For some reason this video decided to randomly bit crush the visuals when it rendered, I could delete it and upload a better version, but that would require more effort than went into the Origin Server Announcement.
I havent really felt like I was going on an adventure since eq2 20 years ago, so getting to do it again was amazing. But I cant argue against this video, they did drop the ball.
I've not long started on this server and I'm having a blast with the slower pacing. I'm praying the issues you mentioned will eventually be fixed (it'll be a long time before I get there anyway). Thanks for the eq2 content.
Ya, the flopped announcement (no announcement) self sabotage, ruined it for me. I went on vacation and then "wha huh? its released?!?!". sorta spoiled any hype that was building
Really great vid and points, Mr. C. The way this all played out led me to just not bother. If Daybreak/Darkpaw actually understood what people wanted (and would pay for), they would have taken this more seriously. Minimal effort, then juice folks at the cash shop. Typical.
Ahhh nooo don’t quit on us. I’ve been feeling the same way about the raid loot. Seems like we have been at it from months and all I’ve received is boots, a legendary bp and my prismatic. We had much better luck this last raid. Spirits of the lost gave us lots, and a contested mob with crazy good loot. I think it’s just because we have been so focused on the prismatic raids that don’t have the greatest drops. That being said, it does feel like the loot needs to be tweaked. Sorry to see ya go, Kumpa
I still think the best period for EQ2 was EoF, RoK, TSO, SF and Velious, the raids got better and better. and the gear was always something someone wanted. The game was freaking broken for years until those expansions hit.
Lock an eq2 server in the RoK - Sentinels Fate expansions...best time ever for the game. think that was 2006-2009-ish... But this is why i am still stuck on the classic P99 servers. still, after 10years, there is so much to do here. EQ2 just isnt that kind of game anymore.
No clue this was a thing, I would have played lol. Maybe next time? Instead I'm playing lotro on their version of origin servers (legendary servers) and having a blast.
I don't mind the bundle. It's not game breaking. I'm no raider, so I don't know about that side, but I rather enjoy the slow march to cap, however, I'll easily be cap by DoF in February. It will give me some time to try out Teek and take short breaks. My issue right now is Krono may not be on the server, but it's regularly traded on other servers, for Origins plat, and the economy is feeling it. As this becomes the norm, they might as well officially add it because it's not going to work.
Maybe, but it would have to be after some time and in retrospective in order to get my thoughts straight. There are things in general I like about EQ2, like collectables, heritage quests and the mentor system to name a few.
I can comfortably say that I am the youngest player playing this game, at the age of 18. I was excited for this server, but it never stuck. I was really excited to experience the game as close to what it was, but they failed to keep me in. I think they messed up by ruining the original EQ2 the new expansion format introduced in BoL, so the original EQ2 is not interesting anymore
Sure, your points are not necessarily wrong, but you're an adult and should be able to see that a studio owned by a profit-sucking private equity firm is under a heavy yoke to get players to spend. It's awesome their team is doing what they can for players given the budget and resources they have.
Guess you missed the part where I said "I didn't hate the devs and that they were limited to man power and the overarching company." But your an adult and should realize that they keep putting stuff like that in because people keep buying it. But hey if you want to keep giving money to the profit-sucking private equity it's your money.
You see that crowd and I'm now a middle aged man, but I also know without the kids you're going nowhere. So it's sad to see no young blood into the IP :/ Ironically though I think releasing a WoW clone as EQ3 in the late 2010s would have been a BIG hit! Rather than chasing the weird Minecraft thing they did to cancel it. People are begging for something as good as WoW now....

Great video MrC. You are not wrong unlike everyone that bought the $35 bundle.
Even though we all saw this coming, it's still sad.

Have seen WoW private servers with better release communication.

The grind to 50 could be fun - especially with a dedicated group doing it together, but yeah... end game seems like a dead end.

i left at like lvl 29 cause i couldn't get over the SLOW leveling cause i wasn't at a peak time
They should also have gotten rid of the guild housing, cause it just supports people sitting in their own instances and not in the world.

It's still going strong, I just started and I've been grouping with plenty of other low level people.
My problem is it isn't "origins" as it's the 2006 version of the game, the version where they decided to turn it into WoW.
Draq Says. I love this video ....

you know how you force an UE 5 game upgrade? or better yet an EQ3, everyone push to get perma banned. thats how:)
Do you plan to make a video about what you have enjoyed about the Origins server?
