It’s actually easier to program reflective surfaces the on low quality games. The reason being is because there is less shit to monkey with. It is more than an image flip. It is a recreation of the world that is not actually there, something like a portal. You starting to get why it’s hard? You may have seen a few indie games that have reflective surfaces, well those are not hard to pull off in such a game. It is hard to pull off on a AAA game, because of the graphics, and that they need more detail. It is better to remove it and stop wasting resources on something that isn’t going to do anything for the game, more than likely it is going to look like shit anyway, so it’s better to not try at all. I say this knowing reflective surfaces are in Kiwami 2 and they look amazing, the best I’ve seen actually. It could just be a simple design change, wanting granite flooring than marble or whatever. They replaced the chandelier with a European one instead of a Japanese style chandelier.
This is back when 3D environments in games were so simple that it was very cheap to simply render everything you want to be reflected twice, reflections were actually full copies of environments underneath the floor. Once graphics became too sophisticated and they had to optimize the shit outta the renderer, they could not afford to render everything twice. So now until raytracing becomes a norm we are stuck with super lame ass screen space reflections that are not only inaccurate, but also disappear should you take camera from the reflection source. I swear even static cubemap baked reflections are better than screenspace ones with their artifacts and disappearing.
This video is good. Please just make a video where you talk about Yakuza for another hour. It could be literally anything. You could talk about the footstep sounds in each game, I don't care. Just do this again.
I didn't find OG Man in Black too bad tbh. One move that gave me shit is the spinning axe kick which is an instant stun. Chances are he'll do it again and again.... Maybe it's the somersault kick that made me like his moves
One thing i HATED about some of the sidequest bosses is just how grabby they are, AND ALSOOOO even if have like, 3 ungrab upgrades, it still feels like you can't do anything
in the Shindo fight with the drawn out QTE, both characters are repeating the same moves when you have to mask the button. like, they couldnt spice it up?
35:27 That’s because of the increased framerate on both emulated versions and the HD version. You basically need to mash twice as fast.
Is there a way to decrease the framerate back to 30 or something cuz mashing the button twice as fast isn’t very fun
@@captaink48000 if you’re on emulation you can set the fps cap to 30
@@tenryuublackrose2176 how
Even with the game running on a real ps2 i often failed button mashing O when grabbing big dudes. Even at 30 fps it's hard
I really love essence mounting with final boss, at that time Kiryu is really weak and that's more like fight until dead
really late reply, but he's actually nearly at the peak of his powers. like he literally beaten 2 tigers barehanded
@@razor6544He meant that both Ryuji and Kiryu lost a lot of blood and were kinda slowly dying
@@iskanderrg ooh makes sense
That reflection looks too good for a ps2 game
That's kinda like you know, like thise trick of an upside down building trick
too good for a PS4 game too apparently
Ryuji 1st fight!!😱😱😱

Great to see og Yakuza 2 getting these kind of videos.
Hayashis music is so fucking good compared to kiwami 2
40:00 There is a tiger in kingdom hearts 1 that looks kinda good

Bruh,I can't button mash fast enough to save my life.
Is there anything I can do about it?
Try to get it stuck to 30 FPS. The more FPS you have, the more you have to mash
