  • This video does not speak for all third guides as far as personal stories and feelings I’ve shared but there are many guides looking for a chance to speak to someone at Disney. Many of us are feeling hopeless and unsure what to do at this point. I have made this video in desperate hope it reaches the right person. This video was made to get the message out there and also a way for me to express my feelings. I have had too many thoughts eating me alive to keep silent. I am searching for the chance to speak to someone at Disney that can change the outcome. I would love to have my job back but mainly I would like to have my ban lifted so I can enjoy the parks when my family comes to visit.

    Our family was shocked when we heard about all of this. We’ve gone twice with a third-party guide, and we love him. He was part of planning my husband’s marriage proposal, and he helped watch our newborn during rides on our following visit. Pushed strollers, fed him bottles, all of it. We don’t want to go back to Disney without him.

      That’s awesome about the marriage proposal! I have many families devastated as well when they heard the news. I had some families planning trips to come back down just to do Disney with me and they are crushed just as much as I am. Anything you can do to spread the word on this or write into Disney is greatly appreciated from all of us guides and thank you for the positive comment 💞💞

    9:47 Disney’s liability in having third party tour guides watch young children and infants while parents go on rides with older children is too high. You seem like a very nice person, but what if a predator worked as a third party guide and a child was molested?

    • @rachelratliffrealestate
      @rachelratliffrealestate  4 місяці тому

      Our guests were aware we were not employed with Disney so it would not be a liability in Disney but there have been sexual predators within the Walt Disney they’ve had to fire so this can be an issue in any place of work unfortunately

    I think it’s unfortunate and I’m sorry this happened to you. I can understand why Disney would want to stop third parties from undercutting their prices. But they should have given you a warning at minimum. But to trespass you is a bit harsh.

      Thank you. I don’t feel we are even undercutting their prices because we can’t offer everything that the Disney guides offer and we even tell our guest that. I believe you all should have been given a warning and not in all around ban. However in your writing of the letter you did not do yourself a favor, instead of seeking an unban for yourself you pushed the 3rd party tour guides which is why you were banned. Understand 3rd party anything in Disney makes them liable as you are unofficially representing the company, Disney cannot account for any misinformation or false statements made by an unregulated tour guide. You are also profiting of Disney as a competing business as they have their own specialized tour guides and management team technically you are stealing from their business lastly if a guest gets hurt due to negligence or misinformation by a tour guide the third party will wipe their hands clean and the guest will go after specifically Disney as to these guest you are a part of Disney.

    • @rachelratliffrealestate

      I was definitely not pushing for the third party tour guides in my letter but simply explaining how we helped Disney and at the time of the letter I was very in shock and had just lost my main source of income so I was desperate to try and do what I could for Disney to see that. I have moved on past the touring now but am very disappointed I haven’t been able to get ahold of anyone just to talk about the ban. There are however thousands of third party businesses that make money off disney yet the guides were the only ones targeted. The company I worked for also made it clear that we were third party and did not have any affiliation with Disney.

      @@rachelratliffrealestate No I definitely understand what you were doing, unfortunately Disney doesn’t take it that way. I also know how heartbreaking it can be to lose a place you love, but I feel after a year your appeal should fall on the right ears but make it more personal and about what you love and what the place means to you. Personally if I was Disney and read your email I’d be offering you a job because you understand what makes the magic, and how to make a memory. A year will go by quick and then they will listen to your appeal hopefully rather quickly and get to enjoy the park. Just remember the third party tour guides came under fire due to the handicapped tour guides abusing the privilege and unfortunately that trickled down to you honest hard workers.

      Do you classify McDonald's as competition to $300+/person fine dining restaurants? Point is, they aren't competition - they aren't serving the same markets/demographics. The Disney tour guides are, at MINIMUM, $3,150 PER DAY. That's top 1% money. These tour guides are serving middle-class and disabled families. I have a friend who is disabled and needs a scooter, but her son is also disabled and needs to be pushed in a wheelchair (per Disney rules, he CAN NOT ride his own scooter). She obviously can't push him herself. Without a guide, they can no longer enjoy Disney parks. They had planned to go in May, they had to cancel their trip as their normal guide was banned. Whatever their reasoning, they should offer more affordable options to replace the services, especially for disabled guests.

