  • On the early morning hours of March 22nd, FDNY Companies in the Bronx responded on a single-source phone alarm for a fire across the street from 162 West 165th St. First due engine 68 arrived and gave a 10-75, reporting the fire in a building on Ogden Ave. Shortly after arrival they recommended a second alarm be transmitted due to fire in two vacant dwellings on arrival. The buildings quickly became well involved, and fire began to extend to the 2A exposure (a 5 story OMD) and the 4 exposure (a 6 story multiple dwelling under construction). Due to advanced fire conditions a companies quickly began tower ladder operations, using two tower ladders and several hand lines to extinguish the fire from the exterior.
