Norwegian born Angelina Jordan began singing at the age of one and a half, and by age three was listening to jazz and classics legends on repeat. Her grandmother was her greatest influence, but Angelina chose her own path. Her first studio performance was at age 7, singing I Who Have Nothing. She won Norway's Got Talent at the age of only 8, singing old time classics from Billie Holliday and George Gershwin, and became one of the youngest ever vocalists to win an international Got Talent Show! Her performance at 9 years old of Screamin Jay Hawkins, I Put a Spell on You is considered one of the finest recordings ever of a 9-year-old vocalist! Angelina also went viral on America's Got Talent the champions in 2020 with her unique versions of Bohemian Rhapsody and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Angelina sings in English which unbelievably is her third language! She is a true prodigy.
She is now 18, and has recorded a huge library of songs, including covers and several originals. A major attraction to Angelina's music is the emotion and attitude she conveys, although she has not experienced the life events! She is known as the barefoot princess of 1,000 voices as she can adjust her tone, style, and register for any song or genre. She was signed by Republic Records when she was 14. She was not widely promoted for a few years, as her family wanted to allow her a normal childhood. However, things are changing rapidly as she has graduated school this year. She has released two original music video singles from Republic Records, Love Don't Let Me Go, and Now I'm the Fool, coinciding with her new six song EP called Old Enough. The four other songs have been released as visualizers. She performed two shows in Las Vegas in February, and also performed Unchained Melody at the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo in December. She is currently working with Toby Gad, a multi Grammy award-winning producer and composer, and has released two songs. If I were a boy, originally by Beyoncé, and Bad Valentine, which will be officially released at her September 20th concert in LA. Why does Angelina sing barefoot? The answer may makes many people emotional. It is related to a promise she made to herself and to the world when she was only 6 years old. She was traveling in the Middle East with her mom and grandmother and they came across a young orphan girl with no shoes and scarred feet. Angelina gave the girl her own favorite shoes. Angelina ask the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and she said a doctor, but she could not because she had to take care of her siblings. She asked Angelina the same question and Angelina said I want to sing for the world. The young girl said she would pray for Angelina. Since then, Angelia has forever performed barefoot as a reminder of all those less fortunate. At age 9 she wrote a book about this experience, Between two Hearts, becoming the youngest ever published author in Norway. She also has helped raise millions for children's charities. She even stated at 8 years old that she would be donating her winnings from Norway's Got Talent to charities. She is a special individual, and one you cannot follow without developing a special bond.
Angelina captures hearts because she is humble and has compassion for humanity. She is a messenger of love, light, and hope, wrapped in a blanket of humility. Her stated goal from childhood was to sing for the world to spread love and peace. Excellent I would just add that If I Were A Boy was released by Toby's cowriter BG Jean and then covered by Beyonce! Toby released the song with Angelina under his Piano Diaries, making it not a cover! Everyone recognizes the song as Beyonce's because she made it a hit, and it was great, I just personally prefer Angelina's version that she and Toby came up with! I particularly like a striped down version with just her with Toby on the keys!