    Most of the third-party guides were abusing the DAS system. So, instead of figuring out who was doing it, they probably just decided to ban them all. Definitely not accusing you personally of doing anything, but I know for a fact that's how a lot of them operate.

    My travel agent gets paid her commission directly through WDW Corporate, not their clients. They are affiliated partners of WDW Corporation. WDW Corp sends them information in advance so they can be prepared to inform their clients of new travel options. You can’t really compare what a travel agent does & what a 3rd party tour guide does.

      Not all travel agents operate this way and that wasn’t really the main point of my video anyways. The main point of my videos is just to try to get ahold of someone to talk to but I was just stating there are many other people who make money from Disney that Disney does not employ

      If someone is going to a travel agent that is charging them more than booking it yourself, then that is the wrong travel agent to go to. I do understand the point of your video. WDW management stated in their reply letter to you that you could reapply in One Year for your ban to be lifted. Just because you can’t go to WDW Resort you are still free to go to Disneyland or any other Disney Park in the world. When life gives us lemons, sometimes it’s best to use are energy on other positive things in our lives. You are a young lady in good health, there are so many other things you can do in your life. Ignorance of the rules is no excuse and honestly if I were you, I’d be more concerned with what else your employer has been doing or not doing that they are supposed to be doing. Third parties still brought Disney money so the coffee and cookie analogy isn’t relevant. We highly encouraged guest to stay on Disney property and booking dining reservations, took stress off their trip and created experiences that now want to make them come back more often. We also required the purchase of genie +.
      I have been banned and been actively looking for other jobs but with the holidays here the timing hasn’t been great.
      I am fully aware Disney is a private company and can do whatever they want, I’ve only lived in Florida for four years and from my understanding third parties had been around for almost 30 years so all I’m saying is a warning would’ve been nice before getting banned, there are thousands of other people who make money from Disney that Disney doesn’t employ so I’m just not sure why all of the sudden we were the only ones with consequences. So hold on, why would your example family need to call their travel agent to cancel reservations they had, unless they weren't reserved under their own names? Is this one of those travel agencies that is doing 'ghost reservations' and other tactics to secure reservation times? With the My Disney Experience access, every guest who is registered under their own name should be able to cancel completely on their own. There's a lot of sketchy workarounds being used to 'make magic' for guests by third party operations.

    • @rachelratliffrealestate
      @rachelratliffrealestate  10 місяців тому

      The travel agents I know make reservations following all the rules. I could’ve canceled them on the account as well but many families I’ve had use a travel agent as well so since the travel agent made them the women automatically thought to text her to cancel. I was trying to get the kid calmed down and help the parents but would’ve gladly been able to cancel them myself. However they were popular reservations and I knew they wouldn’t want to miss out on those experiences. Nothing sketchy about anything any of the third parties did that I know. Unfortunately it only takes a few people to ruin the name for everyone 😕

The economy is struggling therefore Disney and ALL parks are suffering! People that can afford high dollar tour guides, DISNEY WANTS ALL THAT MONEY THEMSELVES BECAUSE THEY ARE HURTING FINANCIALLY THEMSELVES! Its the same thing with real estate, people are not doing great economically so therefore it's a cutthroat sector of business. They will say it's not personal and only business because of your love for Disney, but they only care about the money. Not about that children and adults love Disney. If I were you I would focus on starting a nonprofit business that would aide in helping society somehow because that's what really needs help.

