      I agree, but it went both ways. Andy learned some valuable lessons about faith and trust from Opie - like in the "Mr. McBeevee" and "Opie's Charity" episodes.

    Love this scene! Ronnie Howard was raised by two really good parents. I’ve seen video where Andy Griffith or Ron Howard (I forget which) talk about how Rance Howard came to Andy and said he didn’t want them to write Opie as a smart-alec kid. His funny lines were said without attitude. Made Opie way more lovable and real. Much like Ron is in real life.

      I thought that he only had one parent on that show, being Andy Griffith. Now Aunt Bea wasn't his mother. She was his aunt. But she practically raised him whenever she came into that house

      True - Opie only had one parent, but Ron Howard, who played him, had two parents.

      Well, I'm a bit prejudiced, but I think my son was the cutest, most adorable boy I'd ever seen, and then he was a gorgeous, handsome man who attracted beautiful women by the dozens. He was killed in an accident when he was only 31, and he was handsome....and cute (being his mother, he was always "cute" to me), even in death.

    Wish they could have included the part where Barney comes in and puts on an act to teach Opie a lesson about being a sore loser ,pretending to be mad over getting turned down for that pay raise he was counting on,then throws a real fit when Andy tells him he really did get turned down,very funny scene.

      @Shy Cutie I want to know what happened to Opie Taylor's mother. But I know for a fact that Andy Taylor was a great father to him. Aunt Bee did a great job raising him too but she was not his mother. His mother never was ever even mentioned, not even her name was mentioned. I am just wondering if there's an explanation for that if someone can enlighten me. That's where my confusion is at and I would feel better if I knew what happened. I don't think it matters whether or not Andy was his natural father because he loved him like a real father should and that is all that matters.

    Actually, Barney's $2.75 Chinese dinner for two was somewhat pricey: In 2021 dollars, it would set him back around $25.50, hardly a cheap meal 🍜

    • @jb6712

      Not really an expensive meal in the 21st century, not when ordinary restaurants such as IHOP charge $15 for a dinner for one person.

    • @jb6712
      @jb6712 Рік тому +1

      Taking His name in vain won't increase the number of comments. As to your foolish question, there are multiple generations that didn't grow up watching these shows, and now find them to be too simplistic---there's no murder/blood/gore, no slash-and-kill, no sex, nothing that attracts the sick generations that make up too much of the population today.
