Great video thanks. Would be great if Motion Array did a "skinny subscription model" at a lower cost, offering limited downloads per month. If you are a Pro user then the $30/month is not a problem. I have so many other subscriptions running it becomes an onerous cost per month, think a lot more people would use this very useful service.

Hi Jason, thanks for this. It’s still infuriating why .dra’s are used and not DRFX files which are a billion times easier, and for some, just a simple .setting file is sufficient. The problem with this method is there’s no realistic way for it to work if you already have an existing, relatively complex project. You have to restore project archive and import footage into the .dra. A lot of the time when this happens, it messes up timing and the clips overall. What I want with these templates is to just drag and drop, just like most other motion graphics.
Hey Kris! I agree, its tough to add them directly into a project. It's almost easier to edit it on it's own, then export the intro and just bring that into your project. That's what I've been doing. I would be nice if you could easily bring it into another project.
1000% agree... Super inconvenient and almost unusable for Pro video editors. Great templates for premiere & AE , but for resolve it's just a mess. Definitely not using it.
@@JasonYadlovski This is what I was going to ask. If project files are already cut into clips on a timeline, is there a way to work with the template on a new timeline in that project, added after the fact, or just simpler to think of template projects as a separate thing. I always pick up so many "little tips" watching your videos - not necessarily the stuff you're focused on but several "ah-ha" helpful quality of life things. If you have a video that goes more in-depth on modifying the music track to fit your needs I'd love to get that link; you glossed right over "cutting and tweaking" your long to fit here and I caught a glimpse of the finished audio timeline, but exactly what you did and your thought process would be awesome to see.

Any idea on how to get the Motion Array templates, especially the Text+ inside of them, working with Resolve 18? Also having problems with Text+ from my previous projects now in DR 18 and haven't find a solution yet. delete cache meybe you dont have font... better if you instal font then restart computer and than you can open project when once you open you have to play all the timelines it helps sometimes. you can try to change fonts and sometimes it helps too if you have imported project than just go upen every timeline play them separately and than go baack to final timeline and it will appear dR18 is buGGy and you what you can do just turn on turn off things play them and it will work :D think that the version is buggy and you are not doing anything wrong and dont waste time to searching some settings to slove problem just like old tv you hit on it and it stops glitching..

Great video, I am able to change the text on the titles but it's not showing the changes on the timeline, the old text is still showing. Any help would be appreciated.
This really helps explain the basics! Is there a way to use these kinds of templates as a slide show within another project? I am working on a corporate project that contains interview clips, product video clips, etc but I need to include some slides here and there and I need to be able to control the duration of the slides. So far Im struggling to find anything from MA that is helpful. Any ideas?
Glad this was helpful! So I'd use things like this and many of the other templates as an intro/outtro or some kind of 'cool' factor in the project. For your normal interview clips, etc. I would just add them and edit them like normal. I'm not sure they would work well in any of the templates like this one. The slide show templates might be able to work for some of your project too. I think it just depends on what you want the final video to look like.. 😁
Hi, thanks for this video! You did explain things clearly, also the tips like preview resolution and 2nd timeline add valuable information! Special thanks for taking the time and adding timestamps, this is a HUGE help for reviewing steps in a tutorial/guide video! I do have a strange problem and just can't get behind it... Does not matter which template I try, also it does not matter if i insert footage or not. When I start the preview of the full Clip(Final Render in your video), the window just stays black.(also if I export the clip) Any hint on what is possibly going wrong? - I'm trying to learn some video recording and editing. I have successfully edited some of my own footage, everything worked fine there. The problem only arises if I use templates (maybe fusion related?) I did clear the render cache ans also tried all 3 settings of it. To note: If I open up one of the placeholders, preview works fine and video gets played. If I open the "Final Render"/"Montage"/"Render" timeline it is just pitch black. I already have tried uninstalling/reinstalling/using V17 instead of V18. Computer Specs should not be a problem either, I'm running a pretty beefy setup. I am using the free Version of Davinci Resolve for now. Any hint would be veeeery much appriciated!
Sounds like you're doing all the right things, I found clearing the render cache after I had dropped in clips seemed to work. Sometimes I did close resolve and reopen it after clearing the cache. It could be that its the free version too, maybe there's a difference, but I wouldn't think so. Keep in mind, the free version of Resolve will not use the GPU - that's a limitation of the free version. The Studio versions makes full use of the GPU. Maybe try reaching out to Motion Array too and see if they can offer any help.
Q.: I love the templates but the issue for me is how to modify them to fit the beat of your own sound track added? Basically modifying the duration of each effects and everything making up the template so it suits your needs? Hope my question makes sens
@@JasonYadlovski I tried shorten or stretching it to match my sound track. But the result is that it fudges up the effects & whipes & media is not showing up. I do not know how to modify it so it doesn't glitch out. Kinda sad cuz i would love to use pre-made templates. but i need to be able to modify it so to fit my chosen song & the length of the clip i want. (6 sec, 30-45- a min...) & not just be stuck with what they made. If you found out. plz give us a tutorial. thq for the reply