Here’s the bottom line: Disney usually rejects these trespass appeals so soon. My recommendation is to contact an attorney. I am a career artist and entertainer and I have been for 30 years. Back in the early days of my career when I was not just starting out I had already been a little bit established but I was a young kid in my 20s and I went to an open audition for Disney. It was the theme parks I go in, I do my audition and the door is slammed in my face, at that point, I had taken some professional courses in acting that also taught you about networking and basically I just took it for what it was. You know I was starting to develop a thick skin so it didn’t bother me too much back on it now. What does bother me is that I not only Have seen videos like this talk about the mistreatment, but I do know somebody who I worked with years ago. She was a very established actress singer, and Director very talented and a very kind person. She had really made a name for herself in the Massachusetts area where I am stationed out of and still am to this day, she had gone to another open for Disney and got cast in one of the shows as a lead performer, singer and actress so she gave up everything she had here transferred her kids to a school in Florida. She was a single mom at the time and packed her bags and moved out to Florida to work at I think it was a show at Magic Kingdom. I don’t totally remember, however, and within six months of the run of the show, it was supposed to be a permanent addition to Disney at the theme park and within six months the show was canceled now based on what they paid her which was pretty terrible. I don’t know how much she got paid, but from what I heard it sounded like it was below minimum wage or somewhere around there, she did not have the money to pack her bags and move back to Massachusetts so she and her kids got stuck in Florida and they transferred her to one of the gift shops for the same amount of money she was making for the show. With me after that experience, I started getting some really good performance work as a lead performer in a lot of shows that at the time were considered nontraditional theater stuff that is really on a more contemporary level and today I referred to it as counterculture theater. This played a huge role in establishing me on where I am today and what has kept me a viable entity in the throat industry that I have been in now successfully for 30 years. So to be honest to this day I count my blessings that that door from Disney was shut in my face. My heart goes out to everybody who has suffered at the hands of working for Disney. Having said all of this, I totally commend this woman for what she is doing. She is totally doing the right thing and I do hope others who may be receiving the same treatment will step up and speak out about this.

    Ummmmm…..I do not see an issue here. How a THIRD PARTY company thinks it’s okay to offer a service that Disney offers in THEIR parks, taking business away from them in THEIR parks is mind boggling. I don’t care if the company has been in business for 30 years. I’m actually surprised that Disney allows outside food and drinks. No theme parks do. Because they want you buying THEIR products. Shoot, even our schools here don’t let you bring outside food and drinks to the sporting events because they want you buying their concessions. Is it okay to go into Target and sell goods? Is it okay to set up a grill in McDonald’s parking lot selling burgers? Would you set up a coffee machine inside Starbucks and sell coffee? It’s the same thing. I’m sorry people lost their jobs, but as far as “fair” and expecting a warning….its plenty fair and Disney doesn’t need to provide a warning. But, they may have given the company you work for a warning and they chose not to say anything to paint Disney as the “villain” when in fact, that company is in the wrong. They are lucky Disney allowed it for so long.

    • @rachelratliffrealestate
      @rachelratliffrealestate  9 місяців тому +1

      The companies did not receive any warning either it was a shock to all of us. The analogies you are using aren’t the same thing. We brought a better experience to guests who most wouldn’t pay the price of a Disney VIP so we aren’t taking all the business away from their tour services but creating magical experiences for people who would otherwise do the parks on their own and make them want to come back time and time again because of us, we’ve had people tell us this. We encourage dining reservations and staying on property, encouraging guests to spend money in the parks. I am not defending anything about what Disney can and cannot do as I am aware they’re a private company and can do whatever they want but if people are going to comment on the situation I just wish they would understand the full situation. All I’m asking for is a chance to talk to someone as Disney and at the very least just get some closure.

      It's a classist and ableist decision, and honestly, a poor business decision. Many families won't attend Disney anymore as they need help navigating the parks and Disney's tour guide costs are WAY too high, *the LOWEST it could possibly be is $3,150 PER DAY.* That's a cost only the top 1% can afford. Not to mention the massive tours for international travelers. They aren't going to be getting the money the tour guides were getting -- they were serving different demographics already. Let's say they DID ban letting you bring your own food and drink. This is like them then saying "now we've banned quick service, you can only eat at our a la carte table service for $100/person". That would price out a LOT of families, losing a great deal of money. See how that would make no sense? This is the same sort of thing. They're not gaining money by the ban as those families can't afford their services, but they certainly will be losing money from families who can no longer attend. I have a disabled friend who needs a scooter and a young son who can't (per park rules) ride his own scooter yet needs to be pushed in a wheelchair. Without hiring a guide she literally can't go to Disney -- they won't let her just tow him around, it's a safety issue. She certainly can't afford over $3K per day. It effectively bars many poor families and disabled people from enjoying the parks.

