- Terrifying power of Paper! Hi Everyone! Here’s the last video I’ll be doing on Lego Technic Saw’s!
This model users 22 powered up motors and 8 Smart hubs!
This users a thin glossy paper blade, I tried glueing normal sheets together but it wasn’t as durable.
I also tried a metal tin blade but I felt it had no place being on a plastic axle so I decided not to show it on video :)
Welcome to all the new subscribers and thank you for all the suggestions advice etc

Doctor: “What injury brings you to the ER today?”
GazR: “I’ve got a real nasty paper cut.”
Doc: “Are you kidd-oh my god!”
Yeah, just think of what that could do to flesh.
Shows the doctor his finger in a jar.
"I cut my finger off with a paper saw"
"I was playing with my Legos and the paper took my thumb"
Best comment by far lmao
You should try cutting scissors with paper
Not possible, unless the paper is miles wide then maybe
@@prich0382 someone has done it
You should
Hey Puzz my brain froze a little reading that lol.
@@timliefferink who? / link?
Cutting a piece of sandstone would finally answer the age old question of "how TF does paper beat rock?"
😂 I never thought of sand stone
yes that would
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines it would be cool though
something less abrasive but also soft like soapstone might work better
According to the normal answer, by wrapping it up.
"All Lego pieces shown were already damaged"
Ahh yes very good, thank you for not murdering the young fresh ones Infront of their families.
😂
lol
Very nice of him
⚠️ No Lego pieces were harmed while making this video ⚠️
guys that's just _PLASTIC_ - will you not everyday damage some plastic by opening a boxed food, and will people not waste millions of tons of oil just for driving cars and airplanes..??
Try adding an abrasive edge to the paper. Like, glue some sand to it on Rachel side around the cutting edge. That may help it cut the wood. That or get actual sand paper and try that. I'd like to see both ideas tested.
Hey nice idea Jacob, thanks for that!
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines I also think blade should be more hidden inside table and potentially thicker in middle to add mass to it and stiffness
Having glue on the very outside of the blade will probably destroy the blade.
@@oshkiv4684 balancing the weight perfectly is necessary for it not wobble and be flimsy, adding sand would just ruin it fully
Use an angle grinder disk

