I’m ashamed to say that I’ve only recently found Jerry Hadley. For most of my life I’ve loved music but I’ve definitely missed out on his beautiful voice.
What an absolute talent and to read how his life ended so sadly is truly heartbreaking. RIP.

It’s better later than never. So many young music lovers who haven’t discovered him yet. He could have grown to become the great Richard Tucker.

Frederica von Stade, a lovely and wonderfully talented Lady indeed whom I regret I have only recently discovered, and the late Hugh Downs in this first interview of the Lady: Frederica is still among us, Hugh passed at 99 just a week or so ago. Legends in their times, and now to continue as such here on You Tube!

Hearing Pavarotti make me fall in love with music again, hearing Hadley make me fall in love with performing.

    Frederica von Stade,
Always have loved her voice. Such pretty blue eyes, usually beautifully dressed and, most importantly, have been impressed with what a darling person she seems to be!

I remember this concert on TV. Spectacular. Von Stade is always charming, Ramey is a force of nature, and Hadley was so boyishly enthusiastic. It's a terrible tragedy that Hadley killed himself, he had so much to live for.

I have learned only recently about his suicide. Wonder why...such a sad loss.

They were all so young and happy here. Who would have thought at this time that Jerry Hadley would eventually kill himself.

I miss these dispositions from opera singers. Those live at the met interviews in between acts don't hold the same character.

‘Showboat’ will likely not be performed again for a long time, due to America’s current political climate in the 2020’s.

You are so right. That historic 1988 recording used the original 1927 libretto and today's history-denying wokesters would be soiling themselves.
