- In this DIY, my special guest Sage shows the world how easy it is to replace a broken lug nut bolt. This is an easy fix and can be completed in under an hour with basic tools. Total cost of this job was $2.49.
Tools you will need
-Set of standard sockets or star wrench
-Hammer
-Punch
-New Lug Nut Stub/Bolt
-2 Washers & a Spacer Nut
-Car Jack
-Bottle Jacks for Safety
This not only makes Sage comfortable and knowledgeable in order to work on her own car someday but the confidence and self-sufficiency she'll gain will transfer over to other aspects of her life.
Sage is adorable. I just want to say that as a woman who was raised by a military dad with 3 older brothers, giving a young woman mechanical knowledge is priceless. I don't know how much money I have saved over the years by knowing a thing or two about cars. I've been quoted thousands for rack and pinion replacement, then went home and replaced the $20 tie rod ends. I was given a quote yesterday for over $400 for wheel hub assembly replacement because I have a broken lug stud (I'll be fixing that myself for about $3). On behalf of women everywhere, thank you for teaching her about cars.
Thanks Gail! Sounds like you have a wealth of information you can teach as well.
Also, as a lil-bit-older Female - I Thank The LORD ABOVE - for Giving me a dad who raised me in a Garage🥰🥰🥰🥰
Excellent! The most important thing is you are creating memories with your daughter.
Thanks for showing a tutorial from a kids POV makes it easier to understand than all the videos of people hammering the crap out of their wheel
Damn! That little kid is a better mechanic than A Lot of ASE mechanics I've run into over the years!
Right! ;)
Way to be a good father brother! that really warms my heart I do the same thing with my kids 👍👍
Thanks! Teach kids early and they will have something to serve them all their lives.
Sage is adorable and an amazing mechanic!
Came here for help and left with this info and inspiration when I have a kid someday… Father and kid goals!!
Nice!
I am jealous of your relationship with you and your daughter, you are an awesome dad
Shes a great kid!
That is so cool of you getting your little daughter to help you with mechanical things on a vehicle like that..
HOPEFULLY, she will retain what you have taught her about working on vehicles so if her car does break down, she will know how to fix it.
If not she will be able to go back to where you were teaching her how to work on vehicles, she could get herself out of a mess.
Good on you Dad. And keep up the great work with you and your daughter. So Awesome.
I ❤ it that you have your child involved. This is how tribes passed on knowledge. Hands on. Keep America 👍🏾 GREAT
Nothing better than living in Montana ❤❤❤ my dad and his two brothers were born in BUTTE... I lived there in 1987.. great to see your daughter helping like a champion 😃✌🤙
I love your little helper. ♥She gives it all and then asks for help.
Shes a rockstar for sure.
She's all Montana! My mom is from Montana and I can definitely see her doing the same thing at that age. Great job!
Awesome, I just busted a wheel stud and this probably saved me a bucket of money and a load of stress
She's absolutely adorable!🥰 Girls can fix cars too. Good on you for teaching her.👍❤️
Shes a rockstar for sure!
Your daughter is the smartest little girl and she knows her stuff!!! 🎉🥇🏆🥇🎉
This Man is what all American women these days seemingly did not have...... Folks this is called Parenting.!!!!! Great Work Mr. Mechanic LIfe!!!!!!
I do the same thing and my grandpa did this for my mother as well teach them how to live and survive life
My dad taught me about car repair years ago, he's been gone 37 years, im 67 and still work on my cars, saved thousands of dollars DIY. My mom was from Montana, but i cant remember what town.
You earned my like for your lovely girl. Good job both on the instructions as well as the well taught girl.👍🏻

