BIG 180” GENERAL SEASON BUCK! UTAH GS MUZZLE LOADER HUNT - BRUTUS 2022

- We have a couple firsts right off the bat in this video. Cole takes his first buck on opening morning with a perfectly placed shot at 100 ish yards. The buck died almost immediately. Cole is my third son Lucas’ best friend and has been hunting with us for a couple years now. Next up and a couple hours later was my youngest son Noah (LeBron). His oldest brother Isaac was kind enough to help him get his first buck and settle in for the shot. Noah made a great shot and the buck only went 20 yards before expiring.
Then we found him… Brutus. Isaac decided this was to be his deer. We worked hard and had a handful of opportunities at him and were finally able to get close enough for Isaac to make the shot. On the second to last day of the hunt, he made it happen.
Isaac shot his deer with the CVA Acurra, which was loaded with 150 gr of triple 7 powder, using the 250 gr Hornady SST. The buck was slightly quartering to us at the time of the shot. The bullet entered in front of the buck’s shoulder - in the neck and exited on the opposite side through the shoulder. On its way through the deer, the bullet smashed the spine, right lung and destroyed the right shoulder. The buck died before he hit the ground. A truly amazing shot.
This was a General Season muzzle loader hunt in Utah. Isaac was super curious to know exactly how big the buck was, so we got home late that night and put a tape on him. He ended up at 180 6/8”. He truly is a buck of a lifetime.

Thanks so much Big Kraig! This one was special for sure. Not only because of the size of the buck, but also because of how focused, determined and dedicated Isaac was on achieving this goal of killing that buck. Undoubtedly, he learned that with hard work, you can accomplish just about anything. Which is a very important lesson for him to learn right now as he prepares to leave on a mission.

I agree with your approach and 99% of the time, I don’t even reply to the stupid nonsense. But sometimes - these dummies strike a cord with me and I have to respond. I know that guy (specifically on this video) is a clown and has no idea what he’s talking about. The reason I went after him a bit was because he was talking about my son. I don’t tolerate that crap. What (in your opinion) qualifies a buck to be called, referred to as or knick named Brutus? Based on your other comments I have seen on this and my last video you have absolutely no understanding of what is actually taking place in Utah (Tag numbers, point system and non resident tags).
I’m very curious to know why you think it’s wrong or not appropriate for my kids to - when having seen the biggest buck of their lives, and in their excitement, call this buck Brutus?! Since you have it all figured out… what should they have called him instead? Why do people like you say such stupid things? I’ll never understand why you and people like you try to belittle, embarrass or humiliate others. This was absolutely a trophy buck. Likely the biggest buck my son will ever kill. Why would he not celebrate that? And who are you to tell him or me that it’s not big enough or doesn’t count as a real trophy? What a selfish thing to do.
My advice to you is to try harder to not be a complete condescending ass hat. Stop trying to make yourself look like you know what you’re talking about because it’s very clear to me and everyone else that you do not.

Utah has fantastic mule deer on the correct units. And for this unit being an open draw general season unit that has a lot of tags given each year and a lot of hunting pressure a 180" deer is a Brutus
