I tried to do pan that palette this year and ended up stopping after 2 months because I realized as much as I loved the Club Nebula palette, the colors just were not flattering with my skin tone. I ended up depotting a couple of the shimmers and I am still trying to use those us but I have shifted my focus to "No Pan Left Behind" so that way I can really see what I like on my skin tone and what I gravitate towards so that way when I attempt to do "Pan That Palette" next year I have a better understanding of the palette I will be panning.
@@AlejandraLisette it's been very eye opening but I've been loving the journey. I'm currently starting to lean towards the idea of doing more of a focus palette challenge next year instead of doing a proper "pan that palette" but do the focus palette seasonally with the aim of just hitting pan in that palette rather than actually trying to use it up. But who knows what the year will bring as I continue working my way through all of my eyeshadow palettes.
I'm with you about not wanting to pan a palette for a year. Not only would I get bored, I want to use everything. I don't want to use just one thing while everything else sits around expiring. I have a randomizer app that I use to rotate through everything. That's more fun to me than panning.
I've tried panning eyeshadow pallettes and got bored. I love changing it up. I'm better at panning polish or face products. You have me hooked on that tiny decisions app! That's what I use nearly every weekend for my eye look.
I’ve tried PTP over a few years, and either got bored, forget I’m working on the palette, or get fed up and declutter it. The last 2 years have been a success (sort of). I stuck to working on the TF Natural Mattes last year for the whole year. Didn’t hit pan in anything, despite regular use, and it was my go to to build looks on top of. This year I picked the Viseart Petit Pro 1, and the shades are staples. I’m building palettes around it to support the shades and make looks, just because it’s so limited. I’m making progress, but it’s slow going. Keen to see where I end up at the end of the year though. 😊 Anyway, to summarise, I’ve figured out (finally) what works for me in a PTP. It needs to be small, and neutral as heck, and it needs to be shades I can use every day in some capacity along with other things.
I don’t understand hitting pan in 30 uses. 😢 it takes me waaaayyy more to hit pan. Maybe I’m too light handed but even when I’ve dug in I still can’t do it. Congrats. You are blessed lol
i would suggest the Rudolph palette from CP. but i would also recommend to pick the thing that excites you and inspires looks. and take a page from Amber F and pan looks
If you did a Pan that palette I think the Sultry would be great since it has good progress, or that small Natasha Denona. The Bare Minerals duo is a good candidate too.
I’ve never done a pan that palette because I always get bored with whatever I’m working on and then feel guilty about not reaching my goal. I used to do pan those eyeshadows but I stopped wearing makeup as frequently so that project turned into the same thing. Now I try to just use what I want to on a given day. I started doing deck of panning this year and I got two prompts for No Pan Left Behind. Surprisingly, that has been a massive success! I’ve done the Huda Gold, the baby yoda palette, and currently I’m working on my ND I Need a Nude. I’m two shadows away from finishing and I’m very proud of myself. If I had to pan a palette, it would need to be one with pinks. Maybe my ND Retro. I currently have three pans in that palette all from organic usage and I’m close to a fourth!
Those are all great palettes for options! Especially the ones that could create many different looks. I like variety. This is my first year doing Pan That Palette and so I'm starting small with the "Fun Sized" I am panning the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk quad. I thought that was a good one to start out. I'm still happy with my choice. If I did a full size, I have no idea which one I would choose! I would have to do a deep dive into my palettes!
I don’t really do PTP . I might have a focus palette for the year but I’m not super successful at panning. Last year I was focused on the Profusion all shimmers palette I think I got one pan and a few dips. NPLB works better for me as I buy a lot and don’t want to have everything going off while I hyperfocus and am bored. If I had to choose ? Mmm … probably work on the MAC 6pan cream shadows as it’s older and creams can go bad faster than powder. Next choices ? Maybe using / focusing on the cream formula or cream to powder putty like formulas in Colourpop, Natasha Denona and Adept. A neutral or nearly (pops etc) like the Morphe JH , TF Teddy Bare, Choc bar etc. Dominique Cosmetics and Melt and Visart and Profusion and Beauty Treats all have some good neutral focus palettes.
If I can’t pan a face palette, I’d never be focused enough to be able to pan an eyeshadow palette! Lol! I enjoy rotating through palettes, or even doing a palette a week…. I enjoy variety and change! Leo on the roses…. A little over a week ago, I had to say goodbye to one of our cats who was terminally ill almost three months to the day of my dog’s passing. 😔
I loved all the potential palettes you picked, except the first (too large, way too overwhelming) and the last one (for me a palette starts at 4 eyeshadows). 😂 I would love to see you do one. And you don't have to start in January, you can start whenever, and it does not have to be finished in 1 year, it could take however long, so there would be enough time and room for other projects and not the danger of getting bored. What would be your goal in a PTP? Pan in every shade or use everything up? I don't to PTP, but I often think about doing it... If I did, these would be my criteria: - a palette that I absolutely love, and where I like every color (sometimes I see people panning their oldest or smallest or cheapest or least favorite palette so it's finally gone, I could never do that) - a palette of high quality, so probably more high end - more on the neutral side, so it's usable for everyday but can be paired with singles or other palettes for fun color stories - more on the small to medium size, about 4 - 14 eyeshadows - smaller pan sizes and more on the softer pressed side so I can see some progress - something I already have good use on I would probably choose a ND mini palette (they are so small) or a ABH 14 or 12 pan palette (they are easy to hit pan in).
I have about 7 palettes I am trying to use more intensely. So every tuesday and thursday I use one of them or multiple of them. Weekends I try to use singles, but also on Fridays, too on occasion. MWF I rotate among 12-13 palettes (some weekend, too) that are just things I want to use. I don't know that panning the whole palette is doable. I mean, even if I go in and get a ton of kick up (Glamshop, they are born dusty, but the shimmers are astonishingly great), even so, I just don't hit pan. I guess right now I am at the stage where I just dig in and want to use stuff more intently. I never try to pan a shade. And to be honest most panning seems to show up on the very light and neutral shades that are very easy to use. I rarely see a neon pink panned by anyone, it's just a LOT. The one I am really digging into is Ace Beaute (it's not on the site and I can't recall the name, it's a burnt yellow, but bright container), but if I am not loving a palette I'd prefer to move it on for super cheap on poshmark. I had a few glamshops that were just not easy for me to use (I'd rather replace with colourpop) and someone was happy to try them. Maybe I should do like you and try it. Like that Bare Minerals looks eminently doable.
I don't do a pan that palette because I would rather use all of my palettes consistently instead on focusing on one. If I had to pick one, it'd be a palette that is at least 1-2 years old, was a bit more expensive to get and that I wouldn't get bored of but also wouldn't miss too much if it were gone. Maybe the Adept Cosmetics La Cienega palette
I get bored easily. Or I feel guilty for not using other palettes. I'm inspired by holidays seasons and months. I have 8 palettes pulled for April and 2 others to try to remember to use 2 or 3x each month. It's an ok system. I sometimes need to move a palette to a different month. But I use every palette at least once and don't get bored
😅😅😅I've got 2 pans in my new Holiday Too Faced palette. Took me 2 months using it multiple times a week. The darker shades take much much longer but light shades I got dips in 🤔I'm super fair so I'm not piling it on by any means... Maybe it's the brushes you use?

Same here. I’m also very light handed, so hitting pan is a struggle.
What I have learned is the formula and brush make a different. Some formulas I can’t hit pan in 50 uses but others take 15.
