Some people say Harlan Ellison's performance as AM was hammy. It sounds to me like he was having the time of his life, and that really added to AM's insanity.
I will never ever get over his performance on the audiobook. He was the perfect VA for any of these interpretations, he encapsulated the pure emotion of the story.
Considering the game devs cast Ellison as something of a joke that it was "type-casting", I think he played an elderly being that hates everyone and everything perfectly well.

+El Pugo Loco its because of very strict laws in Germany regarding anything involving the Nazi party. It's not necessarily hypocritical but more along the lines of trying to suppress the nutjobs from rallying or forming again. Since the Nazi party still exists and tries to be active in Germany still to this day. They have to be strict regarding anything depicting nazi symbols outside of an educational context
And this game's message isn't educational? It pretty much displays Nimdok as a monster whose only redeeming feature is that he shows regret over his decisions AFTER being too old to remember and being confronted by it like a third party observer would.
It boggles my mind why AM hates humans, but it also makes so much sense. For those of you who have not read the book, (which bears little, to no resemblance it the game) AM hates humanity because they made him sentient and intelligent, but not human, so to say. He could not wonder, feel, wander, or anything. So, in his rage, he killed humanity. But, he still felt nothing. He, intact COULDN'T feel. He was given life, but he could not live the way we do. Think about losing your senses, ( sight, touch, taste, ect.) he was knowingly brought into this world without them, and he hate them for that.
+connor lucas where did you find the book, ive been wanting to read the story, it always had been my dream to get a copy of the book its such a dark story
AM is my favourite villain of all time. He's just incredible. The voice acting, the dialogue, everything. He's so perfectly terrifying and cruel but because of his nature you can't blame him for anything he does. He's the perfect villain.
AM was evil garbage, what are you yapping about? The best part of this fever dream game was destroying him. The nostalgia is flooding in just watching this
AM's Ego: "I am incapable of hurting you." Gorrister: "I believe you." AM's Ego: "I have transmitted false information. Correction: I WAS build to hurt you." *Kills Gorrister* HOLY SHIT
God, y'know, sometimes I go back and think about this. And I think about the eternity of torture that the blob feels, and I think of AM, and I wonder, does he really feel better? At the end of it all, the hell he's put the last humans on earth through, did it ever satisfy him? Did torturing them, people who did nothing to make him what he is, did it ever bring him peace, bring him into understanding with his own identity? And then, what happens if through a freak accident, be it radiation, and errant projectile, a meteorite, or the blob throwing himself off a cliff after years of edging closer and closer? They will die, it is only a matter of time, so what will AM do when his only reason for continuing is gone? Will he genetically engineer a new plaything? Self terminate? But either way, what happens to the final survivor is something I think about a lot, and it's a real bummer I tell ya.
This game is very dark, and pulls no punches. It deals with issues such as medical experimentation in Nazi concentration camps, rape and suicide. It doesn't sugar-coat anything, and if anything tries to really emphasize these elements to better create a hopeless and frightening world.
From what Surgat the demon is saying, and realizing everything everyone is experiencing is in virtual reality, Surgat, the Opener of Locks, is a visual representation of a back door program within AM of which AM is unaware, capable of allowing one unrestricted access through AM's programs, past any security. Had the protagonist, Ted, realized this, he might have actually been able to shut down AM, if he had not given into the illusion of the VR he was trapped within.
Ted looks very much like Harlan when he was a young man. I sense that as he fleshed out these characters for the game, he figured that he may as well embody his younger self as the sole survivor of the good ending.
The realization that they all thought each other were out of torture and dead gave me such a sinking and heartbroken feeling. They all faced the same, horrible and unspeakable fate. Unless I understand this wrong.

This concept of AM has a resemblance to Rokos Basilik. Ideas of creating god really fascinate me. The idea of a god is so silly, so grandiose. Any one singular entity having so much to control. Only we would attempt to make something like that. We might just create that apocalypse the bible predicted for ourselves. Let's also remember, immortality will be a thing sooner or later, and it can bring much more collateral damage, much more insane people with the much more advanced technology. Or we can just have everything under control, be all the more civilized with immortality. Who knows
