However, and this coming from me as a confirmed fan of Angelina's magical talents --- I actually found this review a bit on the "mild" side. For me, she is just about the best singer I have ever heard in my life. Intensely perfect and expressive, yes, way beyond her years. But even that sells it short, because once she is much older, she will still be one of the best singers anywhere on earth, and in my view, she already is. My opinion. Angelina is a child prodigy and a musical genius. From song writing to arranging/composing/production choices (she has arranged everything she has sung including for the Kork orchestra for her spectacular performance of "Unchained Melody" at the Nobel Peace Prize presentation). Her choices are unique with seemingly an endless color palette to chose from, a depth of tone that is unmatched with fullness and body even in her gorgeous lower register, and the ability in storytelling and emotive connection she makes with the listener. She draws you into the song and makes it a very personnel experience, a place she calls her special place that is full of love. I am not sure I can properly describe it but for those moments--time stops, your stresses and troubles disappear and you become completely immersed in the warmth that is her world of sound. I will let others give her history and why she performs with bare feet and her philanthropy as she is just as unique as an individual as she is as an artist. She turned 18 this January and has recently done two concerts in Vegas that made her talk of town. Its general consensus, live she's even better. She hinted a tour. If you see tour dates I'd recommend to move heaven and hell to make it there. Otherwise you'll surely regret to have missed it as oppertunities to see her live are still scarce and probably will remain so for a while as she's about to start studying.
What makes her feel what she sings, even if she is not old enough to have lived a close experience, is empathy, and this girl has plenty of it to give and give away. That's what makes her transmit so well. I promised you, this song is only an example.

Welcome to the amazing world of Angelina Jordan. If you decide to go down the rabbit hole you will continue to find many many incredible performances. Angelina is currently 18. She is barely 9 in this video but almost a veteran already. She won’ Norways Got Talent the previous year after auditioning at 7. She had already appeared in several TV shows, sang for Nobel Peace prize recipients and recorded a few songs. All by the age of 8. Many will tell you that she is a jazz singer. That I feel is a little misleading. Yes she started out by studying the jazz greats by the time she was 3 and a lot of her early material as a young girl is mostly jazz, R&B and standards, but she is so much more than that. In reality most of her material (covers and originals) in her teen years and even a little earlier are more contemporary sounding songs or reworking of pop songs. However her early jazz roots has given her a unique jazzy style of singing. She has been writing songs since she was about 10 and says she has written over 100. 12 originals have been released to date, another debuted at her Vegas shows of a few months ago, and more will be coming soon.

I have watched and listened to her in awe since she released her first video on UA-cam, and what has been evident to me from the start is that she sings with total conviction, despite the fact that she is far too young to have experienced the events suggested in the lyrics of the song she has chosen to sing. But it is not only that, for strange as it may seem is the even more remarkable fact that she can convey the appropriate emotions within those lyrics to her listener. This is Angelina's tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, who wrote and performed the song in 1956 (50 years before Angelina was born). She based her arrangement on his original performance, although she discarded all the theatrics and allowed her voice and body language to tell the story. The song has been covered by many singers over the years, but to my knowledge, Angelina is the only one who has sung in the same style as the original. There are many things I found particularly worthy of note in this video. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed. Another Angelina "Angel" has pointed out something else which I had missed, and it is added at (l) below, (a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled. (b) A brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, Angelina's maternal grandmother, a well known and respected Iranian Artist and poet who was also a child prodigy. She was the person who recognised Angelina's talent at an early age and exposed her to all the old time jazz singers. (c) The candle with an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins on it. (d) The smile on the face of the Bass player. (e) How she rose on to her toes on the last occasion she sang "...because you're mine" (f) The fact she occasionally refers to her written notes on the music stand. Possibly to remind herself of the last minute changes she wanted. (g) Her unwavering passion throughout the performance. Evidenced by her facial expressions and the way she uses her hands and body to emphasise the direction of the song. (h) The way she takes a breath just before she starts the last phrase (I don't care.....) and that breath lasts the whole of that sustained note. A child of that age should not have the ability to hold a note for that length of time. (i) At the end, when she sings I Doooont Caaaaare, she employs TWO separate and distinct vibratos to the word care, a wide one to start the word and a tighter one to close the word (j) The instant transformation from "performance" mode to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better. I comment on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody. (k) Perhaps the most remarkable is that despite her tender years, she sings with such total conviction that her authenticity is never in doubt. It is easy to believe that she has experienced the events described in the lyrics. It is not only her voice that is mesmerising, it is also her facial expressions, and the way she uses her hands and body. Her stage presence is electrifying. (l) The performance absolutely is powerful and raw but to me, I am amazed that this is balanced by the profound beauty of the ending phrase; the last twelve words of the song. AND… they are essentially sung a cappella! Angelina has been referred to as the "Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the "colour" of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners.
Angelina is not only a magnificent singer but also a musical prodigy. This is HER arrangement. Of course she worked with the band and why the band nicknamed Angelina "The Boss".
You just opened Pandora's Box! Angelina has well over 200 songs on her channel, going back to age 6. Her voice is extraordinarily mature at all ages. Today she is 18 and sounds absolutely mind-blowing! In addition to school she got also vocal training at the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program (I read, that this school said, they couldn't teach her more stuff because she has all learned what she could learn in this school ;-) ) - and btw. she plays also grand piano, violin, flute and guitar, make her arrangements herself, wrote a book, sew clothes for herself (partly with art from her grandma like in her first AGT performance and in her music video "Shield"). Angelina's family wants Angelia to have a normal upbringing and be a child and teenager like everyone else. During Angelina's time off from school, she has performed in tons of shows all over the world. Most were charity shows for children. Angelina has lived in several countries and traveled a lot during her upbringing. She is well aware of the different conditions that exist in different countries! She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talked with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina sings barefoot to this day to remind herself (and the world) that there are still children in need. All book proceeds go to charity.

