Great review guys love the back in forth reminds me of electronic playground 😂 at the end of day it’s rare that a remake is better than the classic. Will Smith is a great actor but the genie was based off of Robin Williams cartoonish personality. I’m going to watch this movie with an open mind and try not to be too bias regarding R.Williams incredible performance I’ll watch it as its own thing. Will Smith is Will Smith and Williams is Williams can’t compare the two they’re too different
Honestly keep this Film Fury. You guys are two of the best because at any time things feel like they go off the rails and that makes for a perfect review. You guys are amazing. I'm very proud to see you two doing great content and having a review from the heart like that. The passion and the drive you two have for movies and games is stellar . Thanks again for another entertaining and great review. Cant wait for the Lion King Review.
I love seeing the different opinions between you 2 and the arguments both of you bring up! Really shows both sides of how people would perceive this movie
One of the best damn episodes on the channel. I wish more people subscribed but Johnny almost never brings up the channel on Happy Console Gamer and he should cuz a lot of fans whole subscribe if they knew about it.
Vic's right. Which is surprising, since he usually into the nostalgia nerd branding which is pop culture today. Aladdin a great one off animated movie. Disney should use the money to make some new original IP, instead of remaking 2D animation because they feel it's passe.
I held off of this review till I saw the movie, and because I did and also didn't re-watch the original Aladdin (fan of Robin Williams here myself) prior to watching this in IMAX 3D ... I very much enjoyed it and was taken aback from the start with Will Smith's 'Arabian Nights'. I bet you never had a friend like Film Fury ... and this time, there was fury and I'm happy this was actually more of a debate this time. Good review, Johnny and Vic! For once, I'm easily with the Millenium on this one!
This was so good hahahaha the difference of opinion was awesome. It's kind of boring when people agree all the time, it's nice to see two very separate impressions of the movie. I will say that the original Aladdin is in my top 5 best movies of all time. It's right up there. Robin Williams was fucking magical and he *MADE* Aladdin what it was, I agree with Vic there. Too bad Disney fucked him so he never returned to it. :( It would be a damn hard sell to come around to this movie. I like Will Smith a lot from way back before he was acting and was doing his Fresh Prince and Jazzy Jeff stuff. Might end up seeing it for shits and giggles.
Totally with Johnny here. I loved the movie, I thought Will Smith and Naomi Scott did great jobs and while I respect that we can all have different opinions, I thought Vic was way too harsh on this one. Good review! And great movie.
I agree with vic on the character of the geenie the issue is that the geenie wasnt robin williams playing a role it was robin williams being himself doing his characters and his form of comedy and the geenie was created around that. So any attempt to copy that is going to fall short and just feel like an imitation. They should have crafted a different version of the character to fit will smith because he is a great actor with a very distinctive personality in his own right.
I love the original Aladdin but in watching the new movie I am not comparing the two movies... I'm appreciating the new Aladdin movie and being entertained by it no matter what came before. And it makes me enjoy the movie more to just have a good time with it.
The fact that they scrapped jasmine’s backstory scenes and had her meet Aladdin within the first couple minutes during One Jump Ahead, was one of the most baffling decisions I’ve ever witnessed.
Good review with plenty of thought-provoking comments. And I love how Johnny says "Five? What?" at the end as if he just that moment realized what score Victor gave it. :)
Thanks Vic. Now we got a real film fury discussion. We got some drama here! Johnny is too positive in the reviews. I am with Vic here. They could have cast James Earl Jones today as freaking Jafar. he would have been more scary...
In defense of Will I didn't feel he was doing a Robin impression. It definitely felt like standard Will Smith. Full of charisma and humor. He didn't try and do impressions, he was just himself.
Will Smith proved he couldn't hold a tune in a bucket with his flat, off-key singing in this. No wonder, he's a rapper! Agreed on Marwan Kanzari's Jafar. There's understated and then there's non-existent. Jafar had all the menace of a roll of wallpaper.
5??? Wow that is interesting. I'm going to see it with the Mrs. this weekend so now I am even more intrigued. You guys should continue the discussion at EP live! That would be awesome!
@@jtbtroon pushed to next weekend lol. The more I look into the movie, I more I think it's gonna be rough but you do what you gotta do to make your spouse happy. I will report back!!
A pleasant surprise, guys. This felt like it was going to be a complete turd. If Johnny had fun, there's hope. I hope Will Smith finds something good soon; he's not put out anything wow-worthy in ages, but we know he's got the chops. BTW - nice shirts, Johnny!
I’m seeing this tonight. I’m going in with extremely low expectations. It’s literally impossible to replace the original characters. Robin Williams can’t be be replaced. I’m hoping I’ll come out pleasantly surprised but idk.
Well shit... I wasn’t planning on seeing this adaption at all, but this review was so controversial that I have to see it for myself and see who i align with more, Vic or Johnny?
I don't think its, fair to compare,Will Smith to Robin because well hes not him. Will has done many interviews raving about the iconicness of what Robin did and said ar first he didnt wanted touch it. But if he did do it he wanted to make it his own. Will Smith brought soo much energy and fun to this film. Robin William's made the Genie no one can take that away. But they ain't the same thing.
2:57 He's right... if they changed it too much it wouldn't be Aladdin. Remember it's a live adaptation of Aladdin. Brought to the screen from animation to real life U can add a few things but u dont change what makes Aladdin, Aladdin.
They shouldve done for live action is start from the old movies and work there way up to the newer animated 90s movies to turn into lice action. I think this movie was too soon to be made into live action
I don't know here I sort of have to agree with Vic honestly, I don't really like the live action Disney films based on their animated feature films for the most part all that much as I feel they're pretty much unnecessary and that we don't really need them as we have the classics already that exists in the animated feature films on Blu Ray and DVD, so yeah that's my two cents on the matter personally, as I just don't see the point really apart from Disney just trying to think of new ways to siphon more money from people's pockets/wallets when the originals adequately satisfy on an entertaining and enjoyable level where you could just sit down and watch those versions with your family or whomever from time to time every couple of years or so and make it a big event, and not where you've to go an see pretty much a somewhat dulled down and uninspired version of the original when you don't really have to because we already have their great movies that they've made over the years already it's just they want to try to sell it to us all again when we don't really need them.
I'm with vic on this one will Smith shouldn't have took the part this is definitely gonna take a toll on his career I really think Jack black would've done this movie justice terrible movie I mean even Aladdin I thought he was Arabian not Indian they should've did their research and took their time with this one
I hate to disagree with Johnny, but if you're not going to change more in the film, there's no point in remaking it. These Disney live action remakes are terrible and too similar to the original. They turn out to be cheap copies that are wholly worse rather than creating something new.
By the 7th day of my Disney+ free trial I was running out of things to watch. Dumbo (2019) was a waste of my time. I gave Aladdin a chance and I was getting into it and then they start singing. I Ffwd and was getting into it again and they start another song. That was the key, being able to skip the musical numbers. Will Smith did a good job and Jasmine was beautiful. By the end of the movie I cared about what was happening. Better than Dumbo by far and holy crap was Lady and the Tramp remake SJW garbage. Fun review guys.
I think Victor is way off the mark on this one. I feel like he has to realize that the VAST majority of filmgoers who were commenting about the film both before anything was seen of it and afterwards were DEMANDING that the film follow the cartoon as closely as possible. I know that there are some people like Vic who wanted things to go differently for the sake of newness and creativity, but I feel like those people have to realize that they are in the minority. And Victor's comment asking why the Genie was blue didn't quite make sense. ROBIN WILLIAMS wasn't blue. The character was blue. That's why he's blue in the new one. It's the same character. It doesn't really have anything to do with Robin Williams. And as for why the genie needs to be blue or animated, I would argue that it helps sell the concept that the Genie isn't human. He is blue because that is good design language to communicate that he is a good person. That is, to a large extent, the problem with these remakes. The original artists were masters who knew how to use design language to perfect the communication of the ideas of the story. And because it's animated, they could do it to a level of precision that live action film cannot truly match. Animated films are simply much more thought out than live action films. As such, the live action film directors have to either do what the animated films did because it's already the best option, or go another way PURELY for the sake of difference, not quality.
Film review 📽️ #Aladdin a film that goes from bad to good to bad. Way to many songs and really none of them great. Colourful and bright, at times the cgi is awful. On way to long for any little kids. I'll be kind 6.5/10 #CineworldUnlimited #hastingsfilmreviews
Just saw it today. Yeah it's not that great. It's like watching a slightly worse version of the original animated movie that lacks the charm. Jafar is easily the worst part of it. Where is his deliciously evil scheming personality? He's so bland. Actually that's the best word to describe this movie. Bland. Will Smith is oddly my favourite part of the movie. He's no Robin Williams that's for sure but he's entertaining enough and given a bit more freedom I'm sure he'd be able to make a more unique interpretation of the character. That and he's actually trying this time which is nice. I haven't seen him put effort into any of his performances in a long time. Sadly the movie is rather pointless. There's no cool new perspective or interesting twist. I really don't care for 1:1 remakes of old properties. Any changes they do make here are ignorable at best. It's really not worth seeing this movie.
I dont care about the movie but this review is amazing hahaha XD role reversal at the end lol.