6:12....."Wait! We need to drink some water. It is very hot outside." Love it. Good on you dad for teaching her some car repair.👍👍👍
She's adorable & daddy's little girl. More little boys & girls should be taught the basic auto mechanics.
How to have a happy marriage: make sure to tire out the kids with physical labor. Mix in the memory card games. You grow a good child brain. Peace.
Awesomeness! I used to help my father work on trucks & cars now I'm 50 and I just do it myself. Love my father❤🌹🙂 yepperz, he is also teaching his grandchildren too. Totally magnificent!! Keep up the great work! & keep learning Sage!! Thank you for water reminder also. 🙂
I needed to know how to do it step by step and i got informed and restored my faith in humanity. When id help my dad do something like this. I would hold the light and get yelled at. Your a great dad!
Teaching children how things are done is a great gift.
Right!
Thanks. Sage was a refreshing & fun note in a useful video.
Thanks for this video, I had a tire fall off and stripped all the studs, gotta replace them all.
Good luck!
Thank you for this. With daughters and grand daughters stuck overseas due to Covid for past 20 months this is the best medicine.
You bet!
My "little" girl is getting married next summer. Enjoy those young years. I'm enjoying these years too, but its different. I immediately recognized that hub cap as a 70's GM truck. Had several years ago. Thanks for the video.
You bet!
Fantastic video! You helped me to replace 2 broken lugs on my trailer. A little easier on my end since no brake assembly. Thank you Both for your help. And Definitely for the water suggestion, it was 104° during my repair.
Very cool!
Sir, i can't thank you and your daughter enough for this video😊👍 I just changed one of ny studs on my first car (Pontiac g3 2010). Me and my dad where changing the brake drums when we broke stud. Since we had no power tools, i figured we were done byt your video showed how to do it with just a ratchet! I went and bought a torque wrench and the right sockets and me and my brother and father finally got it done! Thanks!
She was fantastic!! Water is always key young lady
Right!

@@MechanicLife The stud doesn't want to come out. I tried with or without the punch and it seems to be stuck or something. I put W40 and waited a bit still nothing. Any suggestions? Thanks
Awesome video my guy...Sage has a great father figure!!
Love your videos Luke
Thanks
That child is going to be a success in life. Period.
Right!
Thank you! I was on a road trip with the family when my wheel started wobbling. Pulled over and saw several sheared! Thought "Well, looks simple but I don't know how to actually do it." Googled and found your video! You and your kid helped save the world today! :D Thanks.
Thats awesome! Good on your for taking it on yourself too.
Man this makes me excited for the future helping my kids learn to work on stuff themselves!
Pretty cool!
Wow, what a blast. I used to do stuff with My daughter bout that age. What memory bringer backers. Thank you go well, love to see people in the groove.

Well done! Thanks for the demo. And what a great Father you are, teaching your daughter valuable Life Lessons like: 1. Do it yourself. 2. Girls can learn, appreciate and do things which are typically for boys only. Kudos to you!
When women do more in any field, men stop complaining and what not about how hard or long something takes. Last night, My befriend mechanic was bitoching all this and that and it's almost sun down, cry cry cry about doing my brakes. He was trimming as I was mowing around at 5pm. I went in after cutting grass and put a pot roast in the oven and veggies, walked back out and put on the front brakes of my truck within 40 minutes. He was peddling around. I got in around 7 to finish cooking for both of US to eat and showered. Guess what he did: walked away slowly, washed up, and sat down to eat. Nothing came out about wut can't be done. He did thank me for cooking on a Friday nite. I work everyday and there's no time restraints or whatever excuse when things have to be done. We expose the true mentality of folk when others see the job vs it being just a guy's job. We need more females in plumbing, home contracting and auto.
Bravo for teaching you child to be independent, if needed, in auto maintenance
Gosh, I hope your daughter stays excited to be helpful. My 3 kids were excited to be helpful til about 8 and now that they are teens or pre teens, they throw massive tantrums whenever asked to do anything. Godspeed Sir.
I don't have any kids of my own, but always happy to teach nieces, nephews and buddie's kiddos how to wrench!
awesome, I saw so much love and good parenting skills in this video. Also you showed me how to do the wheel stud job. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the comment!
Thank you man your video was the helpfulest on UA-cam for this job
You bet! Thanks!!
This is awesome brother! Way to go Sage! I have 3 girls myself. Definitely planning some daddy/daughter time like this.