Lmao!
- Bring a bucket..
imagine getting a papercut from a paper sawblade
Imagine taking your severed finger to hospital!
What did you cut that on?
Paper!
:O
its not a paper cut anymore
its a paper saw
I wonder if it's capable of generating enough sawdust to make a new blade for itself?
It’s weird I tried to sandpaper it and it just snags, it’s amazing how strong paper is at this angle
The most insane paper cut.
They make very thin diamond blades for cutting gemstones; try that with a water tank and pump system and a splash guard. As long as blade is immersed in the water the blade will cut through stone up up diamond hardness. The best part is that you just keep the stone just touching the blade, don't force it and be patient. You'll cut through all kinds of stone. :)
The fact the paper didn't disintegrate when cutting the wood is more impressive tbh
It's probably thick paper
Most painful paper cut you can possibly get! I was very surprised how effectively it cuts through lego!
Hey there yeah it was so effective against plastic! I was trying to find something more substantial but only had the Lego. It just melts it so quick 😀
Paper cut more like lose a finger
This is absolutely terrifying. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you 😀
you should laminate it. also are you still intending to do an actual metal saw blade? or maybe a grinder wheel. thats insane that it is paper
Hi Andrew! I have made one out of tin and it works really well but I don’t think it’s good promoting it on a Lego model! I almost uploaded it but had second thoughts, I’m probably being too cautious 😀
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines upload it, I would so watch that
@@Snas_Undertall me too
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines use fake legos.
@@masonrains5010 The issue isn't that its lego, the issue is that kids might copy and UA-cam will make him liable
you should try experimenting with a flywheel to add more momentum, so the saw wouldnt just stop.
Hey I definitely will do thank you😀
The only question I want to ask is, do you lubricate your gears? That might also assist in power transfer. My suggestion would be to use a dry lubricant containing teflon, OR use a silicone grease.
*Edited to add after thought*
Lube all surface's that are in contact with moving parts.
Hi thanks I used a lubricating spray oil 😀
Graphite works well too
Talk about paper cut! What a machine!
Cheers Brickengineer😀
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines You should add a real saw blade to the build and see how effective it is in comparison to a conventional table saw
ironically enough, paper acts as a really fine grained sand paper, and can be used to finish metal
giving me the chills, thinking about him using paper as a saw... while I cut myself on plain paper...
Someone's never heard the horror stories of working in a newspaper print mill back in the bad old days..!! XD
This brings paper cut to a new level
Imagine playing rock, paper, scissors with this.
This is amazing! You should try to make a drill next using all those motors and real drill bits.
I love that idea! A drill press would be great and thankyou 😀
The ultimate paper cut machine. Just brings nightmares of licking envelopes.
This brings a whole new meaning to paper cuts.
I wonder if the heat being generated from friction is why it cuts through synthetics so well.. like it's softening the material as you cut through it. If it's darkening the wood from the heat of the friction, it's probably also making the wood harder, and so that's why it seems to cut a little bit and then just stop being effective once the wood has gotten too hot. I'm curious if you were to keep it cool with a constant stream of water if it would do better.
Well it’s paper so it would probably be a lot worse with water
Yeah I think it’s more of a heat / friction cutter nice post!
I feel like he has a room that just has various patches of carpet cut out.
😂
Woooow! Extremely cool physics!😁👍
takes 'papercut' to a whole new level
Engineers when seeing this video: we dont need metal saw anymore, WE NEED PAPER SAW
😂
That...is...AWESOME!!! The speed and sheer strength of it is like no other! I can't believe paper was able to cut lego bricks! It's so neat and unique. Your builds are truly like no other. I love seeing your creations and can't wait to see the next! I just saw you had 45k subs! That is insane! I think the reason you are gaining them so quick is because your builds are like nobody else's. You don't try to make the exact same thing as everyone else, you make what you want to, whether it's been done or not. And 9 times out of 10, its not been done before. Have a great rest of your day!
Hey Jared thank you so much for this comment! It means a lot it really does!
My goal was to achieve 1000 subs in the year and this has taken me by surprise!
The biggest help though is obviously down to you viewers, the positive feedback, suggestions has been overwhelming! Thankyou 😀
One more thing I love about you is that you actually respond to nearly every comment. It's so cool to be able to talk to the person that created the build, not very many people do that. And it's absolutely crazy how far in a year you have progressed! I mean in 10 months you went from 0subs to 45k! I love seeing your creations! Can't wait to see what crazy build you come up with next!
i remember seeing a paper blade cutting through a apple on youtube a few years ago, this reminds me so much of it, its like the lego version of it
Hey Haste! I’m so glad people told me about this as I was one of few who hasn’t seen it before until people told me about that 50m plus video lol
It’s been a while happy to see your still doing great!
if you thought it hurt when you stepped on a lego...
This brings a whole new meaning to "paper cut"
Next level papercut
Normal paper cut: “ ow fuck”
This paper cut: “ adios hand”
😂
I think you should put an abrasive compound on the edge of the paper.
Hey nice idea!
That’s insane! How in the world does paper cut plastic??? You should try to cut a mini figure in half, from head to feet, see if you can do it! Maybe change some things so you can, that would be so cool!!!
Edit: Wait… 45 k subs!!! When did that happen!
Hey Easton I couldn’t destroy one as I think I’d get abuse lol.
It’s friction cutting I guess, just melting things, a few told me about it in the last saw video!
Yeah I had a good week lol, took me by surprise! 😀
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines you’ll never know unless you try! It could be a very cool display figure
The paper slowly get destroyed when cutting tougher things
Bro this takes "paper cut" to a whole new level
This video makes me so happy! I can't believe you managed to cut things with paper turned by LEGO! Amazing!
I'm interested how different gloss levels and paper stock affect cutting capacity... is a cereal box tough enough to do damage, or too soft? Would a circle of HDPE milk carton cut well, or just fall apart without fibers in it? Is a fully laminated sheet, like an ID badge, the ideal paper cutter material?
plastic would melt before cutting anything, and paper is more abrasive
Hi a cereal box would work fine! Also glueing 2-3 sheets of paper works! I used a back of a calendar 😀
floppy discs mounted onto motors are wonderful. I use them to strip wires, and to cut connectors on cables open for resoldering.
You can circumvent your power problem by using a heavy rotating mass (flywheel).
Your blade itself, currently the biggest rotating object, is super light and thus doesn't have any kick to it so it's easily stopped and slowed.
yes then when it stop it will rip all the gears teeth off
Wow! That is so effective for just paper!
Hey cheers Nick, a few on the comments told me about the paper saw!
I'm now convinced that you can make anything out of Lego.... ANYTHING.
would be interesting, if you would use sandpaper, a cd or a real sawblade ;)
A CD! Dam where was this comment last time! 😀 I made a tin blade but I won’t upload it! I don’t quite feel it’s right being on a Lego model
Dammmmmmm that’s sharp
Taking a paper cut to a whole other level
This video should be shown in every single shop safety video about why you don't fuck around with a table saw. That shit was paper and it still cut.
Question, since you have made so many other insane lego tools would it be possible to make some kind of lego drill that could drill into legos, even better if it’s handheld. This lego saw is honestly impressive
That’s a great idea Liam, i am making a drill press! A handheld would be tricky I think😀
12 year old me after seeing SAW:
Taking paper cuts to another level
I am astonished by the effectiveness
I was too 😀
Rock - Paper - Scissors. Which one wins in this contest?
Paper
That's genuinely really surprising, I'm wondering though - if you had maybe a couple of those together and cut some sort of blades into it would it make it even more effective? Even as is though I'm impressed!
Probably less effective. The design works because the paper focuses a lot of friction and heat onto a very small area. If you'd use more paper it'd get more stiff, but it would also increase the area.
Hey thanks for that! I think it would disintegrate as it would lose its sturdiness! I’ll try it tomorrow for a bit of fun😀 This is more friction cutting than tradition cutting
-you need a 2x2 short piece
-you only have a 4x2
-you construct this
-you cut the piece
- T E C C
I was waiting for this!
Great video! Very impressive on a technical level. Just a thought, but having some sort of teeth *only at the edge* of the blade would probably help a lot. On a normal table saw, the teeth are wider than the thickness of the blade, creating clearance so the interior of the blade doesn't create excess friction with the wood.
Hi thank you, the problem is once you cut the edge it loses it’s strength and then obliterates itself! I did try 😀
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines So, similar to what happens when grinder cutting wheels blow apart?
Yes, but will it decapitate jelly babies?
😂
One hell of a paper cut
Now thats a PAPER CUT!
Wow I am on time!
😀😀😀 Hey there!! Btw what is your name