Angelina is 18 now and in her 11th year as an on-stage performer. She won Norway's Got Talent at age 8, singing Billie Holiday, Nancy Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald. She was just past her 9th birthday for this performance, although the video wasn't uploaded until a year later.

At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes.
Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina never learned the orphan's name but called her Princess. The orphan girl replied, "princesses live in castles, we live in ruins". Angelina titled her song about this story, "Princess of Ruins".
Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. However, and this coming from me as a confirmed fan of Angelina's magical talents --- I actually found this review a bit on the "mild" side. For me, she is just about the best singer I have ever heard in my life. Intensely perfect and expressive, yes, way beyond her years. But even that sells it short, because once she is much older, she will still be one of the best singers anywhere on earth, and in my view, she already is. My opinion. Angelina is a child prodigy and a musical genius. From song writing to arranging/composing/production choices (she has arranged everything she has sung including for the Kork orchestra for her spectacular performance of "Unchained Melody" at the Nobel Peace Prize presentation). Her choices are unique with seemingly an endless color palette to chose from, a depth of tone that is unmatched with fullness and body even in her gorgeous lower register, and the ability in storytelling and emotive connection she makes with the listener. She draws you into the song and makes it a very personnel experience, a place she calls her special place that is full of love. I am not sure I can properly describe it but for those moments--time stops, your stresses and troubles disappear and you become completely immersed in the warmth that is her world of sound.
I will let others give her history and why she performs with bare feet and her philanthropy as she is just as unique as an individual as she is as an artist. Her goal is to bring her music and love to the world. She calls her fans her Angels and when she tells them she loves them it comes from deep within her. She shows wisdom way beyond her years that shows in her interviews and her lyrics. At age 13, she was invited to participate on America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2020. She shocked the audience and the judges with her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. If you want to hear music, listen to anyone. If you want to feel music, listen to Angelina. She will stagger you with her ability to find and bring forth the 'essence', the emotional message of nearly any song. You have far to go with Angelina. She is equally comfortable and equally able to impact us whether singing a cappella, accompanied only by a piano or guitar, in front of professional studio musicians or a 40-piece military band. It is truly a conundrum when we try to rationalize how it is possible that this tiny sweet-faced 9yo Norwegian girl can step up to a microphone, flip some switch within her, become this "beast-mode" version of herself (most probably named "AJ don't play"), deliver an extraordinary and musically and socially sophisticated performance, then just-like-that return to the pensive young lady once again... There aren't words for this!
"I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock-rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne-type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video).
You must go and listen to Hawkins' original (and throw in a couple of "famous" covers as well) to see the true genius in how AJ incorporates many of his vocal elements [usually omitted by most singers]. This shows another aspect of her musical IQ and arranging genius (not to mention her masterful control of her vocal instrument equaled by few others regardless of age). Why does Angelina sing barefoot? The answer may bring a tear to your eye. It is related to a promise she made to herself and to the world when she was only 6 years old. She was traveling in the Middle East with her mom and grandmother and they came across a young orphan girl with no shoes and scarred feet. Angelina gave the girl her own favorite shoes. Angelina ask the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and she said a doctor, but she could not because she had to take care of her siblings. She asked Angelina the same question and Angelina said I want to sing for the world. The young girl said she would pray for Angelina. Since then, Angelia has forever performed barefoot as a reminder of all those less fortunate. At age 9 she wrote a book about this experience, Between two Hearts, becoming the youngest ever published author in Norway. She also has helped raise millions for children's charities. She even stated at 8 years old that she would be donating her winnings from Norway's Got Talent to charities. She turned 18 this January and has recently done two concerts in Vegas that made her talk of town. Its general consensus, live she's even better.
She hinted a tour. If you see tour dates I'd recommend to move heaven and hell to make it there. Otherwise you'll surely regret to have missed it as oppertunities to see her live are still scarce and probably will remain so for a while as she's about to start studying.

