    i think you need to click on UFO to lock on the missiles to fire, when you start you have a lock, but when you move aircraft at the beginning, the lock clears and you need to click it again

    With the missiles not firing, I think you need to left or right click on the enemy ship to lock them on? There’s a red diamond around the enemy ship that indicates the missiles are targeting it, which will make them fire. You had that in the first run, but not the second.

    that sentry gun looks honestly quite good, like if this was the aliens universe can absolutely see it being the precursor to the UA 571-C we all know and love

    I'm still early in the video but I bet the deployment team for the ambush mission were very happy to have the element of surprise on their side instead of having to rush and blind like normal.
    Knownthe videos are in batches, but I was saying "Put me in coach, Put me in!" When I saw where the UFO landed. Looking forward to the next one o7

    Experienced team + shotguns with point blank initial placement means an ambush mission can be done in one turn.

      I could definitely see that working.
      I suppose I'm just prone to trying to give my soldiers more rigidly established roles/loadouts, which makes me less prone to swapping around their primary weapons. :)

      @@RetconRaider Now I'm wondering if there are enough loadout profiles that you can have a baseline for each soldier - swap at will then swap back. I've had a few "okay what was this guy doing now" moments but as long as they have heavy armor and high explosives things will work out.

    I don't get it, where is enhanced by alien alloy shield? You can make stopgap armor and stopgap firearms, but not shield?
    It's a pity that accelerated firearms don't use prototype guns like G11 or AN-92 for their base model to better differentiate themselves.

      I'm hearing there *are* enhanced shields, but that it requires a different project to unlock them. :)

      We haven't lost anyone yet, it's a miracle :D
      I think I was at least down 5 or so at this stage of my most recent playthrough. I lost 3 guys in one mission due to a fumbled nade toss.

    Since throwing forces units to stand up, make a toss first crouch later would be good for the ambushes. Otherwise, wonderful ambush and episode!

    When I have criticizing grognard thoughts, I try to keep them to myself. They do slip out sometimes, though.

    Loading up some torpedoes for the medium+ ships can be super effective. That or switch to twin cannons.

      Unfortunately, it seemed to exceed our hardpoint or weight limit when I tried to equip them on Angel-2. I could still fit them, but only if I also removed the autocannon or ablative armor.

      @@RetconRaiderHmm, I think there will be a certain point where you have to drop the armor for more damage and rely more on evasion and teams of fighters to keep planes in the air. Either that or better fighter models, which might not arrive for a while. Armor doesn’t reduce damage I think, only adds a bit of health? You’ll need to double-check me on that, but if that is correct, the small increase in health isn’t worth it for the ability to shoot down bigger ships faster in my opinion.
      General tactics are one plane doing the tanking and evading while the others get behind and shoots up everything. I don’t remember how to do it but I think you can manually reduce a plane’s speed, so you can do it while on the enemy’s tail to keep your plane on them for longer before they pass by.
      I did notice last episode how you kept your plane going across the enemy’s arc of fire, allowing you to evade shots more often. Though it might work now, later on more maneuverable enemies may be able to keep up - a tactic I’ve seen someone else do to reduce damage is to instead afterburn straight at the enemy craft, rolling to avoid shots, to try and pass them to get behind the enemy as quick as possible. You could try continuing your tactic though and use afterburner to turn faster than the enemy can turn, I’m interested to see if it results in less damage overall.

    Interesting putting the snipers there for the ambush mission! I saw someone else put their machine gunners there to fire down the line and suppress a bunch of people. It’s cool to see your take on it.

    You can evasive roll with your keyboard shortcut, don't have to click with mouse.

    I am very curious if there is something in the code that make a ship possibly land for repairs or something if it is damaged enough.

    I really don't see the appeal of this game. It looks and plays far worse than Enemy Unknown and all the points Retcon raises about missed opportunities are exactly right. Whilst I understand they have a much lower budget, so graphically and sonically it won't be as good, that doesn't excuse its many other deficiencies.
    This game gives the impression that it came out 20 years ago and adds nothing to the genre. Every episode I hope to see something new and innovative, but so far, only the aerial combat looks marginally better than that of XCOM.

      This game isn't trying to innovate on Firaxis' XCom, it's trying to modernize Xenonauts 1 which itself was a modernization of the original XCom which is fundamentally a different game than the Firaxis take on XCom. They're really only thematically similar while being mechanically different beasts entirely. That's not to say this game is perfect as is, but it's unfair to say that this is a bad take on Enemy Unknown when it's not even meant to be similar.
      Most people now days are only familiar with Firaxis XCom, so it's easy to see why people make the comparison. It's still a comparison akin to a comparison between American football and rugby. They may appear to thematically be the same game, get the ball to the other end of the field, but underneath they're built on totally different rules and played in totally different ways.

      @@CowCommando I see no point in this game. It's a minor improvement on the original UFO: Enemy Unknown aka X-COM: UFO Defense, and vastly inferior to XCOM enemy unknown. If it had come out 20 years ago I might have seen the point, but not now. It's also hardly any better than the 'original' Xenonauts.