Hey Jason, I started trying templates in 17 and then recently moved to 18, but in either version, I still seem to get the same result where the pictures don't show up in the timeline or the export render. I followed the instructions (template files and your video), but to no avail. Where the pictures need to be, its all blank. I have tried different templates but I get no result. And I can't figure it out. :( I love your videos by the way. :)
Hey man, thanks for checking out my videos! The first thing I would try is to clear the render cache. I found I always had to do that for my video clips or images to show up. If that doesn’t work, then I would restart resolve or just change projects and come back and then usually things with show up. Give that a try and see if it works.
I'm a new user of Motion Array. While I'm able to download the assets and I've had some success with music tracks, that's about it since some assets won't drop in the media pool. I'm hoping Jason will make individual tutorials using DR 18 for dropping in Music/Sound Effects/Templates/Intros/Transitions, etc. I like the assets and fine with the price, but time is valuable and I'm looking for easy and reliable. I suspect I'll be moving on to other options soon. Is it just me or have other new users experienced frustration?

However i have encountered a problem using the Motion Array templates in DaVinici, when in import the template there is no text only black screen. I am unable to add or edit any text and i don't know how to fix this problem. Really would appreciate your help
You may have to select a new font style in the inspector when you are editing the text. then it should appear. Also delete the render cache, that should help.
I had the same problem. If you change the text the graphic will begin to show. I guess that means you dont have the original text installed for the graphic?
Great tutorial! Really helped me get started with Motion Array templates. I was wondering though is it possible to save the templates (transitions, effects, etc.) within DaVinci Resolve for future use, just like the built in transitions?
For the text, what if I wanted to add a drop shadow to them? I'm trying to add a drop shadow to my text in the "Edit Text" timeline, but it isn't showing up in the final render in my main timeline. Any idea why? Videos are INSANELY helpful! Keep up the great work!💖
New to how MA works as of 2 hours ago, this strikes me as being very cookie cutter and extremely complicated. I'm not a fan of how the MA system works.
I hear ya, it's a little tricky until you understand how the templates are set up. I mostly use the overlays, motion graphics and audio assets. They all work great and are easy to use.

I think I’d be great if you maybe did a run through on how to use and insert some of these items into an existing project. ie - how to handle a YT subscribe icon that can be loaded into any project, or in my case, how to use call outs from MA. After my searching today, I saw nothing on YT of any use that explains this. I’d love to see how overlays could also be used in existing projects. If there was a clearer explanation out there of how to integrate these as useful tools, that’d definitely drive more activity for them. Personally, I’ll say from my limited understanding as a rookie, I don’t want to shove a few clips in a machine and have something pop out; I want to be able to adapt this as a tool in the box of creativity, not a magic button. Better organization would be you do all that replacement on the windows folder structure even text and than just render it with Resolve. Is it possible do so?
@@JasonYadlovski Hi thanks for replying. I mentioned, let's say you have 5 videos in the folder of project file ok, now you replace with 5 different videos with same name on the project folder. Than you open project in davinci resolve go to render timeline and see it with new video that you just replaced. if this way it works it will save lots of time for new intro.
I am trying to add macros into Davinci Resolve but everytime I download anything from this website and try to install them the edit file is not there and I can't find the effects, generators, titles, or transitions files. Please help! I reinstalled DR but no luck! I am using Windows 10. Here are the steps I followed: 1.Program Files 2.Blackmagic Design 3.Davinci Resolve 4.Fusion 5.Templates 6. Edits (This file can not be found) 7.Effects, Generators, Titles, Transitions. (These can not be found)

I think i'd just duplicate the project and then make the ones you want. You might be able to copy everything w/in the one project, but I haven't tried it.

I'm not sure I follow your question, but this video shows how to load it up in Resolve. Any other assets you download should have a video tutorial showing you how to use them.
Hey Jason! How would you go about saving one of these clips/renders as a Title, Effects, or Transition. I really loved this video but was left wondering where this portion was? I want to be able to drag and drop my title packs from the effects pane right into my timeline, if you have any insight that'd be great!
Man this is frustrating. This sounds very easy but when I'm trying to set this up text isn't showing up, logo isn't showing up. just some of the footage animation. Does this have more to do with the way motion array sets these templates up or is this a davinci problem
@@JasonYadlovski Sure. Billing block is often that last block of credits at the end of most trailers. Some people call it Credit block. I've seen templates around but they're mainly designed for Adobe. I'm after a template for Davinci Resolve, or a vid tutorial on how to do it.
Got ya. For me, first I would check on motion array and see if they have anything. If not I will grab a sample from somewhere and try and re-create it in Resolve. I don’t have a tutorial on it though. You could check Casey Faris’s page he may have something.