      Your comment doesn't have merit. Usually when people say inflation, they mean it in terms of "why people aren't spending". That's not the case here. People are spending to go to Disney. Rachel had other tours booked and she wasn't taking away from their main profit (ticket sales). Disney would rather have people spend 400 - 600 dollars an hour for their Disney tour guides. Maybe you're particularly hurting b/c of inflation but a lot of other people are booking trips. Disney simply wants their margins to improve due to a variety of reasons, and yes it could be inflation but not the only reason.@@JessicaSalenaOrtiz

    One big issue is that the 3rd party guides were telling their customers to request the DAS pass, claiming things like IBS, to 'hack' the system to guarantee more rides. There are other things they do, too. Some are 3rd party guides with the DAS pass. They are also hogging the dining reservations months in advance so others can't get reservations... That's just some of the issues, but they are also cracking down on anyone who is making an income in the parks without permission. This has happened to some Disney bloggers and streamers, too, who are causing problems and complaints.

It was a very small percentage of third party guides who did this and regular guests abuse the system as well not just guides. As with the dining reservations we didn’t have access to make them any further in advance than any other guests and we only made reservations for what our guests wanted.

      fake das pass and fake scooter users are ruining the park - so is all the dvc crap

      @jhillestad How do you know they are fake? I have to use a ECV. I hate it .but I couldn't last 5000 steps before crying in pain, so it's a literal lifesaver for me. I am lucky be be alive after some jerk nearly killed me in a car accident a few years ago. I've had two major surgeries on my leg in the last 18 months. Im lucky I can walk at all, usually with a cane... I'm lucky I'm alive,.frankly... since my car flipped 8 times across an entire freeway. I also suffered neurological issues and I struggle with people getting too close to me. Going to the parks.is.part.of my physical and mental therapy. But sire enough, some @-hat usually comments about me being a 'fat chick' too lazy to walk and.how I wouldn't need a cane if I just moved more. 🙄 We'll, Id.trade places with the more able bodied people anyday!! 10 years ago I was backpacking for weeks on the PCT ... now I'm in physical therapy 3 times a week thankful I can walk at all. Yep, I have DAS and I use a scooter. It's the obly.way I can possibly experience the parks right now and I'm thankful for it. I've tried without both and I did NOT do well.
      Point being, you can't assume anything about people. Are there people taki.g advantage? Sure.. but I don't think it's an advantage. Navigating the parks.in an ECV with DAS can be really difficult and time consuming. While the park is mostly accessible, some.thimgs aren't and able bodies take things for granted

    I would love a full explanation of what a 3rd party tour guide does

    • @rachelratliffrealestate
      @rachelratliffrealestate  9 місяців тому +1

      As a third party guide what my job was to do was take the stress off the families and plan their day. So I am taking care of booking all the genie + stuff (we purchase it on the families account and book stuff like every other guest). Since we are in the parks so much we just know how to maximize the system and things to do to fill time when you don’t have a lightening lane so guests aren’t waiting more than 20 mins for anything and their day just flows without them having to think about anything. We are also navigating the parks for them, pushing strollers, carrying bags, mobile ordering and bringing their food unless they have a dining reservation and my favorite part was making extra magic by pointing out hidden mickeys, sharing park history and the details Walt Disney put into the park and stuff like that. I may post a video to explain everything but hope this explanation helps!

      Unfortunately I still haven’t gotten ahold of anyone for answers so I’m not sure. I know they are a private company and can do whatever they want but a warning definitely would’ve been nice, especially since it’s something that’s been around for well over 20 years 😞

    Give the company some time to cool down, the company is going through major issues at the moment. I bet they will remove your ban in 1 year after you appeal a second time. You sound genuine, don’t lose heart.

    Haha good, you deserve that ban. Instead of going against Disney's rules and calling yourself a Disney tour guide when you're not cuz working for a third party, why don't you actually get a legit job at Disney if you like it so much? What a concept!

It's crazy how they expect an explanation for breaking the rules.Disney never allowed this,it was never legal.They are now just enforcing the rule and she was caught. After a year,they'll let her back in but she'll never be able to be a tour guide again. Pretty soon Disney is going to crack down on UA-camrs like Universal did.

      Thank you, means a lot! You are definitely correct on Walt’s dream. He was a big family man and wanted the parks to be for everyone and once people were in the park he wanted it to all come to life for people and this is not how the parks are anymore. It’s just crazy I studied so much disney history and things Walt did that the average visitor doesn’t know and I shared this with my families so they could truly see how much detail went into things and to get banned for sharing Walt’s magic is still a nightmare I’m waiting to wake up from right now. I will definitely have to be going to universal more. I love Harry Potter but grew up with Disney so I just don’t have the same passion at universal but I’m going to have to learn!
