My x mother in law did Brussels mixed with bacon bits and breadcrumbs, delicious.. She fried the bacon bits, cooked the Brussels then popped them in to a shallow pan with a knob of butter, then added the breadcrumbs, absolutely lovely 🎅

Just when you think you have seen everything, you get thin, watery bacon wrapped around soggy sprouts and charged £20 a kilo. You are right, you could not make it up! I love the facial expressions at the beginning of the video, I knew this was going to be funny - what, you mean they are serious?! 🤣Thanks for cheering up a dull, grey Friday, just what I needed. 😊

@RedHeadNINTY9T9 Absolutely agree. The precooking ruins bacon. I make my own pigs in blankets too, but I had never thught of "sprouts in blankets" until today. I may have a go at making some, but no precooked bacon.

Sprout and bacon soup is delicious. Fry your sprouts cut in half in a little oil until well browned, then add your bacon lardons and a finely chopped onion and fry until well done. And then add some chicken or Turkey Lurkey stock cook for a further 20 minutes then blend and add a little bit of single cream and serve and garnish with some deep fried crispy sprout peelings delicious.

A useful review explaining why it doesn't work. Just this morning I was looking at the Iceland site wondering if I should order anything or not (I didn't) and I noticed these were on offer. Something like this anyone could make and cook themselves in less time and with far more success....plus it would be a lot, lot cheaper.

I think this nicely demonstrates why I so seldom shop in iceland. To be fair to them, boring things like pizzas and frozen mini-roasts are usually fairly ok, but then there isn't much to muck up with those... Sadly other stuff seems to alternate between being silly high prices, very underwhelming, or simply vile, so really these days Iceland shopping has become a rather hit and miss affair. Anyway, that aside, the comedy value of the slightly mishap prone videos of this week has been priceless so thanks for another enjoyable watch Gareth.

A very important tip. When I was cooking bacon on the Frying pan a lot of white gunk appeared. I think its coming out of the fat, Well i scraped it off with a spoon and left it on the side of the pan in a pile where it got Brown and crisp, Well one day i was scraping the little bit of burnt gunk off the pan with a spoon and decided to taste it. OMG it was like putting 10 crispy salty rashers into my mouth, i know it has to be bad for you but the flavour gives me a high , it has to be brown and crispy and you will only get a tiny bit but the taste of bacon is magic .

Well despite the possible panic buy to get these in for Christmas I may give them a miss. I am in a bit of a confusion as I am not a fan of sprouts but like bacon. They could do cauliflower wrapped in bacon. Or peas wrapped in bacon. Or bacon wrapped in a sandwich. Sometimes I feel these food companies have too much time on their hands to invent any Christmas themed food. Christmas cake wrapped in bacon? Despite the obvious discomfort I loved the video and laughed at the great facial expressions. Thanks for your sacrifice.

When I was a teenager my friend & I made curry flavoured fairy cakes & tried them out on her brother. He claimed they were surprisingly good!

Yes, I always wait for them to be either on offer or reduced--they always are at some time or another.

I just wonder if a normal oven job would do them any better. A dryer heat although your oven should be dry enough.

Any form of cooked Brussels sprouts KILL my stomach with cramps, pains the lot....plus I hate the taste cooked. However, by accident a few years ago I discovered they are SO much nicer raw in a kind of salad plus no stomach issues whatsoever eating them raw. I shred them quite finely in a food processor with 1-2 🥕, sometimes I'll add in finely chopped spring onions. I them top them with pomegranate seeds and serve with a vinaigrette dressing or tescos balsamic glaze is lovely or even flavour the vinaigrette with orange 🍊 juice. It gives lovely christmassy flavours and has oriced a big hit with my family who can't or won't eat cooked bessels sprouts. Leaving them raw also maintains the nutrients (look at the colour of the cooking water u discard when boiling them) and also u dont get that awful 'rotten egg' stench from cooking them. We always used to say in our house Xmas day " right who's the filthy bugger who's been farting away!!?". 😂😂 .

Preparing the Brussels sprouts is a bit of a chore - but yes - you could make these for far cheaper, and probably to a much higher quality yourself.

Little balls of bitter disapointment. My Mom used to boil them to make them tender, if they weren't, toss them back in the pot. They were always bitter and never tender. Thanks for the review, I had a good laugh.

Well my two favourite things on the Christmas Dinner plate are sprouts and pigs in blankets! So was excited when I seen this video. But seems a bit of an anti-climax! 😂

Don't mind sprouts with bacon but I blitz the sprouts in the food processor and fry them in butter in a pan with chopped bacon and garlic.

You can’t beat fresh sprouts off the stalk, sweet, tender and not bitter. That meal looks appalling I think it would benefit from a longer cook time.👍
