When I use the knobs with the Bench dogs fence I do not have to use a "spacer" to tighten the dogs to the table. Using the square elevates the dog so that it gets tight when you tighten the knob. There may be some knobs that have a shorter thread that will give the same results without the square that I use as a spacer.
Does the subtraction have anything to do with this?