Hey! When you change the frame rates from 29 down to 25 you’re gonna notice the clip looks like it’s stuttering a little bit. That’s because the frames don’t divide out evenly and it cuts out frames to make it 25. Heya Jason, I have watched this over and over (and slowed it down while watching it), and I've tried and tried to get this to work ... using this exact template. And for the life of me, I cannot get the text to show in the Final Render (or actual Export render). I see the text in the Inspector, and can change IT, and I can see it when I play through the "individua0"l Text timelines ... but the text will not show when I play the Final Render. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong? I'm seriously frustrated (and being 75, with permanent heart damage, I do not need additional stress). 🤪

@@JasonYadlovski Jason, I asked Motion Array support about this. Turns out it was something that you eluded to ... but ... . You talked about downloading fonts if you don't have them on your system. However, I had no clue that if the templates had fonts (fushion set) that were not on your computer, that it would cause exactly what I experienced, which will/can additional cause DaVinci Resolve to crash when trying to render out and export the template ... rather than just simply leaving a blank or another 'default' text font. Motion Array support says that this is a DaVinci bug.
Did you try changing the text style to a different font? Typically when I’ve downloaded things from Motion array that need a font, there’s a document that tells me what the font is and where to get it if I don’t have it. I’m wondering if just picking a different font for that piece of text would make the difference for you. Just pick something that’s already on your computer and see if it works.
Hey Jason, having a problem. Hopefully you're able to help out. the template is "Subscribe Buttons" by MisterFlash It's for resolve 17 and has no plug ins. Every time I try to edit the titles of the preset my timeline disappears when I'm double clicking the title. Any tips? or am I just an idiot lol?
I usually try to clear the render cache. That seems to do that trick. Or delete the render cache, then give resolve a quick restart. I ran into something similar.
Most of the logo templates I've tried today from Motion array just don't work. Really, really not impressed with the content there so far. They really need to be checking what they host.

It did take me some time figuring out how to use them. It could be a little bit easier or there could be better instructions. After some trial and error I kinda understood how they work and can figure the templates out.
I've been trying to add pictures into one of the templates from motion array. For some reason they're still coming up as the stock image that I'm trying to replace. If I replace it on the fusion page and add a transform node it works
Can Templates be combined? From what I understand you open a template by opening a project file. One can only have one project open at a time, so how would you combine templates?
@@JasonYadlovski I only saw you open one project file at the beginning of the video. From what I understand, is that you open up a project create a clip and then export and import it into another project. I am not sure if reprocessing the original a 2nd time will result in any quality loss. You have to remember that there is always compression when the video was processed. Incidentally I did watch that video previously but I re-watched thinking that I had missed something. The next issue I see, is that you have to use the same clip length as a place holder. For instance, Edit 1 might be 10 seconds. You are dropping your clip in there and chopping it off at 10 seconds. You are basically using predetermined time slots. Perhaps they can be lengthened? What I am really looking for are text packs and transition packs that appear in the effects library. These templates don't appear to work that way. I want to be able to drop any text/ title or transition when and wherever I want. This workflow of using a template would actually be much slower. I imagine these things are great if you just need an intro. If you to use the effects through out the video things become cumbersome because you are exporting numerous clips and then having to re-import them. Again, I might have missed something but I was looking for an example of where you say open up a Title template and then say a Transition template and just drop titles and transitions wherever you want.

So I subscribed and have downloaded 3 motion graphics so far and the files all contain only MOV files. The macros do not seem to be there. There are no coded or DRA files are in there. I have no idea whats going on. Anyone help!!

Ok cool. Are you using the free version or studio? If you’re using the free version just FYI, it will not utilize much of your GPU. That’s a limitation of the free version but the studio version makes full use of the GPU.