@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines it's where my bike likes to be...! 😎
This just added a whole new meaning of papercut
bringing papercut to the next level.
That’s scary strong, did you touch it? Also maybe a drill can be your next build
Hey Chris no I didn’t try with this one lol. I love the drill idea too I’m just experimenting now!
Wow, you actually did it haha!
I think it's more of an abrasive wheel than a cutting wheel, but hey, if it cuts it cuts :p
Hey thank you! Yes it’s more of a friction cutter 😀
one slip and you got the granddaddy of all paper-cuts.
Why did I watch this? It's like PBS in the 70's, just couldn't quit
This is probably a stupid question, but why aren't you just adding more motors ?
Probably the concept of diminishing returns. Every motor added increases the rpm and power by less and less.
Aside from that, there's also the issue of powering them all, and building a rig to support them.
There’s only so many L motors I have😀
This is 2x more dangerous then a normal saw.
Cool saw. I definitely “saw” that coming
Ima stop with the dad jokes now lol

Waita minute, was the saw itself paper?
Yes I used gloss paper, a few people recommended it😀

The ultimate paper cut machine
Lego should release this as an official Lego set.
And have kids cut their fingers off? Imagine the lawsuits
joke lmao
@@timliefferink the joke flew higher over your head than a commercial airliner.
Oh no
You probably won’t see this but people please like so he does!!!
Attach a flywheel like a tire of some sort to the main drive axle. Then, when it powers up it will store energy in the tire, allowing for a more stable rpm when cutting through tough objects. It will have a much easier time that way and will be much more efficient as the flywheel will add extra tourney when needed.
Hey there I try to reply to everyone! 😀 ok question! Where would you place the flywheel? Straight off the motors and then do the gearing? Or possibly 1:5 gearing then a flywheel and then more gearing.
My reason for asking is the motors have a very low 270-300 rpm and I’m not sure it would store much energy straight off the motors?
If you get back to me can you just start a new message as I find it hard to find the replies since UA-cam changed things😀
I thought this was a 3d animated model till i clicked the video,i think its the clean lego in combination with softbox lighting
