For those still curious about using the Leichtlauf High Tech vs Molygen (both 5w-40), I emailed Liqui Moly about it and this was the rep's response: "Unless you have extensive modifications and track/race your MB CLA 250 you're best of by staying with the Mercedes approved Leichtlauf High Tech 5W40. Molygen New Generation oils are designed more for tuned and high performance cars that are used for weekend racing and although these oils may help generate increased power when driven hard they are not going to provide as much overall protection when used in daily driving in a stock vehicle". - Stefan Braun from Liqui Moly. This is the direct quote from them (few typos but I'm guessing that's just due to a language barrier). He did go on to recommend a few additives but it sounds like just using the LHT instead of Molygen is more than sufficient for daily use.
Wel, thats nog good news. Can you perhaps share the email adress please? I dont want to talk to the local reps here. I want to talk to the guys making the stuff. Appreciate it.
I received about the same response from Stefan: Use Leichtlauf High Tech 5W40 engine oil. This oil will support ring seal and reduce blow with the help of its very string lubricating film. Add Ceratec to the new oil this time then every 30,000 miles/50,000km to reduce friction and increase protection. Ceratec will help the piston rings move freely and will reduce timing chain wear by penetrating each chain link to reduce friction and wear. It will also add extra heat protection throughout. A very effective way to reduce wear and improve overall performance Also this oil change then every 20,000 miles/30,000km/2 years add Motor Oil Saver to the engine oil to help refresh rubber-based engine seals. Rubber based seals harden and shrink with age and Motor Oil Saver will prevent or reverse that process. If your engine is consuming oil, it may be because your valve seals are aged and hard. In that case adding Motor Oil Saver will soften these seals and reduce oil consumption. It will take approximately 400-500 miles of driving before the treatment have completed.
@@Juscaps Absolutely, Molygen really isn't meant to your average daily, unless you're pushing boost or have a heavy tune, or if you're breaking the engine in for the first 1000 miles. High Tech is the way to go with Ceratec or MoS2, especially for German engines.
Kinda random, but I felt like the liquimoly American rep was trying to one up the German guy. It seems like he was trying to cut him off more. Lol. The German guy is like relaxed, while the American guy is trying to prove he knows more.

They do not bring it into the country, nor officially sell it here in the states, we can only purchase this from online amazon vendors in Europe/UK. I am curious as to WHY that is the case. ??? I have the Ford spec meeting, 5W-20 Molygen oil in my 1.6 liter, GTDI Ecoboost engine in my Fiesta ST currently, and it is a bit disconcerting to just now be finding out that this product is viewed almost as a racing oil by LM. The starting TBN is not ridiculously low, like one would expect in a pure racing oil, albeit not all that high like some other oils (Ravenol DXG, etc.), The volatility % IS higher than many other premium synthetics though, which i would think one would really NOT want in a 'street high performance' oil, let alone a 'racing' oil. ???? LM's description 'copy' also states that it is a good oil to help prevent LSPI in GTDI engines, DESPITE the relatively high volatility number, one of the reasons WHY I chose it in the first place. I only do 4K-5K oil change intervals, MAX, but that could be a whole year for me to reach that mileage. Is this oil OK for me to use as a daily driven street oil, despite the low starting TBN? Should I go back to my old standby, Ravenol DXG (which I viewed as superior to LM's Ford spec meeting Special Tec, and why I tried the Molygen) even though yes, it is one viscosity higher than what Ford specs in the U.S. for this engine?
I ran mobil1 synthetic in my benz r350 for years i took to mechanic to do the dreaded intake manifold issue and he changed out the oil with liqu moly and now my car burns oil especially on startup!
