Here are a couple gems I think will blow your mind also with Floor in them on projects she did with Arjen (Ar Yen) Anthony Lucassen better known by his projects name Ayreon. The 1st is a soft song done with a whistle flute and acoustic guitar it has a woman who greatly inspired Floor Anneke Van Giersbergen,Floor Jansen, and Marcela Bovio

As a singer and voice teacher, you would probably enjoy watching Floor's performances on the Dutch show "Beste Zangers". It is a really interesting format where several singers from different genres get together and over a few week they take turns performing for the others. It's not a competition but rather a celebration since they perform songs that the other singers have sung or that have special meaning to them. It's interesting to watch them perform in styles that might be outside their comfort zone. Floor nails every one of her songs and (obviously) impresses all the others. The shows are well worth watching - not just for Floor, but some of the other performances are also outstanding. i believe Gabriel has some links to those performances in his original post.

I believe that word "concerto" is italian and it is pronounced as Floor does it in this song.
Nightwish bassist (also a classically trained guitarist) Marko Hietala (pron: HEE-ah-Tallah) exclusively plays Warwick guitars. The custom double neck is top bass, bottom acoustic with a special sound.
Just for anyone wanting to learn something not voice-related today... Walden is a pond in Massachusetts, made famous when Poet Henry David Thoreau stayed nearby in a cabin and wrote about it.
This song tells you to find your own personal Walden, which would be either a physical space or state of mind that makes you feel peaceful, and at one with nature.

I appreciate your thoughtful analysis of Nightwish songs. Floor is a world treasure, but Tuomas is, in my opinion, the greatest composer of my lifetime.

May I suggest a Celtic-folk themed live ballad from Tampere, Finland called, "The Islander" featuring Marko (he of the awesome double-necked bass-guitar). Marko has such a beautiful voice and oceans of charm. I think you (and your student) would love it.

This song really highlights one of Floor's big strengths as a vocalist that's rarely commented on, which is her ability to phrase her singing so that the emphasized words (or parts of words) land very precisely on the tempo of the song. I think its a big factor in why Floor is so effective in communicating the intention of the music she sings, because the way she fits her vocals into the music make it sound like *part* of the composition rather than being performed *over* the composition.
To really see the breadth of Floor's voice, I would suggest her recent live performance of Face Your Demons on her UA-cam channel, masterclass in performing as a singer.
The language sung by Troy at the beginning of the song is Welsh.
Troy plays the Uilleann pipes and the Low Whistle. Both are Irish instruments. It was a Nightwish concert at the sold out Wembley Arena.
Marko's instrument is called "The Beast". The top neck is a 4 string bass guitar, and the bottom one is a 6 string electric guitar.
Walden is a book by Henry David Thoreau, chronically the two years he lived by Walden Pond, seeking solitude and a oneness with nature by living simply and creating an environment that suited him and no one else. He interacted with others, selling beans he had grown, but did not integrate with their institutions. The line in the song “ I do not wish to evade the world, yet I will forever build my own,” captures that nicely, I think.

But the word "Walden" is a very ancient English (or maybe Celtic or Anglian) word, often now corrupted to Walton, Wooton or Warden, meaning a defensible, pastoral settlement. It can be found in many place names in England, mostly as Walton, but Wooton Basset may be a derivation, and in the original form, there is Saffron Walden.
Only slowed down (or chipmunk) versions are from Wacken 2013, because that Bluray was messed up in the process. So basically every FullHD or 4k versions are "bad", except the one I've corrected. And while it's only 4%, it certainly have an impact, and it feels wrong to someone, who has listened those songs hundreds of times. Floor has turned us ALL into voice geeks now! My favorite reactions are ones I can learn from, I didn’t realize I would be so into it. I would LOVE to hear you react to Romanticide, since it pretty close to a duet between Floor & Marko, & would like to hear your analysis on him too. They can get to the same pitch, & cross over, & sometimes you have to really listen as to who is on top, plus Floor has a slide, I am sure you will be quite surprised at! If at some point you want to teach a Soprano how to growl, take a listen “To Yours is an Empty Hope”, LOL, the woman can do it all! My favorite is ‘Song of Myself”, but any Nightwish song seems like your favorite as you listen.
While I am at it it, Floor was newly released single, “Fire”, her first ever, you will probably want to react to. She wrote it, as well, as a beautiful production. Looking forward to the next....

I'd like to suggest another of my favorite artist - her name is Aurora and she is a young singer/songwriter from Norway who is extremely talented. She totally unique both in her voice and stage presence. I'd suggest you listen to her live performance of her original song "Runaway" at the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Concert.

If you are wondering why you can't catch the words at the beginning...They are in Welsh.
Marco's guitar is a double neck and quite common especially in rock/metal music. Normally they will be a bass guitar and electric guitar in one, a neck for each. They are so a guitarist can switch between the two easily, sometimes in the same song. There was a country singer who invented what he called a Guit-steel which was a electric guitar and steel guitar in one. His name was Junior Brown and if I can I will link a song just to show you what I mean:

Ignore the speed comments. It's 4%, and a lot of people exaggerate the difference IMO.
I've always felt the "concerrrrto" thingbis to emphasise her change into full operatic tone (by which I don't mean high register which so many seem to equate with opera, but rather, the fuller rounder tone).
The double neck is called The Beast and is custom madevfor Marko, Framus guitar on the bottom and Warwick Bass on top. Framus and Warwick are the same group of companies and Marko is exclusively Warwick.
Marko plays this in The Islander from Tampere and you should watch that - Marko singing and a folk style with The Beast.

Like others have said please do more Nightwish :-D Their catalogue is tremendous, but some of my favorites are Elan and Alpenglow (though they are both quite basic "poppy" metal songs, along the lines of Storytime but obviously different), and also Gethsemane, Shoemaker, and Sahara, which are bit more advanced in their composition. Please do some research on the lyrics before listening to Shoemaker (which is something you typically shouldn't do for reactions.)
