As an immigrant living in a foreing country I see the journey my mother made to give me a chance at a better life in this song. She passed away a year ago but this song hit me hard. I cried like a baby but no shame in that. This song brought lots of memories.

These 2 minutes are the first time in this series that I've finally perceived this world as "real" and deep. This series should have been all like this.
With this show I continualy find myself oscillating between finding elements that have such great promise , and being incredibly frustrated by things that change characters and themes that Tolkien wrote, but when i heard this song, everything of detail melted away and I felt the radiance of middle earth once more, though I should have expected nothing less from Bear McCreary
i kept my expectations at rock bottom, that is why i am enjoying the show. I don't know what people were expecting, especially in this day and age lol. I like it.

The best thing about Lord of the Rings is the stubborn resilience of the innocent little lives hidden amongst the violence of Middle Earth, and this song hit me hard. It's just so perfect, so much heart and soul in one little song.

I was almost in tears at this bit, I know there's this wave of people who think this show can't do anything right - but this scene took me back 25 years ago to when my dad would read and sing the songs to me from the hobbit before bed as a small lad

It's not as good as the original, the battle of episode six was poorly showing most cast and jumped around FAR TOO OFTEN. I won't give details but to me its just not the same. Still they done this song well! Almost made me cry also. Episodes 1 and 2 were terrible but 3-5 became intriguing at least

great song. somehow it reminded me of the teleri waiting for ulmo on the shores of beleriand. and osse teaching them about the sea and music. which resulted in cirdan staying in middleearth watching over the eldar travelling to aman. the teleri were great musicians...its remarkable how the music of the ainur prevailed in the children of iluvatar :-)

I grit my teeth watching the five episodes of this show. It was poorly written, the sets did not feel alive, the casts did not feel like they're on their best, some scenes are too long-winded, and the fucking slow motions are beyond useless. The music is the saving grace of the show, and the relationship between Elrond and Durin came far after that. This was the peak of the show so far, and the only time that made me remember that this show was an adaptation of Tolkien's work without forcing it with names and setpieces. The comments that mention that this sounds like Disney song isn't entirely wrong, it lacks a certain... amateurish? Earthy? feeling of the Hobbits. I really feel like songs like The Road Goes Ever On and The Man in the Moon Stayed Up Too Late that Tolkien made are candid songs lore-wise, made up at that time by the Hobbits. It's certainly not The Edge of Night, but it's not that bad.

But I almost didn’t watch the show at all because of all the negative reviews, and the show is a gorgeous, sweeping, captivating, epic cinematic work. So even though it isn’t the ‘right’ thing to do, I can understand it a little bit if you make such a tremendous work, discover there are millions of people who just love to hate, how do you protect people like me and communicate to me that those people are wrong, and that I’m going to find myself in tears from the beauty and epic grandeur three minutes into the first episode? If I were Amazon I would be rather frustrated and not sure what I would do myself.

Good to hear this travelling song representing a hobbit-folk oral tradition that will find its way up to Frodo's time and beyond.
Anyway, the song is sort of like a modern (pre 1858) migration song called "Sweet Betsy From Pike", sung by American pioneers wagoning westward.