What you will soon realize is that Angelina today at 18 Angelina is already the best Jazz singer on the Planet! IMO Soon to be one of the Best Vocalists of All Time.
Angelina won Norway's Got Talent when she was 8 yrs old after starting the competition at 7 yrs old. The youngest winner of any Got Talent show on the planet. She had to wait two years because you had to be 7 yrs old to enter. She started with a rendition of Billie Holiday's 'Gloomy Sunday' which she just infused with Billie's soul. She followed this by another Billie classic with a pitch perfect rendition of 'I'm a Fool to Want You' acapella. Her next performance was a beautiful rendition of 'Bang, Bang' by Sonny & Cher and performed most famously by Nancy Sinatra. She won the competition with what I consider her first Masterpiece performance of 'Summertime' by George Gershwin. Shortly after winning she was designated a National Treasure by the Norwegian people.
There is video of Angelina recorded by her mother Sarah Astar singing a couple of lines of "I Will Always Love You' by Whitney Houston when she was 18 months old. She started studying all the greats of Jazz soon after under the guidance of her Iranian Grandmother Mery Zamani a child prodigy in her own right as an artist and poet. English is Angelina's 3rd language behind Norwegian and Farsi along with Japanese and some German and perhaps more. She did this from 2 & 3 yrs old by scrolling thru UA-cam of all their most Iconic performance. Angelina doesn't just mimic these greats, she reinterprets them and then simply sings them the way they were meant to be sung. She makes them her own.
Angelina was begging her mother to go on "that Simon show" when she was 3 yrs old. encouraged to sing children songs, she would have none of that. Angelina chooses her own songs and she is absolutely fearless. No song is too big and no artist is too Iconic. All the most Iconic songs by the most Iconic singers in music history. Angelina has said singing to her is as important to her as breathing.
She will sing anything Acapella at any time and often does. Her Tic-Toc is full of these impromptu performances wherever she might be whether in the car, walking around the neighborhood or in a parking Garage. Accompanied by most often a simple guitar or piano her performances are always incredible. Add a band or even a full orchestra as in her performance for Quincy Jones at his request singing his arrangement of 'Fly Me to the Moon'. The same arrangement he did for Frank Sinatra. This opened for his 85th birthday celebration at the 02 Arena in London.
She is well known worldwide in the industry. Her family and Angelina have been holding back turning down many of the biggest in the industry while she finishes school. Remember she just turned 17 January 10th. They finally signed with Republic Records about three years ago after getting a deal that gave her control of her artistic vision and has since released 2 originals, 'Million Miles' & '7th Heaven' plus the opening soundtrack for the New Movie "The Hating Game" with her song 'Mercy' performed most notably by Duffy. Republic has labeled her their Highest Priority and assigned a team to her including Rob Christy a multiple Grammy Winner, often on the piano in many of her performances and a whole team of equally qualified professionals. She has worked with some of the best musicians in the industry and always get exactly what she wants. Some call her the Boss and have immense respect for her. She recently dropped Her EP 'Old Enough' which includes 6 original tracks. She has been indicating she will be releasing another EP of originals by Christmas.
She has been diligently perfecting her craft since winning Norway's Got Talent singing all over the world, Germany, Japan, Korea as well as TV appearances such as The View, Little Big Shots and most notably America's Got Talent where she premiered her Iconic Performance of 'Bohemian Rhapsody' which Queen gave her the copyright for. Her version is available on iTunes and Spotify & is included on her Album 'Magic' which she released on her own along with a Christmas Song collection. After Heidi's golden buzzer for her audition of BR, Angelina went directly to the finals where she sang YBR. After the "secret voting", she placed 6th in the competition and was eliminated from the competition. After first refusing to sign with AGT because of contract demands, a re-worked contract was eventually signed which freed Angelina from any commitments or record deal if she performed.
She has also sung for Many Heads of State including Barack Obama and a couple of songs opening for Norah Jones in Korea. She also sang at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert at 8 yrs old for Malala and another recipient. Mostly she has sung for charities helping raise millions for children charities and climate change. More that 200 artists have covered this classic, some very well, others not so much. I think this spectacular version by Angelina is the best, the most authentic, the most faithful to the original of the whole lot. I love watching people discover her for the first time. I just subscribed hoping for more reactions to the magical miracle that is Angelina Jordan Astar. Yeah, Astar is her last name (from her mother) but she chose to use Jordan.
Nothing on UA-cam like Angelina. By 10 her voice matured to not sound like a child. By 12 she had added depth and belting range. Her fans are constantly amazed by her growth. A lot of fans will recommend I'm Still Holding Out for You and Feeling Good (from Norwegian television) as a next listen.

Always love watching people discover Angelina for the first time! She was 9 years old here but had already gone viral when she auditioned on Norway’s got Talent at 7 years old. She went on to win the competition (she was 8 by the time of the final). Born in Norway, she moved with her family to LA when she was 12, now 18. There are over 200 videos out there, covers and originals, live shows, studio recordings, tv appearances, and just singing in her own home. You can’t go wrong, they’re all amazing!

