I've never messed with honda EFI but I know for most basic auto manufacturer EFIs that the coolant temp sensor directly affects the idle air control valve so maybe it's the engine dropping down in temp dramatically thats causing the temp sensor to tell the ecm it needs a rush of more fuel and may be the reason it stalls out. Possibly find the resistance of the ECT when up to temp and just not run the ECT for a test in the water with a set resistance.
There is an idle adjustment. If you take the plastic cover off the right side of the throttle body where the cable goes in, there is an idle set screw just like the older carbureted Honda’s. There’s a lock nut on the idle set screw and you use a small Allen to adjust it. I turned mine up a little and I’m curious if it’ll help idle underwater
I need help I was mudding water knee high I got stuck then my 2022 Honda foreman 520 turned off. There was no water in oil no water in gas tank no major water in air filter. Spark plug is good what can it be
Had an issue with my 2020 had it rebuilt and now I don’t have the problem I used to when it would touch water and die did fine on the ride I took it when I got it back only died once
I think it’s bc there is to much back pressure in the stock exhaust so when you take it deep, it causes more pressure. I’ve heard people fixing this issue by pulling out the clean out plug in the exhaust. I’m gonna try it
Wut is the biggest Aztex I can fit on a strat axle Forman 520 I have a 2 inch lift and a chip but I drive in thick clay mud I don’t know wut size I need
They make the machine very hard to control in a lot of different situations. They increase clutch wear. And they add a little bit of stress to the rest of the drivetrain
O2 Sensors are only resistors ,, all that is done is they matched up the plug soldiered in the correct tolerance resisters melted plastic over it all and called it a o2 delete
What if the whole problem is simply a back pressure issue? Vs a sensor problem??? How do you change the exhaust so less water pressure is going against the exhaust... smaller pipes allow some kawasaki engines to run under water and duals kill it. Just my 2 cents. Great video.
And the more I think about my Honda Rubicon 500 has run -15 with no problems... even is some water slowing walking up the exhaust could steam the combustion causing problems??
We solved ( kinda ) this issue lol check out our brand new build spoiler alert we run air and exhaust snorkels but we go deep and we are on tracks so we can’t float

Good to know. Thanks mud puppy. Make these companies step up their game and make products that actually do something.

Just need to wait for the next gen 2 cyl machines ;)
Just idle it up on the throttle cable a little bit
bro it took me a year to think of this and i just came to comment it i feel so dumb rn
Good video sir
Wassup mud puppy big fan
what rims are on the 300
Maybe the cylinder shrinks and the piston is too hot and big. If you easy into water the piston cools also and has room to move.
Ever try snorkeling the exhaust? Isn’t the psi from the water pushing against the exhaust messing with the back pressure? Just a thought
then you can’t water wheelie

Tilt sensor activating?
I have a 1998 Honda 300 fourtrax 4x4. Would I be able to mount a 2” bracket lift and still use some 420 shocks?
No. And 2" lifts are trash
What kind of lift would you recommend and where can I get one if I ever decide to go bigger?
Would a weak fuel pump cause under water idling issues?
How do you know it’s the pump
No don’t see why it would.
Had an issue with my 2020 had it rebuilt and now I don’t have the problem I used to when it would touch water and die did fine on the ride I took it when I got it back only died once
🤘
Could you get a fuel controller with fuel maps for mixtures that would help it idle under water?
I've tried that did not have good success on the newer models
@@MudPuppyOffroad gotcha
In that case I won’t put one on my 520. Thanks

did pulling the plug on exhaust help?
all my buddies and I got copper 90 and all got 02 deletes from Ashton and it does help out a lot. all of our bikes will idle now
He has provided proof in his videos that those "mods" dont do anything
Wut is the biggest Aztex I can fit on a strat axle Forman 520 I have a 2 inch lift and a chip but I drive in thick clay mud I don’t know wut size I need
I wouldnt go any bigger than a 28 of your not going to do a gear reduction but if so 29.5 or bigger
When did fourwheelers change to the point that you can’t just screw in a screw on the carb
When they stopped having carburetors...
I want this bike if you ever sell it!!!!
how do you like the motohavoks?
Decent on sxs
Why dont you just turn up the idle on the cable line on the bar?
I have a 98 foreman and it has no problem underwater so idk if it cuz it’s an older bike or what
This bike is not carburated like the older ones. This is fuel injected
what i do is i turn the throttle cable tension up and that turns it up
Why don’t you like stall kits for Honda’s???
They make the machine very hard to control in a lot of different situations. They increase clutch wear. And they add a little bit of stress to the rest of the drivetrain
You got some motohavoks Thoes are nice

And... I wonder if a venturi inserted in the exhaust which would speed up the gases and fix this?

Would it work to turn the idle up
There is no idle adjustment
@@MudPuppyOffroad yes there is its on the handle bars
Where is the talon
Aye mud puppy there is a idle screw on your handle bars
Bypassing the idle air control is not the right method
That is cable free play adjustment
Just idle it up at the throttle the snallest bit thats what helped mine
Not the way to do it it changes when you steer and when the cable wears
Usually makes it hard to shift
@@MudPuppyOffroad yeah true
@@MudPuppyOffroad and do you think a honda rubicon would turn 33 aztecs with 35% reduction
Did you ever sell the can-am ?
The 570
sorry not him but yea it was long gone
That’s y I hate electronics y can’t it just have a carb on it just turn the idle up with a screw driver and ur set 😂
So is it me or did you just prove that O2 deletes are shit and we're back to square one on idling underwater?
Without saying it that's exactly what he done
6 let’s gooooooo
Why not just buy a boat?😊
Man what an original comment you're the first person to ever post that on this page! Thanks for the brilliant idea