Angelina is currently 18. She is barely 9 in this video but almost a veteran already. She won’ Norways Got Talent the previous year after auditioning at 7. She had already appeared in several TV shows, sang for Nobel Peace prize recipients and recorded a few songs. All by the age of 8.
Many will tell you that she is a jazz singer. That I feel is a little misleading. Yes she started out by studying the jazz greats by the time she was 3 and a lot of her early material as a young girl is mostly jazz, R&B and standards, but she is so much more than that. In reality most of her material (covers and originals) in her teen years and even a little earlier are more contemporary sounding songs or reworking of pop songs. However her early jazz roots has given her a unique jazzy style of singing.
She has been writing songs since she was about 10 and says she has written over 100. 12 originals have been released to date, another debuted at her Vegas shows of a few months ago, and more will be coming soon.
Yes Angelina is young here but you have to keep in mind that she had already auditioned for the 2014 season of Norway's Got Talent at the age of 7 yrs, singing "Gloomy Sunday" in the style of Billie Holiday,

I hope you will do many more reactions to Angelina, as she is well worth every nanosecond you spend on her. I have watched and listened to her in awe since she released her first video on UA-cam, and what has been evident to me from the start is that she sings with total conviction, despite the fact that she is far too young to have experienced the events suggested in the lyrics of the song she has chosen to sing. But it is not only that, for strange as it may seem is the even more remarkable fact that she can convey the appropriate emotions within those lyrics to her listener.
This is Angelina's tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, who wrote and performed the song in 1956 (50 years before Angelina was born). She based her arrangement on his original performance, although she discarded all the theatrics and allowed her voice and body language to tell the story. The song has been covered by many singers over the years, but to my knowledge, Angelina is the only one who has sung in the same style as the original.
There are many things I found particularly worthy of note in this video. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed. Another Angelina "Angel" has pointed out something else which I had missed, and it is added at (l) below,
(a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled.
(b) A brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, Angelina's maternal grandmother, a well known and respected Iranian Artist and poet who was also a child prodigy. She was the person who recognised Angelina's talent at an early age and exposed her to all the old time jazz singers.
(c) The candle with an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins on it.
(d) The smile on the face of the Bass player.
(e) How she rose on to her toes on the last occasion she sang "...because you're mine"
(f) The fact she occasionally refers to her written notes on the music stand. Possibly to remind herself of the last minute changes she wanted.
(g) Her unwavering passion throughout the performance. Evidenced by her facial expressions and the way she uses her hands and body to emphasise the direction of the song.
(h) The way she takes a breath just before she starts the last phrase (I don't care.....) and that breath lasts the whole of that sustained note. A child of that age should not have the ability to hold a note for that length of time.
(i) At the end, when she sings I Doooont Caaaaare, she employs TWO separate and distinct vibratos to the word care, a wide one to start the word and a tighter one to close the word
(j) The instant transformation from "performance" mode to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better. I comment on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody.
(k) Perhaps the most remarkable is that despite her tender years, she sings with such total conviction that her authenticity is never in doubt. It is easy to believe that she has experienced the events described in the lyrics. It is not only her voice that is mesmerising, it is also her facial expressions, and the way she uses her hands and body. Her stage presence is electrifying.
(l) The performance absolutely is powerful and raw but to me, I am amazed that this is balanced by the profound beauty of the ending phrase; the last twelve words of the song. AND… they are essentially sung a cappella!
Angelina has been referred to as the "Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the "colour" of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners.

You just opened Pandora's Box! Angelina has well over 200 songs on her channel, going back to age 6. Her voice is extraordinarily mature at all ages. Today she is 18 and sounds absolutely mind-blowing! There is so much to learn about her - including that she has a large and extremely passionate fan-base known as Angels - but the best thing is to discover her work for yourself. It's funny that you mention Feeling Good. Angelina has a superb version of that on the Gir Tilbake Live stream. Angelina is 9yr 2m old here, and this is HER ARRANGEMENT of the song - hence you see the notes that she wrote for the bandleader, prior to the recording session. By the end of the session, the instrumentalists were calling her "the Boss".
Angelina's special talent, at 7, or at 9 as in this one, or at any age, is singing beautifully and transferring the emotions of the lyrics to the listener. She can and does perform in many genres and takes on the best of them.

I think she worked more off of Nina Simone’s version as it was the first jazz version but yes originally it’s written by Screaming J.

Born Jan 10, 2006 in Oslo Norway. From her audition on Norway’s Got Talent (2014 - age 7 - Gloomy Sunday "Billy Holiday") through the final on America’s Got Talent The Champions (2020 - age 13 - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road "Sir Elton John") and the 130+ videos in between you will not be disappointed. This includes three originals song: “What Is Life”, “Oslo” and “Shield” Since then she has done many new covers and now her new singles "Million Miles" and “7th Heaven”, along with her movie soundtrack "Mercy" from the motion picture “The Hating Game”. As well as her brilliant version of Elvis’s “Suspicious Mind”. She released her latest album “Old Enough” and it is definitely some of her best stuff. My personal favorite is her cover of Lana Del Rey's "Born To Die". Although the soundtrack is really growing on me.

She is the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina wrote and her Grandmother illustrated a book about why she sings barefoot. She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talked with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina sings barefoot to this day to remind herself (and the world) that there are still children in need. All book proceeds go to charity.