Thats the golden rule about movies and life: keep your expectations low and just enjoy. Its only rock n roll but i like it.

I wish I can just hang out with Vic and Johnny
"8?! Are you kidding me?!" I'm dying! LOL
I like Will Smith as an actor that being said Disney got Aladdin right the first time with Robin Williams why mess with perfection.
It's Disney, they want money. They don't care about anything else.
Vic channels his inner Scoot C Jones, and John proves that he ( just like tony stark) truly has a heart!!
Well done guys!
This was a great review. One of my favorites from you guys. I love the banter between you two & seeing the role reversal between you. 😂
BEST REVIEW EVER!
Thanks guys , i love when VIC hates a movie!
Yeah it’s like I’m watching a parallel universe where Vic and John are the opposite of this universe.
I love seeing the different opinions between you 2 and the arguments both of you bring up! Really shows both sides of how people would perceive this movie
I haven't enjoyed 2 movie reviewers butting heads so much since Siskel & Ebert.
If you watch this without nostalgia glasses then it's a perfectly fine movie.
I love how divided both of you are on this film! Great review!
This was your best review yet. love it
Well I found EPN... Then I found Happy Console Gamer... Now I'm subscribed to Film Fury. I am definitely a Huge Fan Guys.

Ohh Johnny got on the SNK hoddie👍👍
Steve Afanador Yup he wasn't joking about wearing it.
This Film Fury was taken to the highest SNK level. FIGHT!

I Think Patrick Warburton Would of made a great Genie for this movie
This review was the Ying and the yang with a brick wall in the middle!
Seems like a date night movie. Time to go get a girlfriend.
This reminds me of the Tommy years. Chemistry for days!

So many other people are saying will Smith was good, but other actors and actresses were bland...
Vic is right. Period.
This episode of film fury is straight out of the twilight zone. LOL

good old honest review from filmfury great job guys

The whole point of Aladdin was that while a street rat he was deserving of being Sultan....Jazmine being Sultan it stole the whole point of the movie.

I thought Will Smith was painfully unfunny. He’s funniest when he’s paired with a serious actor like Tommy Lee Jones
