If I was seeing this right you'll get 96 ohms between terminals 30 and 87 if you get a 96 ohms that relay closed between terminals 30 and 87 and you need trash it. those contacts are burned up you should be between 30 and 87 you should get right at zero.
Clicks with battery. No resistance. Bad?

Good simple video...did this for my relay it clicked but when testing resistance it was still at zero. Have exact same multimeter. Had idea relay for car was going bad as tapping it turned on the ac.

Does your test detect voltage drop over the switch?
97 ohms across closed contacts is not good at all.
At the end of the day, I just went and bought a relay tester. I have too many to checks and I doubt I can do it correctly
Which leg are you testing? Asking as a novice
Pin 85 is Relay coil - negative
Pin 86: Relay coil + positive
The bottom of the relay is usually numbered, you might need a magnifying glass to read them.
The battery touches 86 and 85.
When testing the coil resistance with the multimeter they should be on 86 and 85 as well.
When using the alligator clips to test the switch resistance the positive should go on 86 and the negative on 85. (That's what I learnt). Then touch your multimeter cables to the other two relay pins.
Those last two are usually labeled 87 and 30.
What if i don’t get reading its a bad relay ?
One relay I tested came back 45.7 resistance is that bad ?
He said 50 to 200, so I assume it’s time for a new one
96 ohms on a set of contacts seems bad to me. Sure, it’s not open. But that’s a lot of resistance for something that should basically read 0
heres my confusion it had 96/97 ohms without power and had same resistance when it was energised

Yes. Resistance in closed switch has to be as close to 0 ohms as possible.