Hey Jason! I have a question about MOGRT for davinchi resolve or anyone else who can please help. I have downloaded the Stylish Subscribe buttons as a Motion Graphic Template (.mogrt) for Davinchi Resolve from Motion Array. Once downloaded I copied the setting files through the Fusion/Showfolder path over to Davinchi under Fusion Effects and even Motion graphics. However, it will not show up. I even changed the file setting to .SET to see if it would recognize but it nothing. It actually showed up temporally in the drop down but then when restarted, it was not available anymore. Please help! Im Running Davinchi Resolve studio on 18
@@JasonYadlovski I just heard from Motion Array and they said that MOGRT is an adobe file. I must have downloaded it for adobe and forgot because I have it to. So, they said IF I had adobe I could bring it in and then export it out with an Alpha Channel to Davinchi. I’ve never heard of doing that does that make sense to you? Do they mean render it out as a video graphic or something else?
That’s great that you heard back from them. I’ve never used the Adobe programs for video editing so I’m not really sure about all that. I would just Google how to export Alpha channel from premiere pro so you can see how to do that. It might work just fine and then you can bring it into Resolve like they mentioned.
Awesome tutorial, but I find MotionArray (and to be fair, this is a problem with the entire industry, not just them) are not very up front about licensing of certain assets. For instance, what exactly are their free assets? Can you download and use them, or are there licensing terms? I see no licensing information at all on MotionArray. I assume I need to have a paid subscription to use even their free assets? Or they exactly what they say: Old elements that are free to take and use, have a play with them, learn how to use templates, then come back to motionarray for the fancier stuff you can pay for?
There are some free items, I used to use the free items for a long time. There's not many of them, but I never had a problem with them. If you have a paid subscription, you can use everything, I think you just need an account to get the free items.
@@JasonYadlovski Yeah there's a decent enough selection of free stuff in fairness, I just wish they'd reassure people that they are completely free and not dependant on having a subscription with a big fat "License: Free to use" notification somewhere on the template page! :D
I downloaded a free asset ( newspaper ) for davinci before I subscribed , the tutorial was awful so the guys on the chat dived in to help but they couldn't do it and advised me to ditch davinci and another guy from MA said envato was good which makes me think its definitely not good for davinci .
It is a little tricky, you just have to understand how it set up and how it works. But that does take some figuring out or checking out some tutorials. I would not say ditch Davinci resolve, it’s still an awesome program. Maybe just use different assets if you’re having trouble with these.

Motion Array templates are a nightmare. Quicker to build your own than spend hours fixing poor templates. Love your stuff Jason but way off on this one.
Sorry to hear you had troubles with them, but I disagreed, the ones I’ve used I have be easy to work with once I understood how they work. But if you can create your own that’s great and might work out better. Templates aside they have a ton of other great assets. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! I appreciate it!
It is a little tricky at first, but once you understand how they are setup up, it’s not too bad to use. It just takes some time learning how they’re put together.

I still don't understand why motion array cant just have simple titles that you can just have at all times on your effects page. This way is so inefficient
They do, this is just not one of the drop in titles. This is an entire intro sequence. But they do have titles that will appear in the effects library with the rest of the the Resolve drag & drop titles.
It really hurts me to see how you are promoting and making so many videos on Motion Array without knowing how they treat their artists. They make so much money by their overpriced subscription plans and still a very (by "very" I mean like veryyyyy) little potion of it goes to the artist and they are the ones who do most of the work. Please take this into consideration before making videos on them. Thank You
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I’m not an artist for motion array so I can’t speak to that side of everything. But on the consumer side they do offer great assets, which is all I have experience with. Change is hard, and I know people get frustrated but you always have to look for the positive in everything. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts.
You asked for being honest. So my answer is NO. The Intro looks not good at all. It looks like a Rave Flyer from the 90s. The Typo is boring. The hard shadow is boring, the grid (graphic elements) makes no sense. The fade in and out is terrible. Same with the mosaic effect. Don't teach "titel design" if you are not a designer. I understand that this video is "for beginners". But stick to "text plus" and learn the principles of graphic design before throwing some templates over your footage. Less is more.
Most people will not look at this with a graphic designer eye. In the past I also went to check all advertising printed matter and envelopes (mail) for their position, ink density, and so on. No one else does that, and neither have I for years. Not everyone has that much professional knowledge and that is not easy to learn. Many people do not have the money to hand over to a design agency. I think most of the audience will think it's cool and that's good enough. Even if I had a "McKinnon" 😄 income, I don't know if I would spend a lot for an intro unless there were a lot of negative reactions. So that is not in line with expectations.
I would agree with you, also I think what you would make for UA-cam is very different than what you would make for something more professional or corporate. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts!
@@JasonYadlovski Feel free to delete my comment. I was a graphic designer for a very long time and I have a very strong opinion about it. That is all. I also diasgree with "for UA-cam". A lot of people sometimes say that you have to pay for good content, and youtube is all "sh*t" but I don´t think so. If you type in Logo Design or Color grade, yes, there 70-80% not so cool conetant. But 10-20 % really amazing stuff. Even professional colorist from Hollywood sharing their Node Tree. I don´t care if it is free content or not I don´t care if it is a paid course or not. Sometimes free content on youtube can be better than paid courses. If I want to get information about music I want to listen to a musician. And If I want infromation about "title design" .. it should come from a designer. Design is an art form. If you are not a designer, don't talk about design. Easy. That is my opinion.