AJ was 9yr 2m old here, when she recorded this session. It is HER arrangement of the 1956 original by Screamin' Jay Hawkins, hence the notes given to the band leader before the performance. By the end of the session, those musicians were calling her "the Boss". I should point out that by this age, Angelina had already entered "Norway's Got Talent" at age seven, and won it just after her eighth birthday; sung televised performances in Scandinavia, USA and Germany; been the chosen singer at the Presentation of the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize; raised millions for charity; written and performed her own songs; and was Norway's youngest ever published author. However, it turns out - she was just getting started........

Sir, I met children, that are like her, highly gifted. Their mind is 20 to 30 years older than their body. OOHH they are still children......sometimes! I assure you, that is partly still the case today. Her special gift in Music is a perfect ear combined with an instinct for music, that gave her the nickname THE BOSS. When grown up middle aged and elder musicians of some standing, are listening to a young girl, it says something. Last year at the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE CEREMONY, she sang with the well respected radio orchestra of Norway KORK. She arranged the whole thing.
Today musicians from all over the world know and respect her. Her nation still loves her, even when she resides in LA. They declared her "The National Treasure of Norway" when she was 8 years old.

You have entered a most incredible rabbit hole you will ever ever find the end and she just turned 18 in January and did her 18th birthday at a really nice hotel in Las Vegas. This girl has done so much so much more and hurt short life.
After recording, I sometimes find myself genuinely wondering how on earth I haven’t heard of some of these artists before. Literal hidden gems.

You hear stories of horrid mothers that let their child get up close and personal with the Hollywood crap. Her family (Uncle is her manager) .. remember they are Norwegian. While taking a stroll with mom, she saw a girl around her age sitting on the cold sidewalk, weighing people for a bit of money. The girl was wearing rags and scars on her feet, no shoes. Miss Angelina went over to ask and started a conversation. The girl was called Princess. A Princess without a court or palace, a princess of ruins. After Princess admired Miss Angelinas shoes, Miss Angelina took them off and gave them to Princess. Then she vowed to perform barefoot on stage until all children had shoes. She knew exactly, that would never happen.
Today she wears only shoes, while performing, in places with lots of glas, like the hotel café in LA or a restaurant, her family frequents. Even at the NOBEL PPC she was barefoot.

Well, welcome to the AJ Rabbit Hole! You are going to be bombarded by her fans called Angels that will fill you in on this music prodigy with an old soul from Norway. She's basically been a star since she was 7 years old. First and foremost, she is a jazz singer but has the ability to sing any genre. She also does all of her own musical arrangements. Even though she has been compared by many to Amy Winehouse, her major influence is Billie Holiday. Other influences are Dinah Washington, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Etta James, Whitney Houston, and Adele to name a few. Her love of jazz came from her grandmother playing jazz music around her when she was young. In 2014, she entered at age 7 and won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8. With her new found fame, she used it to appear on many shows from abroad and help raise millions for the less fortunate children around the world. At age 13, she was invited to participate on America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2020. She shocked the audience and the judges with her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. She received a standing ovation from all and got the Golden Buzzer from judge Heidi Klum to go straight to the Finals. Her performance went viral and even the group Queen responded on Twitter by saying, "Wow, what a rendition!" For Queen to respond to someone covering one of their songs is quite a feat since they rarely react to anyone. She did not win, but her fan base grew and expanded her popularity.
Now 18 years old, living in Los Angeles, and currently signed with Republic Records, whose clients include Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and Drake to name a few. Her family and Republic Records had agreed not to heavily promote her just yet so she can live as normal of a life as possible and finish her schooling. From what we know, she is finally done with school. She had a single that came out May 5th called Love Don't Let Me Go, a new EP called Old Enough that came out Friday, July 21st, 2023, a newly released video of her new song called Now I'm The Fool, and a new album of original music which will be coming out some time this year. Angelina released her new single, Our Time, and is fantastic! She returned back to Norway and performed at a number of sold out concerts in which fans from around the world came to see her. Many of the fans there said she sounded better live in person and was a once in a lifetime experience. On September 22, 2023, Angelina had her first U.S. concert that sold out in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. On December 11, 2023, she was asked to come back and perform at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert. She first performed at this prestigious event in 2014 when she was 8. On Feb.29th, 2024, she performed 2 shows on one night at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino. A film crew followed her and created a documentary of her called Angelina Jordan: 10 Years In The Making which premiered on her official UA-cam channel on March 29th, 2024. Currently, she is working with 3 time Grammy winner songwriter/producer Toby Gad creating new original music for her to sing. Gad has co-wrote and produced such big hits like All Of Me by John Legend, Big Girls Don't Cry by Fergie, If I Were A Boy by Beyonce, and Skyscraper by Demi Lovato and a number of others.
Her fans call her The Barefoot Princess. She always performs with no shoes when she sings. Why? The reason is very special. When she was 6 years old, she was traveling with her family in Iran where she met a poor shoeless girl in the streets that was about her age. She made money by weighing people. After speaking with her for a few minutes, Angelina noticed the scars on the girl's feet and asked the girl what her dream is. The girl said she wanted to be a doctor but she couldn't because she had to make money for her family. Angelina did what came natural to her, she gave the little girl her shoes and told her to not give up on her dreams. The girl then asked Angelina what her dreams were, Angelina answered that she wanted to sing for the whole world, and the girl said she would pray for her success. Since then, Angelina has performed barefoot in honor of that little girl and to those who are less fortunate around the world. She keeps this promise to this day. One of the reasons why we love her so much!

