  • Can this Powerful Lego Technic Hydraulic Press be stopped? Ridiculous power for a Lego model using acruators.
    Hi everyone I hope you like my attempt at a hydraulic Press, I’ve used 8 Powered up L motors and 2 smart hubs to power this model!

    attach a heavy weight which the actuators barely can pull up. This is free extra crushing power. It also doesn't cause extra stress on the structure. It will almost double the pushing force on the object.

      Hi the problem is this can lift well over 100kg! I will demonstrate soon on a lift test 😀 so adding upto 5kg wouldn’t help that much over what it already does.
      But you’re right, finding something heavy and small enough would be tricky :)

      Hey no problem! Btw I do have a 6kg lump of steel which would fit this perfectly! But I haven’t a clue how you would secure it! Lol

      Yeah they’re quite strong! I remember when I first tried them I used one to lift 10 kg before it started slipping!

      According to some calculations, you could make a tower of 3.6 kilometers high before the LEGO bricks collapse under their own weight. So I'm not surprised at all :)

    I knew Lego was strong, but that setup really surprised me. Amazing how well it crushes; although seeing the plane meet its end saddened me a bit, it's sacrifice was not in vain!

      Haha cheers Lee! I have about 15 airfix planes from when I was a kid and I couldn’t crush them but luckily we had a few given to us from our cousins! So no emotional attachment lol.
      Also it did have a broken wing.
      I’ll do a lift test soon with this :)

    It would be cool to work out a rough average of scale pressure in tons of force. Dimensions of the largest industrial press and the thickness of the aluminium and scale it to give an estimate of scale power

      Hi the force here is quite a lot! Far more than 100kg so it would be tricky unless I buy something very specific.
      I will do a lifting challenge with this set up to hopefully demonstrate 😀

      I’ll see what I have, I think it will snap any bit horizontally but will be interesting to see if any is crushable. Maybe a wheel rim but I’d gate to destroy a good one lol

    When I saw the video my first idea wasn't surprisingly this idea a bit weird. My idea was to take I don't know what it is called but screws that you can turn with gears so you can push down the press plate.

      Hey Jacob thanks I had planned to do this awhile ago! It would be a fun project. My worry is the axle friction welding onto other Lego parts when the downward force is applied !
      I have drilled through fruit etc. it would be more of a friction drill

    I also build a pneumatic press with 3 long 2.0 pneumatic cylinders and 2 thin long 2.0 pneumtic cylinders and it pushed 10 kg... i dont even want to know what this thing can do.

    It would be interesting to know how much force it can exert. I know you can get scales that measure fairly high for fairly low cost.

      Hi Ive been looking for some but it will need to measure upto around 200-250kg
      Btw do you know the specific name for the ones which come with pressure pads? I can’t find them lol

      @@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines Well I am more familiar with the industrial ones that can measure up to like 2000 kg but those are like $1000. I had seen some on Amazon that were smaller scale in the past but looking them up again they only measure like 50 kg and are $40. I tried looking a bit, but couldn't find anything in-between. How big of an area is there for the scale to fit?

    Try to crush the plastic kindegegg. Because its shape even with 40kg of weight on top of it it didnt break it. It only deformed a little bit but then got to its original shape.