It's just a way to organize everything and allow changes to carry though to the final timeline. Keep learning and you'll get there!
Do you "own" these templates when you download/use or is the license only good for as long as you are a subscriber?
I think you own it, it's just a downloaded file. I don't think it's tracked like music is. But you might want to email them to double check.

Hi Jason, thanks for this. It’s still infuriating why .dra’s are used and not DRFX files which are a billion times easier, and for some, just a simple .setting file is sufficient.
The problem with this method is there’s no realistic way for it to work if you already have an existing, relatively complex project. You have to restore project archive and import footage into the .dra. A lot of the time when this happens, it messes up timing and the clips overall. What I want with these templates is to just drag and drop, just like most other motion graphics.
Hey Kris! I agree, its tough to add them directly into a project. It's almost easier to edit it on it's own, then export the intro and just bring that into your project. That's what I've been doing. I would be nice if you could easily bring it into another project.
1000% agree... Super inconvenient and almost unusable for Pro video editors. Great templates for premiere & AE , but for resolve it's just a mess. Definitely not using it.

I just use the template, make it, then export it as a consolidated file to use in the main video. But I can see how it could cramp the workflow.

If project files are already cut into clips on a timeline, is there a way to work with the template on a new timeline in that project, added after the fact, or just simpler to think of template projects as a separate thing. I always pick up so many "little tips" watching your videos - not necessarily the stuff you're focused on but several "ah-ha" helpful quality of life things. delete cache meybe you dont have font... better if you instal font then restart computer and than you can open project when once you open you have to play all the timelines it helps sometimes. you can try to change fonts and sometimes it helps too if you have imported project than just go upen every timeline play them separately and than go baack to final timeline and it will appear dR18 is buGGy and you what you can do just turn on turn off things play them and it will work :D think that the version is buggy and you are not doing anything wrong and dont waste time to searching some settings to slove problem just like old tv you hit on it and it stops glitching..

Hey, I went by your tutorial but I did not catch how you replaced the logo with the motion array logo for it to be animated. I have been having an hard time trying to replace the logo with my own. Can you give a detailed way of how you replaced the logo? The logo template I am using is “Glitch Logo”
Great video, I am able to change the text on the titles but it's not showing the changes on the timeline, the old text is still showing. Any help would be appreciated.
I'd try deleting the render cache. Sometimes that does the trick with these templates.
This really helps explain the basics! Is there a way to use these kinds of templates as a slide show within another project? I am working on a corporate project that contains interview clips, product video clips, etc but I need to include some slides here and there and I need to be able to control the duration of the slides. So far Im struggling to find anything from MA that is helpful. Any ideas?
Glad this was helpful! So I'd use things like this and many of the other templates as an intro/outtro or some kind of 'cool' factor in the project. For your normal interview clips, etc. I would just add them and edit them like normal. I'm not sure they would work well in any of the templates like this one. The slide show templates might be able to work for some of your project too. I think it just depends on what you want the final video to look like.. 😁
Can we do this on the free version of Davinci Resolve?
If you have the template you should be able to do it. It might run very slow since the free version doesn’t use the GPU.

I do have a strange problem and just can't get behind it... Does not matter which template I try, also it does not matter if i insert footage or not. When I start the preview of the full Clip(Final Render in your video), the window just stays black.(also if I export the clip)
Any hint on what is possibly going wrong? - I'm trying to learn some video recording and editing.
I have successfully edited some of my own footage, everything worked fine there. The problem only arises if I use templates (maybe fusion related?)
I did clear the render cache ans also tried all 3 settings of it.
To note:
If I open up one of the placeholders, preview works fine and video gets played.
If I open the "Final Render"/"Montage"/"Render" timeline it is just pitch black.
I already have tried uninstalling/reinstalling/using V17 instead of V18.
Computer Specs should not be a problem either, I'm running a pretty beefy setup.
I am using the free Version of Davinci Resolve for now.
Any hint would be veeeery much appriciated!
Sounds like you're doing all the right things, I found clearing the render cache after I had dropped in clips seemed to work. Sometimes I did close resolve and reopen it after clearing the cache. It could be that its the free version too, maybe there's a difference, but I wouldn't think so. Keep in mind, the free version of Resolve will not use the GPU - that's a limitation of the free version. The Studio versions makes full use of the GPU. Maybe try reaching out to Motion Array too and see if they can offer any help.
actually one of ten motion array templates works in davinci. It's embarrassing.

