  • From a legendary musician and band todays Metal Masterpiece is Death’s The Sound of Perseverance. Death is considered one of the pioneers of Death Metal which is now of the the largest genres of metal. The band went through many phases even progressing technical death metal and progressive death metal further than many bands ever have. The band always contained incredible talents, but their leader Chuck Schuldiner was the most talented. With his growl and his guitar he ripped through 80s and 90s with amazing release after release. Many consider this to be the pinnacle of the band. Is it a masterpiece in my eyes? Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Never got the label “wankery” some people refer to in this Album as.. musicianship is off the roof. The sound of this album is so different from what they help create on the first two albums, it throws Death metal purist off. But from a Metal Fan who have listen to Metal and many of its incarnations for 25 years, this album is at the very top tier of Death and Metal overall.
Death Metal purist dislike changes and are more use to the simplicity of what the genre originated, but coming from a musician and and Artist, I believe Death got better with time.
The first two records are fine and super important to the genre, I however do get bored of them as they can sound a bit premature and childish in some areas (they were teen aged kids at the time), this is really obvious on the drumming department.
The Sound of Perseverance was not made to please Death metal fans. It was meant as a love letter to Heavy Metal as a whole. Was Chuck’s way of expressing his discontent with the idea of being encapsulated in a specific genre.

Definitely agree with some points I tend to like the higher pitch with this album less bit it's still very iconic nevertheless, I have a lot of love for the first album for it's rawness but I tend to spread my music out a lot so I tend to rarely wear out albums I enjoy