You have fallen into the vortex of Angelina Jordan who arguably brings the most confident, versatile, seemingly effortless, and fearless vocal artistry found today (whether measured across artists, genres, or decades). You may think this an exaggeration but listen to a few more of her many performances (170+ covers plus original songs - all on YT) and you will see! She has been performing at a high level all over the world since age 8 when she won Norway's Got Talent singing Billie Holiday, Nancy Sinatra, and Gershwin. It is the rare singer that can, as Angelina has done, go from Queen to "Screamin" Jay Hawkins to Adele to Elvis to Whitney Houston to Michael Jackson to Etta James to James Brown to Amy Winehouse to the Beatles (and many others in between) and do them all justice! f you want to hear music, listen to anyone. If you want to feel music, listen to Angelina. She will stagger you with her ability to find and bring forth the 'essence', the emotional message of nearly any song. You have far to go with Angelina. She is equally comfortable and equally able to impact us whether singing a cappella, accompanied only by a piano or guitar, in front of professional studio musicians or a 40-piece military band. With her immense vocal toolkit, arranging ability (yeah, that too, since about 8yo or so) and the work ethic to make what she does only 'seem' effortless, she will hopefully be touching hearts for a long time to come.

It is truly a conundrum when we try to rationalize how it is possible that this tiny sweet-faced 9yo Norwegian girl can step up to a microphone, flip some switch within her, become this "beast-mode" version of herself (most probably named "AJ don't play"), deliver an extraordinary and musically and socially sophisticated performance, then just-like-that return to the pensive young lady once again... There aren't words for this!
"I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock-rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne-type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video).
You must go and listen to Hawkins' original (and throw in a couple of "famous" covers as well) to see the true genius in how AJ incorporates many of his vocal elements [usually omitted by most singers]. This shows another aspect of her musical IQ and arranging genius (not to mention her masterful control of her vocal instrument equaled by few others regardless of age). YOU ARE NOT LYING! As soon as she opened her mouth, I’m just like 😳!! It really is unfathomable and such an incredible gift she’s been blessed with! I had my daughter (12) listen shortly after recording this and she was just as amazed at how mature she sounds and the level of control she has over her voice at that age.

9 years old here. Same age as she became Norways youngest published author. Her mothers friend advised her grandmother Angelinas diary should be published. Her grandmother illustrated it. Nobody in her family sings or is a musician. She had already won Norways Got Talent. Audition at 7 age 8 by the final, and sung all over the world. Her grandmother had also been a child prodigy so knew how to bring up one. Which is why you hadn't heard about her. She's 18 now. If you want to hear what she sounds like now at 18. Why Angelina always performs barefoot
For those who do not know.
At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina says she still thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. He wrote and performed it in 1956 and Angelina based her performance on the original, although she did make some subtle alterations to both lyrics and melody.
