WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page tells Chris Van Vliet the story of how he found out that Dusty Rhodes had passed away #wwe #codyrhodes #dustyrhodes
Loyalty = “Dallas never fell off that hand” Dusty For Dusty to share that to Cody, shows how much of a real friend Dallas was and why Cody really appreciates him openly as he does and will also forever be his friend
It’s amazing DDP thinks of Jake as a mentor even still, because you ask Jake and he talks like DDP is the sun he revolves around. DDP got Jake clean. Amazing circle of friends.
As a kid growing up watching WCW I was a huge nWo mark so I hated DDP. But as an adult I realize what an amazing person he is. A hell of a wrestler too.
I have one friend who has stayed on that hand the entire time and will never fall off it. I count it as my life's greatest blessing that I have that one friend. For DDP to be that one friend to Dusty of all people, man, that is the highest honor.
in his 30s? ah that makes a lot of sense. As a kid watching WCW, I always wondered why he looked like every other wrestler's older brother, but I hadn't heard of him before. I thought it was just old-man-looking genetics, and maybe smoked too many cigars.
@@johnrouille5428 yeah i think around 95/96 is when I got into WCW and wrestling in general, and remember seeing NWO start and most of the shenanigans they brought, but I was 7/8 so I never knew DDP’s real personal details. Haven’t watched wrestling since the WWF attitude era, but am somewhat caught up and familiar from watching UA-cam videos. I’ll definitely watch something about his full career, because he wasn’t a fav of mine, but was super entertaining 👍
@@joshschneider9766 Reading this as someone who isn't a big Dusty fan- I already KNEW wrestling fans in general owe a lot to Dusty. So I took the few seconds and googled it. I recommend others do to, tbh. I didn't realize that he spent time in SO many wrestling organizations. That alone- his knowledge and experience beginning from 1967, working with so many massive names is priceless. I had no idea he was a booker for as long as he was and is considered one of the greatest! I was ready to believe we owed him a lot purely because of his sons, but in reality I was discounting Dusty and all he personally did in front of and behind the camera.
I remember Dusty and the Von Eriks choreographing matches back in 1964 in an outside ring in Ohio where I grew up. People don't give that era enough credit for how much they practiced to give the fans the best shows possible.
1964? Did you mean 1984? Dusty made his wrestling debut in 1967. In 1964, the Von Erichs would have been Fritz and his kayfabe brother Waldo and there was no Dusty Rhodes in 1964 other than the New York Giants baseball player named Dusty Rhodes. That's where Dusty Runnels got the name Dusty Rhodes. The New York Giants baseball player Dusty Rhodes was the favorite baseball player of Cody's grandfather.
I watched DDP go from a manager of the diamond carral with Scott hall and Kevin Nash into DDP the wrestler and world champion at like 40 years later such an impressive guy and for Dusty rhodes to put him top five says alot
Those 2 are 2 amazing mentors. Most people never get 1. It's no wonder Dallas took to the business so fast. I learned from a rando who spent 20 years on the Indies. He was good... In my mind he was good enough to make WWE especially in the weak years from 2006-2019. However he stayed on the independents his entire career. Cameron Frost.
we always glad my son was named dallas..I watched ddp alot on nitro..dangg those were the best day..if the done it Tuesday..these both be here..cause Tuesday was no wrestling ontv.
Once again, this proves that nobody who has ever worked with Dusty had a bad thing to say about him. I love DDP. RIP Dream. and Congratulations to Cody and his continued success as world champ :)
Banana said this DDP could do so much I don't want to see his talent go to waste in the wrestling business. A ew could benefit from GDP in his positivity I wish they would hire him to be like a positivity and for the yoga for the wrestlers and to constantly help wrestling especially AEW cuz DDP could not have to step in the ring but helping what the morale and all that
Bro got the shaft when he came over to WWE. Wish he would have had a better run than what he had. Granted, he battled with some injuries but I feel like so many guys loyal to WCW got shafted by Vince being a petty asshole.
I can't stand. Cody Rhodes Just Dusty Rhodes died when Cody Rose was 31 years old. Cry me a river at least you knew your dad. My dad died when I was a young child
DDP is an amazing human being. He would come into my Boston Market restaurant once a week and was polite to everyone. On the contrary other Atlanta celebrity customers wanted you to kiss their ass
Now I want to do a version of that, only like "Eric wanted you to know that he had only 5 real friends. Now when i can find his list, I'll let you know..."
Dusty has gotta be one of the most influential wrestlers of all time. His connection not just to the fans, but to the business, runs DEEP. Dusty had a hand in everything.
Growing up watching the Monday Night Wars, I came to be a huge fan of DDP. He became one of my favorite wrestlers. I was always doing the Diamond Cutter gesture at school. The WWE did him dirty when he came over after the merger. He wasn't around for very long when compared to many other superstars but he is still one of my all-time favorites.

i believe it. DDP is such an amazing guy
He's like the patron Saint of wrestlers having hard times.
Edit: pun unintended

Jake's been holding on really well... let's hope we have him for several years more.

DDP seems like a rly good dude his yoga has basically saved lives.
Big fan of DDP. In 97 he was one of the most popular wrestlers.

As a kid how could anyone of hated ddp lol that’s how I feel. I hated nWo black n white / Hollywood
@@michaelmcguigan5278 I was rebellious as a kid and cheered the heels. The cool heels that is.
My man broke his back at 30, came back and won the WCW Heavyweight Championship title at 35. He’s surely an amazing dude! Humble af!
Ain't nothing wrong with it. WCW made wrestling seem real so when fans didn't like you, they LEGIT didn't like you.
Another guy DDP knows he owes ALOT to is of course Randy savage that feud they had made DDP a superstar
Oooooh, YEEEEAAAH!! DIG IT?!
Put him in the hof just for what he’s done for other people in and out the ring . His impact and influence on wrestling is insane
DDP seems like such a stand up guy. He’s one of the few guys who went to Mean Gene’s funeral.
of the few? :o

The influence Jake had on DDP and Raven can not be understated. Randy Orton too even though that's not direct, I don't think.
Friends with Nash , Austin , Foley and Rick Rude too . What lessons he learned .