Hi! I think I would modify the final timeline to match your beat. I haven't tried it, but that's probably where I'd start.
@@JasonYadlovski I tried shorten or stretching it to match my sound track. But the result is that it fudges up the effects & whipes & media is not showing up. I do not know how to modify it so it doesn't glitch out. Kinda sad cuz i would love to use pre-made templates. but i need to be able to modify it so to fit my chosen song & the length of the clip i want. (6 sec, 30-45- a min...) & not just be stuck with what they made. If you found out. plz give us a tutorial. thq for the reply

Hey Jason, I started trying templates in 17 and then recently moved to 18, but in either version, I still seem to get the same result where the pictures don't show up in the timeline or the export render. I followed the instructions (template files and your video), but to no avail. Where the pictures need to be, its all blank. I have tried different templates but I get no result. And I can't figure it out. :(

Hey man, thanks for checking out my videos! The first thing I would try is to clear the render cache. I found I always had to do that for my video clips or images to show up. If that doesn’t work, then I would restart resolve or just change projects and come back and then usually things with show up. Give that a try and see if it works.
I'm a new user of Motion Array. While I'm able to download the assets and I've had some success with music tracks, that's about it since some assets won't drop in the media pool. I'm hoping Jason will make individual tutorials using DR 18 for dropping in Music/Sound Effects/Templates/Intros/Transitions, etc.
I like the assets and fine with the price, but time is valuable and I'm looking for easy and reliable. I suspect I'll be moving on to other options soon. Is it just me or have other new users experienced frustration?

However i have encountered a problem using the Motion Array templates in DaVinici, when in import the template there is no text only black screen. I am unable to add or edit any text and i don't know how to fix this problem. Really would appreciate your help
You may have to select a new font style in the inspector when you are editing the text. then it should appear. Also delete the render cache, that should help.
I had the same problem. If you change the text the graphic will begin to show. I guess that means you dont have the original text installed for the graphic?

For the text, what if I wanted to add a drop shadow to them? I'm trying to add a drop shadow to my text in the "Edit Text" timeline, but it isn't showing up in the final render in my main timeline. Any idea why? Videos are INSANELY helpful! Keep up the great work!💖
New to how MA works as of 2 hours ago, this strikes me as being very cookie cutter and extremely complicated. I'm not a fan of how the MA system works.
I hear ya, it's a little tricky until you understand how the templates are set up. I mostly use the overlays, motion graphics and audio assets. They all work great and are easy to use.

I think I’d be great if you maybe did a run through on how to use and insert some of these items into an existing project. ie - how to handle a YT subscribe icon that can be loaded into any project, or in my case, how to use call outs from MA. After my searching today, I saw nothing on YT of any use that explains this.
I’d love to see how overlays could also be used in existing projects.
If there was a clearer explanation out there of how to integrate these as useful tools, that’d definitely drive more activity for them.
Personally, I’ll say from my limited understanding as a rookie, I don’t want to shove a few clips in a machine and have something pop out; I want to be able to adapt this as a tool in the box of creativity, not a magic button.

Hi thanks for replying. I mentioned, let's say you have 5 videos in the folder of project file ok, now you replace with 5 different videos with same name on the project folder. Than you open project in davinci resolve go to render timeline and see it with new video that you just replaced. if this way it works it will save lots of time for new intro.
I think you’d have to actually swap out the clips in resolve, I don’t think it would work that way.
Using templates is way harder than I thought. Specially considering it varies from one to another. I thought it was just drag and drop shit 😂
It's a little tricky, but once you get the hang of it it's not so bad. Some are easier than others.

I am trying to add macros into Davinci Resolve but everytime I download anything from this website and try to install them the edit file is not there and I can't find the effects, generators, titles, or transitions files. Please help! I reinstalled DR but no luck!

I think i'd just duplicate the project and then make the ones you want. You might be able to copy everything w/in the one project, but I haven't tried it.

I'm not sure I follow your question, but this video shows how to load it up in Resolve. Any other assets you download should have a video tutorial showing you how to use them.

Hey Jason! How would you go about saving one of these clips/renders as a Title, Effects, or Transition. I really loved this video but was left wondering where this portion was? I want to be able to drag and drop my title packs from the effects pane right into my timeline, if you have any insight that'd be great!
You can save some of the those items in Powerbins. Others you can save a preset for.
Man this is frustrating. This sounds very easy but when I'm trying to set this up text isn't showing up, logo isn't showing up. just some of the footage animation. Does this have more to do with the way motion array sets these templates up or is this a davinci problem
I hear you, it can be a little frustrating. I found that sometimes I have to delete the cache files and then everything shows up and starts working.

Trailer billing block? Not sure what you mean. 🤔 could you clarify?
@@JasonYadlovski Sure. Billing block is often that last block of credits at the end of most trailers. Some people call it Credit block. I've seen templates around but they're mainly designed for Adobe. I'm after a template for Davinci Resolve, or a vid tutorial on how to do it.
Got ya. For me, first I would check on motion array and see if they have anything. If not I will grab a sample from somewhere and try and re-create it in Resolve. I don’t have a tutorial on it though. You could check Casey Faris’s page he may have something.

