A very sensitive topic but well handled. Glad the relationship ended this way instead of marriage. Because the four letters LOVE should be beyond caste. The boy was shocked, because that move from his girlfriend was unexpected. In general I would say that; those who say they are in love and particularly those taking it to marriage stage, should be aware and learn to handle caste, religion and community cultural barriers etc much better. The thing that i was stressing about is there is a time to talk / discss about society (politics and social problem) and there is a time to talk about own problems (self development / family related matters). Now in this situation this boy has an ideology and this girl has another different ideology but it clearly can be seen that the girl trying to avoid conflict/argument with the boy because she wants to make their relationship work(efforts done by her convincing her parents) and that boy is not tolerating with her l. As you know how important tolerancy is in a relationship. Moreover the girl wants to discuss about their problems and this seems to be the perfect time to discuss such matters. Fantastic! A beautiful performance by both the actors and a brilliant job rendered with the overall audio visual treat. In my opinion, this is the era of relationship between woman and man turning into a haggling contest. Concepts like politics and religion are not necessarily relationship enhancers. That is why people prefer to talk about music or art (minus Picasso) when trying to establish amiability. If places were traded here the breakup would never have gone down as tranquilly as it did. The sobbing, yelling and cursing would've drowned the bustling noises outside the bar instead of just getting another round of wet. Besides, unless there is a necessity to procreate, her can rub one out and him can beat one away. Viewers have simplistically reduced this masterpiece to victory of feminist struggle over caste struggle. They have very conveniently forgotten the precedence of highly obnoxious casteist behaviour of the Brahmin lady (calling just a woman is understatement), that the man had kept ignoring all this time. Such a behaviour could have been from any man, not a very caste dependent thing, be it Sati, honor killing, veil, whatever regressive practice, they have been enforced by all, but created by Brahmin men. All this video does is to bring forth the intersectionality of social issues (caste and gender). Had the male been Brahmin and female another caste, this intersectionality would have disappeared and the Brahmin would have clearly been at fault, both in male chauvinism as well as caste supremacy. The lesson here is - the hegemonic Brahmin feminist struggle will unfairly gain more importance than the (Dalit feminism or anti-caste stuggle in general) caste struggle, and so be patient, read Ambedkar, Periyar, give up your male superiority if you want to successfully fight caste.
