“Get These People Off The Streets?” | Rishi Sunak Wants ‘Mob Rule’ To End

- Опубліковано 3 жов 2024
- Rishi Sunak has warned that the UK is descending into “mob rule” as he told police they must use the powers they have or risk losing public confidence amid fears about MPs being targeted by demonstrators heightened by the Israel-Hamas conflict.
The Prime Minister discussed a new “democratic policing protocol” with police chiefs, which would see more patrols and “provides clarity that protests at elected representatives’ homes should be treated as intimidatory”.
He was speaking to police leaders about the issues around MPs’ safety at a roundtable meeting in Downing Street on Wednesday afternoon alongside Home Secretary James Cleverly.
Mr Sunak said: “There is a growing consensus that mob rule is replacing democratic rule.
Former Number 10 director of communication Jonathan Haslam joins TalkToday to discuss this further.

When thugs dominate the streets, in the form of pro-Palestine or JSO, politicians told us they can't interfere with police decisions. When those same thugs threaten MPs, they suddenly find out they can interfere.
Despicable.
Why are journalists not reporting what IS GOING ON. like ? *ICJ case brought by South Africa. And the 50 nations calling fir a ceasefire PLUS?*
@@GuapaahiLots of reporting on that occurs.
You are being dis-honest.
Just Stop Oil protesters are put in jail for standing in the road for 30 seconds, and even people standing on the sidewalk with signs supporting them are persecuted. Politicians have cracked down on JSO heavily since 2023. I know that JSO and pro-Palestine and all the other demonstrations might seem annoying. But at the end of the day they are peaceful. They are not "thugs." The real thugs are the politicians who neglect human life and when someone calls them out on it they do what they can do shut them up. That's the real danger.
@@Guapaahithat was the only thing on the news, you loon, and it's all bullshit lies.

"The problem is, we've got too many people on the fringe"
If there's _that_ many people "on the fringe", then _that_ isn't the fringe. That's the norm.
The problem is' the fringe is small compared to the rest of us' which is what makes them fringe and your theory is nonsense
@paulsmyth3580 No, you didn't understand. Listen again to what he said. The fringe _is_ supposed to be small. But what he said is that "there are too many people on the fringe". Therefore those people are _not_ on the actual fringe. The small, real fringe is even worse.
I think it's got to the stage now where these people don't even believe their own bull sh t
do not ban protests.........ban islamic protests
Should never have been allowed to start.

Enforce the law, Public Order Acts 1936 and 1986, and be happy.
Any person who in any public place or at any public meeting uses threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to provoke a breach of the peace or whereby a breach of the peace is likely to be occasioned, shall be guilty of an offence.
Public Order Act 1936.
In England and Wales, it is an also offence to cause harassment, alarm or distress under the Public Order Act 1986. This carries a £1,000 fine or a penalty notice of £80. If the offence is committed with intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress, the offender can be given 6 months' imprisonment or a fine.
I have spoken!
And the 2001 Terrorism Act. If Blair can use this to have a Labour Party member arrested for heckling at a conference, then anyone is fair game under this act .
👏 👍
Is there any law about supporting counties carrying out Genocide?,
@@GuapaahiI do not support the genocide being carried out by Surrey.
@@Guapaahi I guess you meant countries . The laws governing crimes such as these were written up by the embryonic League of Nations ( later the United Nations) in particular Britain as a founder member in order that the atrocities committed by the Ottomans against the Arabs ( see Arab Revolt ) and Jews ( the Jewish Legion ) who fought alongside the British and Commonwealth forces in the region to end the genocides against the Armenians , Assyrians and ethnic Greeks in WW1; would never happen again . As the only evidence available of an attempted genocide is against Hamas the government of Gaza on 10/7 and no country is directly assisting Hamas as the sole actor , then there is no country that is deemed to be breaking any international law in supporting that terrorist state .
They will eventually have parliament in a position where it is not representing the natives . We cannot continue without law and order, and the army will have to be drafted in soon

I think they should be tarring everyone with the same brush if they are going to tar at all. You give Dankula a criminal record for teaching a pug to salute, but projecting a clear antisemetic phrase or chant it in the street, or outside a Jewish MP’s home is fine?! Protesting can only work /help if you’re protesting something that directly impacts you and can be charged? Neither do this criteria is met so the protest is a complete waste of time

Er ..no its called exercising our democratic right to protest ! A long tradition for centuries ...ever heard of the Suffragettes etc etc
Suffragettes did not have the right to break the law. They went to prison.
The current trend for 'protestors' to break the law with impunity is very recent and has happened without any public discussion or support.
Clearly you don't know that many were arrested when they crossed the line of peaceful protest!! Get your facts straight as you clearly haven't a clue! Interfering and threatening the rights of others is not a peaceful protest! Any idiot can see the difference, but not you apparently!
@@timg1246 what law have they actually broken that they haven’t faced consequences for exactly ?
@@timg1246 I don’t actually see this current “ trend” as far as I can see . Btw those folk that “ stormed “ the Scottish Labour office were all peaceful protestors mostly in their 60 s .
@scottishbanjo My comment was aimed at the idea that Sufragettes did not face legal consequences. They did.
Current protestors have broken many laws. Including assaulting people in front of police officers who did not even attempt to arrest them. JSO protestors disrupt traffic. That would have been arrestable just a few years ago. To be un-aware of this requires a wilfully looking away from the facts.
These laws have been relaxed without any democratic debate.
Now its affecting MPs Rishi says its now a problem..what would have happened if an Israel flag was beamed on big ben...
So is stopping people talking without the mob shouting whenmyou go to your council meetings.
The democratic process has traditionally provided a platform for individuals to stand up for their rights. Unity has been a source of strength, while division weakens movements. However, the current political landscape shows a disconnect between politicians and the public, with widespread frustration over their hypocrisy. As a result, people are increasingly taking to the streets to make their voices heard, feeling they have no other recourse. This shift reflects a growing disillusionment with traditional channels of political engagement and a desire for more direct action to address grievances.
They are arguing about a chant, while everyone between river to the sea is being massacred by Apartheid Israel, Netanyahu shows maps without Palestine, but that's ok. Hypocrisy of Hypocrisy. 🤫🤫🤫🤫
