- Hello there! Welcome back if you've been here before, hello to all you new folks! Today, we installed the facelift headlights on Tyler's Mk7.5 GTI! The install was pretty simple, however there was much banter and memes which explains the length of this install video. The outcome of this install is amazing. The car looks miles better than with the halogen lights that came on the S models stock. Actually the S model IMO is the best one. Its the only one with the Plaid seats, lightest usually means quickest even if its a tenth here or there. Best bang for the buck fun car on the market👍👍
similar experience with the Vland ones I got for my gti-s non lighting package. just had to buy the Dh2 and high beams bulbs separately make the car look 1000% cleaner. and better lighting driving at night. Just clear coat or ppf the head lights so they don't peel in the 2-3 year mark like most aftermarket headlights

Best video I’ve come across. Only needed to know how to replace bulb & canbus/ballast.
So if the headlight is not upside down, how do you insert the bulb?

Same process as we showed in the video! Just push down and twist. You should feel the bulb in the grooves and it will stop turning when it’s all the way installed
i have a 2017 golf gti s with the basic headlights and i just bought the mk7.5 upgraded headlights can you send me a link to a kit i would need for the hid bulbs?
So on BMP tuning's website, if you go into lighting there is an HID upgrade kit in there. I don't believe that's the same one we got, but most of the parts seem the same

Thank you! He was mostly using a T25 socket to get the bumper and grill off! The actual headlight is held in by 5 or 6 T30 bolts, can't remember exactly how many. So just a basic set of Torx sockets will do the job!

I’m sure you’ve already gotten rid of the stock lights, I would love to buy the bmp ones for mine but $650😂 you still have your oem lights I’ll buy them.

I just installed these in my mark 7.5 golf r line, followed the instructions perfectly, watched this video got it all good. During the day yesterday it was fine and then at night went for a drive and the passenger side just went off, then I pulled over turned my car off then it came back on, then it went back off? Do you know if this is my cars fault or the actually a faulty headlight or bulb? Any help would be appreciated sorry for the long comment
Sounds like it may be a faulty unit. We didn't have any issues like that with ours. Sorry to hear :(

Does it work for my golf gti clubsport mk7 2017
To our knowledge, clubsport models come with xenon/LED's from the factory so this kit would not work. You would need to find a kit that works with xenon/LED vehicles, unless we're wrong and the clubsports come with halogens.

Yoo thanks for the vid guys! Definitely used your video and many others to help with my install. Assuming you had to do some headlight adjustments, how did you guys reach the left and right low beam adjustment, if you had to, when the headlights were installed?
Haven't had to adjust them yet, most likely you'll just have to open the back and try to squeeze your arm in there until you feel the adjuster
@@DubChasers I just got back from trying to adjust them actually LOL. Like you just said, got to squeeze your hand to reach it. I opened up the fender liner to get better access to the left and right low beam adjuster. Probably the only adjustment with a tight squeeze.. haha. Thanks for the reply!!
Hey guys i have one like that but its too bright people flash at me like i have my beams on but i dont its high up i think needs adjusting how do u adjust the headlights an beam lights please theres a screw kind of thing on headlights not to sure
So we haven't exactly needed to adjust ours yet, but I imagine if you loosen the screw on the headlight and then point them more downward and re-tighten the screw, that should do the trick!
Are the DRL's a bit bluer color tone than the low beam bulbs?
I don't believe so, if they are off it's only by a small amount

So i have a mk7 with normal halogen headlights. Not even the ones you had prior to the video. I’m looking into getting a 7.5 style for my mk7 just like the ones you installed. What exactly do you think I’ll need to run hids on my halogen setup?
Thats a great question! Good news is we did exactly that on our red Mk7! That video will be coming out in the next week or so but if you visit the link in the description, they offer 7.5 style headlights for the Mk7 :)

Hi. Great video. What bulbs car in the replacement headlights and what did you replace them with? We’re they brighter then they bulbs in the headlights already? I’m getting mixed info that the LED bulbs in those headlights are the brightest and that there aren’t any other bulbs brighter
Thank you! As far as we can remember, I don't believe there would have been any difference in brightness, just the temperature of the light (how yellow or blue it is).

