Japanese have a hard time expressing themselves emotionally in public, so this song made a HUGE impact, and was an instant hit. It was being sung everywhere in karaoke that year. A very STFU and leave me alone -song

Yep, Voice acting and music seem to be a big outlet for some Japanese to Express themselves, it's no wonder anime characters feel over the top because the people behind them are too restrained in real life

HA HA HA HA, HOW DO YOU SAY CON ARTIST SHYSTER IN JAPANESE? IN AMERICA WE HAVE TELEVANGELISTS THAT TALK MONEY OUT OF PEOPLE USING PSYCHOLOGY. LIKE THE SINGER FROM X JAPAN GOT ROBBED. BAD INFLUENCERS PRETEND TO BE COOL BUT ONLY WANT MONEY. THEY ARE POSERS. IT IS A COMMON CON IN AMERICA THAT POSERS ACT, "COOL", TO SELL THEIR REALLY HORRIBLE NASTY MARIJUANA. YOU ARE, "COOL", TOO IF YOU BUY THEIR GARBAGE MARIJUANA. YOU ARE, "COOL", IF YOU GIVE MONEY TO THE, "COOL", REACTORS, HA HA HA.

Yes so I agree with the song. Although I love many parts of Japanese culture, Japan has intense issues and the people causing them are not people like Ado, but the one‘s she addressed in that song, these type of people who we could call „Japanese Karens“ should just USSEEWA for good! They can keep their point of view and opinions obviously, but they should keep them to themselves.

She was 17 when she recorded this.
If you want to feel her voice range, the cover song "脳内革命ガール" is the best choice, it's so amazing that it's hard to believe it's the technique of a 17 year old. Metal musicians will love this song

I mean, considering this song apparently stirred up controversy for the meaning behind it I guess Ado and syudou were *right* they *didn't* need to use physical violence instead of words. The reaction to the song literally proved the actual point they were trying to make. Jokes on the critic, I guess!

“Crime and punishment” is one of my favorites from Ado, there’s an actual scream in the middle, its like a screech as it trails but there’s a ton of growls and stuff, it’s a cover from another famous singer but it’s sick🙏

No, she didn’t write the song. Another (I don’t know how famous, but probably) fairly famous Japanese artist, Syudou did. He also did the music. He’s also really good too, and mainly does vocaloid songs, but sometimes does self-covers of his songs! He’s famous for Bitter Choco Decoration, and a few others. He’s really good, and his lyrics are really catchy! His self covers are also amazing.

Hey Champ :) No- she doesn''t write her own songs- especially now she has all the best song writers in japan clammering to work with her! THIS song that made her blow up, apparently the lyrics were forwarded to her from some disillusioned businessman! The song was a huge influential hit with younger generations- theres hundreds of covers- but it was really disliked by japans older generations for obvious reasons- their whole society is about conforming and dont stand out or cause trouble for others.
And also NO, she hasn't shown her face. She's whats called an Utaite - (they been around like 20year or so) - someone who does their own singing covers they upload to nico nico - their videos only feature the lyric subs and animations clipped from other videos etc- and an utaite never shows their face. Kinda the opposite of idols- its all about the singing. Most of them never want to be a famous personality. Not to say if they become very popular they CANT go more mainstream and maybe start doing concerts, albums etc but few do. Ado has 2 albums now.
IF you want to 'see' her as much as is possible- on her channel is a piano only very of usseewa- and it just shows a distorted, swaying reflection of her singing the song. You can't make out much beyond she is young with a black bob cut- but you can see how passionate she is singing, swinging her arms about etc.
To recommend 2 more Ado- crime and punishment - its a Sheena Ringo cover- very jazzy raspy/screamy cover. And if you've not heard it yet, backlight - from the new onepiece movie album- its the best song on the album and especially in terms of instruments its got some nice bass lines and guitars).

i've honestly never heard anyone who dislikes ado (besides the people in japan, who disagree with her messages) and i'm so proud. i started listening at the start of 2021 and fell in love with her voice instantly. she's the first musical artist i've ever obsessed over, and honestly i'm fine with that.
i didn't really plan what to write here besides how much i love ado, but i would love to see more of you reacting to her. it makes me so happy to see other people discovering her and listening to her. i just feel so proud of how far she's come.
if you're looking for other songs to look at, i'd recommend crime and punishment (tsumi to batsu - originally performed by ringo sheena), fleeting lullaby (utakata lullaby - from one piece film red) and also readymade, which is my all-time favourite ado song.

This right here is the closest we ever got to seeing her… you can actually see like „how“ she sings you know the body language, the gestures, how she moves and acts while singing which was very important for me.
Other than that I respect her privacy and think it’s so cool that she basically had a normal Highschool life while already being famous because literally no one knows who she is and those few people that do know somehow actually manage to keep the secret to themselves which is amazing!
I love her story, her storytelling, her voice, the music… the people she works with are just as ingenious as herself… well maybe almost, but the songs are so well put together like special tailored sounds of the deepest heart of a goddess of music, like a daughter of a siren and a muse…
Her voice really kinda captures you instantly and just floods your whole being with this unique energy and vibe and in my opinion she is easily the best singer I’ve EVER heard, no exaggerations, by far!

One other thing I wanted to mention about one thing you said about being a voice actor and with crazy amount of voice ability. From my understanding, at least for female voice actors, not sure if it is a bad for guys. But if you want to get into voice acting work in Japan you need to be able to sing as well, not just act.

Many people, especially from overseas, mistakenly believe that this song deals with social issues but it's about "Chuni-byou 中二病." Chuni means "2nd year in middle school," byou means disease or syndrome. There's nothing more lame and cringe today than singing about those stereotypes straightforward and seriously. People in Japan who don't get the true concept find this song lame and hate it. She doesn't show her appearance.

I don't know what they call it in japan, but Ado is one of the singer that didn't reveal their face. There is many of them in japan and they usually either don't have a MV (just the sound track) or use animation for their MV like Ado.
So to your question. No, Ado never actually reveal her face and probbably never will.

"Utaite: (歌い手) is a Japanese term for people who cover previously released songs and post them on Nico Nico Douga and UA-cam under the utattemita category. The term "utaite" is unique to Nico Nico Douga singers, making it different from Kashu (歌手), which means "singer" in general."
Though Ado has clearly moved well beyond this I believe this is the world she came from.
I wonder if there comes a point where her celebrity is so huge that maintaining the secrecy becomes to much work?

@@highjynxx Exactly, but that usage is like Internet slang, and the word "utaite" itself, like "kashu", has always meant singer as well. (BTW, the literal translation of the category term "utattemita" (the subject is abbreviated, as is often the case in Japanese) is "I tried singing". It seems to be usually translated as "me singing".)

I'm not surprised the song had been seen as Controversial. In Japanese warkaholic culture a song like this?
I mean the song is literally Snapping & verbally chewing your boss out for All the corporate BS you got put through.