Hey! When you change the frame rates from 29 down to 25 you’re gonna notice the clip looks like it’s stuttering a little bit. That’s because the frames don’t divide out evenly and it cuts out frames to make it 25. Heya Jason, I have watched this over and over (and slowed it down while watching it), and I've tried and tried to get this to work ... using this exact template. And for the life of me, I cannot get the text to show in the Final Render (or actual Export render).
I see the text in the Inspector, and can change IT, and I can see it when I play through the "individua0"l Text timelines ... but the text will not show when I play the Final Render. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong? I'm seriously frustrated (and being 75, with permanent heart damage, I do not need additional stress). 🤪
You might want to try deleting the render cache and see if that helps.....

You talked about downloading fonts if you don't have them on your system. However, I had no clue that if the templates had fonts (fushion set) that were not on your computer, that it would cause exactly what I experienced, which will/can additional cause DaVinci Resolve to crash when trying to render out and export the template ... rather than just simply leaving a blank or another 'default' text font. Motion Array support says that this is a DaVinci bug.
Did you try changing the text style to a different font? Typically when I’ve downloaded things from Motion array that need a font, there’s a document that tells me what the font is and where to get it if I don’t have it. I’m wondering if just picking a different font for that piece of text would make the difference for you. Just pick something that’s already on your computer and see if it works.

It's for resolve 17 and has no plug ins. Every time I try to edit the titles of the preset my timeline disappears when I'm double clicking the title. Any tips? or am I just an idiot lol?
I usually try to clear the render cache. That seems to do that trick. Or delete the render cache, then give resolve a quick restart. I ran into something similar.

Most of the logo templates I've tried today from Motion array just don't work. Really, really not impressed with the content there so far. They really need to be checking what they host.

It did take me some time figuring out how to use them. It could be a little bit easier or there could be better instructions. After some trial and error I kinda understood how they work and can figure the templates out.
I've been trying to add pictures into one of the templates from motion array. For some reason they're still coming up as the stock image that I'm trying to replace. If I replace it on the fusion page and add a transform node it works

Can Templates be combined? From what I understand you open a template by opening a project file. One can only have one project open at a time, so how would you combine templates?
You can open multiple project files at a time, then just copy and paste between them. I’ve got a vid on how to open multiple projects at once.

@@JasonYadlovski I only saw you open one project file at the beginning of the video. From what I understand, is that you open up a project create a clip and then export and import it into another project. I am not sure if reprocessing the original a 2nd time will result in any quality loss. You have to remember that there is always compression when the video was processed. Incidentally I did watch that video previously but I re-watched thinking that I had missed something.
The next issue I see, is that you have to use the same clip length as a place holder. For instance, Edit 1 might be 10 seconds. You are dropping your clip in there and chopping it off at 10 seconds. You are basically using predetermined time slots. Perhaps they can be lengthened?
What I am really looking for are text packs and transition packs that appear in the effects library. These templates don't appear to work that way. I want to be able to drop any text/ title or transition when and wherever I want. This workflow of using a template would actually be much slower. I imagine these things are great if you just need an intro. If you to use the effects through out the video things become cumbersome because you are exporting numerous clips and then having to re-import them.
Again, I might have missed something but I was looking for an example of where you say open up a Title template and then say a Transition template and just drop titles and transitions wherever you want.

all of the template i have clicked on ,which are many, are not free !!! and couldnt find any free template there
You can filter your results by what is free. There’s not a whole lot that’s free but there are a few things to try. That’s what I used to do.
So I subscribed and have downloaded 3 motion graphics so far and the files all contain only MOV files. The macros do not seem to be there. There are no coded or DRA files are in there. I have no idea whats going on. Anyone help!!

Ok cool. Are you using the free version or studio? If you’re using the free version just FYI, it will not utilize much of your GPU. That’s a limitation of the free version but the studio version makes full use of the GPU.

Hey Jason! I have a question about MOGRT for davinchi resolve or anyone else who can please help. I have downloaded the Stylish Subscribe buttons as a Motion Graphic Template (.mogrt) for Davinchi Resolve from Motion Array. Once downloaded I copied the setting files through the Fusion/Showfolder path over to Davinchi under Fusion Effects and even Motion graphics. However, it will not show up. I even changed the file setting to .SET to see if it would recognize but it nothing. It actually showed up temporally in the drop down but then when restarted, it was not available anymore. Please help! Im Running Davinchi Resolve studio on 18

@@JasonYadlovski I just heard from Motion Array and they said that MOGRT is an adobe file. I must have downloaded it for adobe and forgot because I have it to. So, they said IF I had adobe I could bring it in and then export it out with an Alpha Channel to Davinchi. I’ve never heard of doing that does that make sense to you? Do they mean render it out as a video graphic or something else?
That’s great that you heard back from them. I’ve never used the Adobe programs for video editing so I’m not really sure about all that. I would just Google how to export Alpha channel from premiere pro so you can see how to do that. It might work just fine and then you can bring it into Resolve like they mentioned.

