- The son of Cherica Adams and former Carolina Panther Rae Carruth, Chancellor Lee Adams was born into traumatic circumstances in 1999 that caused permanent brain damage and threatened his life. he will turn 21 on Monday, November 16, 2020.

I remember hearing about this in 1999 I was also pregnant with my son and I just cried when I heard Chericas story. The 911 call just broke my heart. My son is 21 now and I often think of Cherica and how much in 21 years has happened. Chancellor was robbed of a great mother but thank God he has his grandmother who has taken that role and never gave up on him. This lady is an inspiration to me I absolutely love her even though I don't know her.
I feel the same way about him and her. If I ever got the chance to meet them, I might act like a straight up groupie. Fainting and breaking down crying. Strong people are my weakness. I feel like I love them as well.
I did a paper in my criminal law class on Rae Carruth. The cowardliness of that man was unimaginable. The more I researched for the paper the greater my faith in mankind became as I read about how the grandmother who lost her daughter to that man would step up so fiercely to raise her grandchild with love and compassion. She is a rare breed.
It's the little piece she got left from her daughter who died because of her love and protection of this boy . So my question is why wouldn't the grandma step up as caregiver?
@Amber Rodriguez some people allow fear to consume the right decision that should be made. In Sandra's case she didn't and the boy you speak of Chanceller Lee made it.
Old girl was trying to extort him with that baby. She played a dangerous game and lost.

He also has a lot of audacity not only showing up the hospital right after shooting her but now trying to petition for custody?!? Just all around audacity
I’m so happy to see he’s still smiling. I am grateful God blessed him with a dedicated, caring grandmother. I wish his mom was here to see him and I can’t help but think of how his life would have differed if only his father had a soul.

Awww! I have sickle cell disease & today was a rough day pain wise. As I'm watching this it makes me feel bad for complaining.
It's sad that he lost his mother & has to be disabled but I think he is going great as far as beating the odds of them saying he would be in a vegetative state.
When I was in a coma for 5 days they told my mom the same thing. This was in March 2017.
