This story is based upon the lives of actual orphans. About 2010, I was privileged to hear Christine Kline discuss her book on the orphan trains. She was highly knowledgeable. Upon completion of her talk, she asked if there was anyone in the audience who was related to these children. A very nicely dressed lady stood up and came to the front of the room. She stated that her father was one of these children. He had ridden the train from New York City down to South Louisiana and no one would take him. Upon getting off the train, there was a Catholic priest who saw him and decided to take him under his wing. Since he was a priest, the honorable man talked his housekeeper into adopting the boy. The boy vowed that from then on he would make his parents proud of him. The boy grew into a man, became a coach for Louisiana Tech. His name was Joe Aillet. He was Phil Robertsons and Terry Bradshaw’s coach.
Such wholesome film.. I was in tears multiple times. 😅🤧 Sometimes I think that kindness is overlooked.. when in fact there’d be no genuine smile without it. ❤❤❤ God bless who wrote it.