They should fit your son's GTI as long as he has the base halogen headlights. If he has the upgraded HID headlights, they won't work. You could probably find a similar set on UroTuning, ModdedEuros, or ECS Tuning. Hope that helps!
Being a replica, how is the quality of the materials? Does it come complete with ECU to reset OBD errors? Brand?
Quality is pretty good for being a replica. Wouldn't notice a difference unless you had them next to an OEM set probably. The brand is BEC I believe? We got them from BMP Tuning but other alternatives are probably similar in quality. No ECU errors with these! Just plug and play.
Thinking about getting one of these from BMP Tuning for my MK7.5 facelifted model. Only thing is I’m not sure whether the high beams are separate from the low. In other words, do the low beams on this model also work as high beams when switched on or are the lights completely separate? I watch the whole 30 minutes patiently waiting to see but it never came lol. Thanks and great job on the video, it was way better than what I’ve seen before it 👏🏻
Sorry about that! Probably should have given a demo. The highs are separate from the lows
@@DubChasers hey so I got them (with LEDs in the projectors) and noticed there’s a roughly 2.5 second delay after I switch off the turn signal before the white DRLs come back on. Does this happen with yours? I think it might be the LED models only....
@@stevenaziz Yes that delay happens on ours as well. Not exactly sure what the cause of it is but hasn't bothered us too much

Hey man question. Do i need to buy the D2H bulbs? Or also the HID canbus/balast module? For the low beam
Hi, I have installed mk7.5 headlights on my mk7 and when the lights come on I only get dipped headlights, the drl line which goes across goes off... I’d rather both be on at the same time like yours, how do I do this?

Thank you! If I recall correctly we just used double-sided 3M tape and stuck them to a flat surface on the back of the headlights

@@1994ryanlee No errors, and if you want to adjust them you have to do it yourself unfortunately. No auto adjusting in them

So the facelift SE/Autobahn headlights can’t be coded to have sequential turn signaling?

Did the headlights come with the conversion kit and bulbs? Or did you purchase the headlight and bulbs and conversion kit separately?
The kit we specifically installed was separate. However, the kit in the description has the option to add them on.
Nice looking headlights! how are they so far? I plan to upgrade my headlights on my Mk7. I was intending of purchasing OSRAM headlights but apparently they're only compatible with electric headlights and not manual headlights according to the manufacturer, kind of a bummer..
They're pretty nice so far! We have a video on installing these on a Mk7 if you're interested!
I have to ask what size bulb did you in stall H7? after upgrade?

The link where we purchased them from is in the description, we also gave our thoughts on the install at the end of the video, but essentially it is pretty easy and anyone could do it. No coding required! All plug and play
@@DubChasers if you have adaptive front lighting does it work with these headlights?
@@coltoncook4680 We're not exactly sure. These are halogen replacements and to our knowledge, halogens don't have adaptive lighting
@@coltoncook4680 if you have the lighting package on your Golf then these will not work and installing these is besides the point because if you have adaptive lights then you also have LED lights. I hope that helps.
Any trouble shooting with leveling the lights? I know my bulb pattern is very similar with h7 hids and same housing but bought from urotuning. The lighting doesn't seem level after install and might need to see what everyone else has to help with ensuring level lighting. Love this look though and the sequential turn signals is all worth it, better than the oem on off R helix lights
If I remember correctly, they were pretty spot on with the level. The ones we put on the Mk7 had to be adjusted a bit due to the fact that they were blinding everyone. We haven't tried adjusting anything internally, but you could always try to adjust the entire housing.
@@DubChasers I noticed after a few days driving at night with them, that the throw on the lights weren't that great, not sure if there is any other way to adjust them, thought there was an adjustment screw or something on the housing allowing to adjust either up/ down or left/ right?
@@chrisferrocious4990 Most likely there's something internally to adjust them, like a screw. We haven't had to adjust ours yet so we're not entirely sure where that is

Did you notice any spotty paint on the chrome part of the headlights?
No we didn't, they were in pretty solid shape when we installed them!
Does the adaptive light feature still working ?
I don’t believe that was an option on our vehicle

Hi, great video and content as always. I was wondering what made you choose the HIDs over the LEDs? Also, did the bulbs come with the headlights?
Thank you! The HID kit just looks nicer. I'm not sure on the pricing on the LED vs the HIDs but I would assume the LEDs are cheaper

They're great! No real issues, other than slight adjustments with how the housings sat when we initially installed them

Thank you! Yes, this upgrade will fit on your 2020 GTI S model. This could be done by any shop really, only an hour or so of work so very easy upgrade!

2: hylux HID kit with 5500k
what’s the main difference ? Like would I need to by anything else bulb wise if I was to go with option ? As I am looking for light upgrade for both high and low beam

@@pilot876 Can't recall exactly which option we went with as the retailer who we got them from are sold out. I think we got the Hylux HID kit with the 5500k bulbs? Definitely didn't stick with the stock bulbs.

I believe these are fitted just for the 7.5 which is 2018 and 2019 .. there are other similar ones that will fit the 2015
