- A fire erupted Monday morning at a four-story apartment building in the city of Miami, and a man was found shot just outside it, authorities confirmed.
I will never live in a large apartment complex ever again.

i’m thankful i live in a 3 story building and the staircase is outside. so as long as i can get to my front door i won’t have to worry about getting trapped in a stairwell or something but yes it’s such a gamble, i watched a building in my old complex catch fire, because 1 person threw water on a grease fire they started in their kitchen. having to rely on other peoples responsibility and intelligence is def a big risk

I moved to a house, can't stand those little children turning their water on and flooding my apt. The other risk was turning the gas stove on, (without the fire) while the adults are sleep.

That building was built in 1920 which means it was most likely constructed using Dade County Pine also known as Slash Pine. That would explain why they are having a tough time extinguishing it. I've seen a few of those apartment buildings go up in S. Florida. Once it gets burning, it is very hard to put out which is why it was banned around 1930.

The shot at 7:06 shows fire on floor below Top floor. If it started there and found a void into the cockloft that would explain heavy fire up there. Wood frame is an organized lumber yard waiting for a spark.

Not a fan of stick construction in over two stories tall. I do not care how many precautions taken to prevent this from happening.
I blame the insurance companies for giving this type of construction a pass.

Years ago when i was living in Portland, OR I came very close to renting an apt in a building that became a total loss from a major fire. I did rent an apt in a building right across the street though so when the fire occured i witnessed what would have been my apt.going up in flames. I shudder to think what my life would have turned out i had taken that apt. . I still think about that fire from time to time especially when i see videos like this.

we all need to be on high alert this isn't normal people this is countrywide weird out of the ordinary happening's across the good ole U S of A
And I suppose we’re gonna learn that there is no sprinkler system in the building, and most likely it probably isn’t even up to code it. All they did was cosmetically alter the façade I can only imagine structurally, but the whole complex now will probably be knocked down, probably half of the buildings in Florida are going to be going.
All elderly or infirm people should be housed in bungalows or the ground floor of apartments 🎉🎉 we need to make sure we look after our elderly alot of youngsters today fly the nest and forget the people that brought them up. Im luck my youngest son lives with me otherwise id be stuck alone with no help.
