Nice sized trout(s)! You found the fish-candy with that "bunny royale" at dusk. Eagles, ducks and the "Rosinator" at gorgeous Rice Lake. Thanks for sharing @Rosinflyfishing. See you soon!
Thanks for watching Joe! It was a great evening of fishing :)
Good ole Bunny Royale smackdown. Maybe they were taking it as a damselfly nymph?
Interesting it could be now that Rachael has taught me that the adult blue things are damselflies and then I looked at what their nymphs look like! I feel like a dummy haha but still learning which is fun!!
"cuz im so bad at fly fishing" while he perfectly roll casts across the whole lake😂😂
Hey, I'm trying!
Fun video! Sometimes when those blue damselflies are all over, I’ll throw on a blue dry fly that looks similar and they just nail it!
Interesting thought. I don't have anything remotely blue but may have to acquire a couple now. Any recommendations for pattern?
@@RosinFlyFishing Actually, I’ve found some flies that are a great imitation…google parachute damselfly😊
Those fish were super fat little footballs. Loved the vid and those neck snapping hooksets were are on point.
Haha I try to hookset occasionally when I'm paying attention
What a great video to wake up to. Wow colours and well worth the wait...😊. Georgeous looking fish, nice to see them so plump!
Thank you for your words Ian! Makes me feel good :) yes they were quite a nice size of fish!
Great video! Wives are always good luck charms! Love watching those indicator downs! Never gets old! My son and I both say we dream of bobber downs!
Haha yes they are, sources say they are also always right, like about everything! :)
In the interior, under an "indicatior", you either sit or fish.
When it's chronies and you know the colour and the depth, you just let it sit and wait.
Leeches, damselflies and shrimp, you give it a pull. About a foot. Causes the fly to rise up and fall back down. All natural like. How long you wait depends on water temps.
You gotta go to Edith Lake or Jocko, just to start. Kamloops. You can fish from shore, I can tell you where.
Just started Euro nymphing. 50 years of flyfishing and I get to learn something new.
How cool is that.
Thank you for the comment! I've never fished those kinds of waters before and I've heard that it's some people's favorite thing to do so I'll give it a go some day.
Definitely one thing I love is that there is always a new technique to explore and then master. If we aren't learning, we're dying :)

Edith Lake is about 17km south of Kamloops proper, 5A up to the Knutsford Hall, Long Lake road up to the Chicken Farm that's now a pot farm, then up Edith Lake FSR, which is really a 2 lane gravel until you get to the Hammonds, about 6 k past the lake, where it becomes a real FSR.
Rodney from Fishing with Rod has some video's.
There's Brookies and 3 different strains of Rainbows.
Started fishing if from a boat, then a pontoon, then a belly boat, (fish finders) but then I got to know the lake, and would just fish it from shore, stopped even wearing waders, just gumboots.
BTW, there is still a Traveler Sedge hatch in the back bay, that's fun.
They definately put some good sized ones in last week. I was there when the truck showed up and caught a solid 1lb fish out of the school of 1000 that were swimming behind the dock. Nice to see you had a good day out there.
I was pleasantly surprised at the size as well :). I heard behind the dock was amazing for a day or two haha
Thank you for posting another exciting fishing adventure with lots of fish and amazing nature! It's 30 degrees Celsius here. If I were at a place like you are in the video I'd go swimming 🙂
Thanks for watching Adriaan!! Swimming is not allowed in this lake and sadly someone died swimming here recently :(
@@RosinFlyFishing That lake doesn’t look dangerous, only for people who can’t swim or who are on drugs, maybe. Anyway, looking forward to your second fishing adventure of the weekend! 😊
Those blue insects are damselflies not dragonflies. Damselflies rest their wings over the abdomen while dragonfly wings rest perpendicular to their body. I’ve seen flies tied representing both.
Hey thanks Rachael, you taught me something new today!!! :)
What line are you using? Do you think foward sinking line would work for this?
Floating line to trout leader essentially. I have not used a sinking line but yes I think there is a presentation you could have success with using a sinking leader or line depending on what the fish are doing. I know shortly after stocking Ryan used a sinking line and caught a large number of fish on the chase!
@@RosinFlyFishing Thanks for the tips
hi i am just wondering what would be a good fly rod for this fishery
Are you interested in fly fishing for trout? I use a 5 weight fly rod and reel and a floating weight forward fly line and it helps with casting indicator setups and is also okay for most other trout fishing in rivers :) hit me up on Instagram if you have more questions!
@@RosinFlyFishing Thank you!
Good video but you need to concentrate
Haha this is great advice, I am easily distractable
FYI you are not allowed to enter the water at Rice lake because specially at this time of year there are all sorts of amphibian eggs in the dirt right by the shore.... please respect the rules that keep our lakes and fisheries healthy and accessible for many years to come.
Do you have a link for this information? This is the first I've heard of this. I'm well aware of the no swimming and no boating rules per the LSCR website: www.metrovancouver.org/services/parks/parks-greenways-reserves/lower-seymour-conservation-reserve
@RosinFlyFishing I don't have a specific link to provide. However, I have volunteered with two conservation groups that study the biodiversity and conservation efforts on the Northshore and being an avid fisherman who frequents Rice lake I asked a few questions about the restrictions on the lake and got the above answer. I believe wading was not mentioned on the website as an oversight.
If what you are saying is true and this is the reason swimming and boating is restricted, then there does need to be stronger and more clear messaging and access to information for the general public. I've seen plenty of people wet wading in this water while fishing around the lake. The boating and swimming regulations could easily be interpreted as in place due to the small size of the lake, keeping it picturesque, and fishing focused. This is not trivial. If you happen to know anyone in LSCR this would be good to pass on. It does also make me think about other lakes and rivers where fishing and boating and swimming are happening... is Rice Lake a special circumstance regarding conservation efforts compared to other North Shore waters? If so, this should be shared too! Thanks for the info btw :)
