’ll make a sequel.
Buddy, when you're saying the title of something you should avoid randomly adding the words "now" or "then" immediately afterwards. To anyone who is only listening to the video it makes it much harder to understand what you're saying. It's a funny quirk though. I'll give you that.

Shovel Knight looks nice.
But it gets boring after a while. A finished like 6 "movies" and had enough.
Unbelievable. I thought when getting to no3 that no1 and 2 were obvious but they weren't on the list at all.
Brothers Tale of Two Sons
Rime
For puzzle experiences, these two games are some of the best I've ever played.
Thank you for recommending My Brother Rabbit 😊
What about Red and Kiwi?
imagine typing "number 1", "number 2", .... for the timestamps instead of the games' actual names xD
I finally got Catherine Full Body.
As a puzzel fan, it's great. But maaaan those cut scenes are so long unskippable redundant-anime-esque it's hard to actually sit through the story mode. Like, let's go, next level ladies c'mon.
Story is worth it!
If you do this list for ps5, you should consider Maquette. Loved this puzzle game although the story is kind of sad.
Grindstone is awesome and addictive
The rock sold his soul long ago for that dollar
Yeah puzzles!
Thanks for watching Matthew, this will probably be a quieter start to my top lists to end the year but puzzles don’t get enough love!
I would switch tetris effect with puyo puyo tetris 1/2
Well hello there Wilmots Wearhouse, you sneaky little simplistic puzzler you.
Don’t let it deceive you! Genius game but challenging and I love it
@@SwitchCorner oh ya that’s what I meant by simplistic puzzler. It looks simple, but I can tell it’s a tough one
So addictive,l! Good to give it some attention, it’ll be showing up in the co op list too for sure
you have missed the game unravel 2
Mom hid my game?
Not played it, fantastic profile picture though!
Ho ho hOLED
Buddy, when you're saying the title of something you should avoid randomly adding the words "now" or "then" immediately afterwards. To anyone who is only listening to the video it makes it much harder to understand what you're saying. It's a funny quirk though. I'll give you that.