Awesome tutorial, but I find MotionArray (and to be fair, this is a problem with the entire industry, not just them) are not very up front about licensing of certain assets. For instance, what exactly are their free assets? Can you download and use them, or are there licensing terms? I see no licensing information at all on MotionArray. I assume I need to have a paid subscription to use even their free assets? There are some free items, I used to use the free items for a long time. There's not many of them, but I never had a problem with them. If you have a paid subscription, you can use everything, I think you just need an account to get the free items.
@@JasonYadlovski Yeah there's a decent enough selection of free stuff in fairness, I just wish they'd reassure people that they are completely free and not dependant on having a subscription with a big fat "License: Free to use" notification somewhere on the template page! :D

I downloaded a free asset ( newspaper ) for davinci before I subscribed , the tutorial was awful so the guys on the chat dived in to help but they couldn't do it and advised me to ditch davinci and another guy from MA said envato was good which makes me think its definitely not good for davinci .
It is a little tricky, you just have to understand how it set up and how it works. But that does take some figuring out or checking out some tutorials. I would not say ditch Davinci resolve, it’s still an awesome program. Maybe just use different assets if you’re having trouble with these.
@@JasonYadlovski I am not ditching davinci I paid for the studio version 😀 , I was getting my head round it but it just would not work even the guys who worked there couldn't do it.

Motion Array - Lets make this as annoying as possible
Motion Array templates are a nightmare. Quicker to build your own than spend hours fixing poor templates. Love your stuff Jason but way off on this one.
Sorry to hear you had troubles with them, but I disagreed, the ones I’ve used I have be easy to work with once I understood how they work. But if you can create your own that’s great and might work out better. Templates aside they have a ton of other great assets. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! I appreciate it!

It is a little tricky at first, but once you understand how they are setup up, it’s not too bad to use. It just takes some time learning how they’re put together.

I still don't understand why motion array cant just have simple titles that you can just have at all times on your effects page. This way is so inefficient
They do, this is just not one of the drop in titles. This is an entire intro sequence. But they do have titles that will appear in the effects library with the rest of the the Resolve drag & drop titles.

It really hurts me to see how you are promoting and making so many videos on Motion Array without knowing how they treat their artists. They make so much money by their overpriced subscription plans and still a very (by "very" I mean like veryyyyy) little potion of it goes to the artist and they are the ones who do most of the work. Please take this into consideration before making videos on them.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I’m not an artist for motion array so I can’t speak to that side of everything. But on the consumer side they do offer great assets, which is all I have experience with. Change is hard, and I know people get frustrated but you always have to look for the positive in everything. You asked for being honest. So my answer is NO. The Intro looks not good at all. It looks like a Rave Flyer from the 90s. The Typo is boring. The hard shadow is boring, the grid (graphic elements) makes no sense. The fade in and out is terrible. Same with the mosaic effect. Don't teach "titel design" if you are not a designer. I understand that this video is "for beginners". But stick to "text plus" and learn the principles of graphic design before throwing some templates over your footage. Less is more.

Most people will not look at this with a graphic designer eye. In the past I also went to check all advertising printed matter and envelopes (mail) for their position, ink density, and so on. No one else does that, and neither have I for years. Not everyone has that much professional knowledge and that is not easy to learn. Many people do not have the money to hand over to a design agency. I think most of the audience will think it's cool and that's good enough. Even if I had a "McKinnon" 😄 income, I don't know if I would spend a lot for an intro unless there were a lot of negative reactions. So that is not in line with expectations.
I would agree with you, also I think what you would make for UA-cam is very different than what you would make for something more professional or corporate. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts!
@@JasonYadlovski Feel free to delete my comment. I was a graphic designer for a very long time and I have a very strong opinion about it. That is all. I also diasgree with "for UA-cam". A lot of people sometimes say that you have to pay for good content, and youtube is all "sh*t" but I don´t think so. If you type in Logo Design or Color grade, yes, there 70-80% not so cool conetant. But 10-20 % really amazing stuff. Even professional colorist from Hollywood sharing their Node Tree. I don´t care if it is free content or not I don´t care if it is a paid course or not. Sometimes free content on youtube can be better than paid courses.
If I want to get information about music I want to listen to a musician. And If I want infromation about "title design" .. it should come from a designer. Design is an art form. If you are not a designer, don't talk about design. Easy. That is my opinion.