Hello there. From Brandon, Florida
Like 👍 your video saved me a lot of time, honestly I didn't know how easy this would be; I was about to take the wheel hub out and I thought about to look in you tube and your title was what I was looking for.
Thank you 🙏👍👏👏👏
Great!! Glad it helped you out.
Melted my Heart.
You Sir
Are a Wealthy Man.
So nice - father and daughter time. I miss my daughter.
Need more dads out here having their daughter fix cars with them.
Oh my God she is so cute, awesome job little girl😉......I can see you're going to be the main mechanic at a Chevy dealership someday soon 👍
I loved this video! My dad wouldn't let us drive till we learned how to change a tire and I'm proud to say that I've changed a lot of tires in my lifetime on not only my trucks but on friends' vehicles as well! I've even taught two people how to change tires on their cars when they were stranded & had no clue what to do. I've got a seized lug nut on my old 1986 Ford F-150 & am watching lug bolt replacement videos just in case anything bad happens, and that's how I stumbled upon this video. You have a new subscriber now! Keep up the great work! (And hopefully I won't need to replace my lug bolt but I like knowing that I can if I have to).
Thanks! That it a great story. Thanks for sharing!!:)
I also really liked that she highly encourages us to stay hydrated - smart girl!
Great kid, thanks for the advice. subscribed
Hello from Idaho and Thanks for the video!

Right on man! I've never had to replace one before and kinda freaked out today when I snapped one.. I feel alot better about it now that I came across ur video flexing how easy it is with the youngin! lol 🤣🤣
Yup not to hard;) Good luck on er.

Thank you brother I needed this. Wheel came due to loose lug nuts. Ripped two of the studs now I need to replace them. This was easy as hell!

Sage did all of the work btw.😄
Yup!
With a Dad like that, That young girl will become a CEO at a company. “That’s the way we do it here in Montana”, I LOVE IT
Wow that's so cute!❤
Nice bro cheers I just had to replace two studs on my Toyota hiace saved me from taking the hub out completely cheers
Thank you so much for showing me how easy it is! I had 3 shear off this morning on my 20yr old jeep.
You bet! Glad it helped you out.
Thanks this helped a whole lot! I'd say for the total noobs make sure to let them know they cant keep the washers and nut on and that you remove them right after tightening and pulling the stud through.
That is a very good point!
@@MechanicLife thanks for this helpful video sir, God bless
you’ve got one cute kid man. Thanks for the helpful video 👍
Glad to help!
Cute kid… future lady mechanic 👏👏👏
Woot!
Bless... well done sage... your just like my daughter Olivia, always wanting to give daddy a lift working on his cars :)
That kid is putting in effort! Great job! :D
She rocked it for sure.
It's always a sunny day in Montana isn't? Well daddy....stick around for winter time lol
If more people did stuff like this with there kids ,an no fakebook, we be in a different place, right now .
Ohh my lord you lucky man. Shes so cute!! Adorable little Nirvana shirt 🤘
Thank you for this. I am doing all 5 on one tire by myself today. The entire tire just took off without me while on the freeway.
Good luck. Thats scary that the whole tire came off!!!
Thank you. I was able to fix it since I made this comment. My confidence came from "it's so easy, even a kid can do it." I'm now about to back to that part of the freeway to attempt to find the lost tire, or mostly the rim. I was lucky to have a full spare on me.
You have a lovely assistant 🤩
She rocks!
Always great when you have room for nut, most cars today have a shield/dust cover you either cut or remove hub to do.
I came here to learn a quick fix, but stayed for the good parenting tips.
Wait first we need to drink some water it’s getting hot out here love that she cracks me up this dad is amazing dad n proud too
The great thing about it she has the knowledge and confidence to take care of her own needs without the aide of a man or wont be taken advantage of with male shop talk.
that's cool I m from Park County to and I didn't know how to replace my wheel studs on my Chevy thanks for the help
You bet!
Too cute. Great video!
