Fabulous Thank God young people are still loving our old music I am forever in tears lt always makes me cry.
Julian Ovenden is a STAR!
People of the 20th century were blessed with the golden age of music. So many amazing composers - we were so spoiled.
Julian sang that as well as Gordon Macrae! Wow!!!!
I still watch wonderful Julian on "Foyles War." You'll love it. 😁
This man has a beautiful voice
And a beautiful face so handsome
JULIAN AND SIERRA! These are two amazing singers. Rodgers and Hammerstein would love them as much as I do. Fabulous singers! Every bit as good as Gordon McCray and Shirley Jones! They could Star in a new revival of Oklahoma! Glorious singing by these young talents!
+TheMusicguy68 How do you know what Rogers and Hammerstein would feel to hear their music performed thus?
She has a lovely voice & is so beautiful! Beautiful song-one of my favorites!
I love these two. I am not getting things done because I wake up, make espresso and log on to You Tube and listen to Julian and Sierra for a couple of hours every day. Julian's CD is great for the car. Music is so much better in the car because you can focus with no distraction. You just have to have a high end system. Thank God for music.
And Julian Ovenden's singing just gave me goosebumps! Amazing voice!!
Even though I love Shirley Jones, I agree with you. They need to get onto remaking Oklahoma! with these two.
Oh my, what beautiful music. Julian sings the songs with such energy and great facial expression. I just cannot hear him sing enough! Thank heavens for UTube! And Sierra just complements him. They are meant to perform together!
Jackie Mcmeekin p
So right. Whenever I feel overTrumped, I listen to these two sing R&H. So fine! Where are they now? 2018???
WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW - I can't say enough how perfect these two are to play Curly and Laurie on Broadway. America would spend millions - where are the producers?
One of the BEST TENORS ON THE PLANET!!!
I never heard of Julian Ovenden before.....He is SENSATIONAL !! as is Sierra Boggess.
What amazing voices.
me, too! i never heard of julian ovenden and sierra boggess before.....thanks to covid-19 pandemic and the lockdown, i had all the time to tinker on youtube and discovered these two sensational, fantastic singers. they are indeed, amazing.
Look for him on several BBC series. He plays the son of the main character in ‘Foyles War’ and he plays a suitor to Lady Mary in ‘Downton Abby’.
He does have a wonderful voice!
Julian Ovenden has a fantastic voice. Can't wait till his CD is released.
I love this version
Sierra and Julian sing these “Oklahoma” songs with passion and energy! They are just great together.
Jackie Mcmeekin =
She sings so effortlessly!
They're amazing, marvelous. I've listened to so many people singing these parts and these two are absolutely the best. I like Hugh Jackman as Curly but this Julian Ovenden is a miracle. This Laurie - her voice is so light and delicate, skipping across the music and delivering every word. He sings as if it were opera without any of the heaviness one associates with opera. They're entirely, absolutely wonderful.
Music at it's very best omg.... beautiful
Sierras voice is phenominal!! Love it
So well done, the singing by both, and the orchestra. Sierra is especially wonderful and sings effortlessly. It's nice to see young people keeping good music alive.
I have watched this half dozen times.....grateful i found it.........only way i can describe it is that i am left speechless
I hadn't come across Julian Ovenden before, but I LOVE his voice in these songs!!
And Sierra was amazing as always! :)
I. LOVE. HIS. VOICE. MARRYME!
Sierra has a marvellous voice!!! She's just stunning!!!! It feels like her soul is singing!!! )
I've been binging on Julian Ovenden/Sierra Boggess numbers since this morning. I've been in the office 3 hours ago and I haven't been able to do a single piece of work T_T
Wow! Every word can be understood placed in a beautiful melodic setting.
No need for a rhythm track to make it "interesting."
The voices, the orchestra combine in creating a living experience.
Thank God, we still have artists who understand the power of "RUBATO."
Thanks all your gifted participants.
Volim ovu pjesmu. Oduvijek mi je bila u uhu. I sada sam se obradovala kada sam je čula.
The goofiness off stage is so endearing! Love that she is unpretentious, down to earth, humble, genuine and... goofy! Success can absolutely ruin people. She obviously hasn't let it with her!
Cosette has never had a stronger voice, never been so expressive of earned emotion, never better acted and never been so beautiful before or since. Brava!
Julian and Sierra are simply wonderful. This is real music!
Hey America! Forget American Idol and The Voice! True talent is here!
Nice voices
I love both of them. Well done. Could listen to these voices all day!
Keep on singing you have the magic touch both of you together
These two great singers do the music justice. What a wonderful score in “Oklahoma”!
Opera is so popular here in northeast Oklahoma. Great performance!
"People Will Say We're in Love" is a good song for every ship LOL :D
They are GREAT together, and he is a very special performer!
I agree with the comment below. This is the music composed for “ all time and all generations”. John Wilson is a great conductor. Then one hears two commensurate singers. “It doesn’t get any better than this”!!!
As a music lover I can only thanks the BBC and the proms of course for giving us a feast of proper music instead of the tripe served up by X factor, pop idol et al.
Only hope the fabulous orchestra of John Wilson gives us more in 2011
Even the conductor was spectacular.
I love listening to them both. Such beautiful powerful voices.
I so want to live in London right now. Ever since I first heard about Love Never Dies, I have wanted to live over there (I live over here in the US). I like all the shows the BBC does. I just hate that the stuff we get over here in the US, it has to come later. I can't wait until Love Never Dies gets on Broadway! Sierra has a beautiful singing voice.
He does a good job with the Midwest accent
He sounds very close to Gordon MacRae--that ringing heroic baritone--with just a touch of John Raitt tossed in. Beautiful, virile voice!!
You said it better thanks
julian was stunning, and that final note by sierra was stunning!!!!
love for julian ovenden...amazing voice!!
Just watched it AGAIN. They're the perfect Curly and Laurie.
The song, “People will say we’re in Love” is Queen Elizabeth’s favorite song. We have such great composers in the U.S. Sierra and Julian sing these songs from “Oklahoma” so beautifully. Their voices are superb.
WOW!
I agree with the wonderful comments about both of these fantastic performers. But what has always amazed me most about Oklahoma are the lyrics. Every word in every song is absolutely perfect. What genius went into their making!!
JULIAN AND SIERRA! Two amazing singers. Rodgers and Hammerstein would love them has do I. Fabulous singers! Every bit as good as Gordon McCray and Shirley Jones! They could Star in a new revival of Oklahoma! Glorious singing by these young talents!
Loved this, wish it had been repeated. I love Julian Ovenden!
The BBC needs to this wonderful concert onto DVD,
Such a great voice! Thanks for sharing! The musicians are superb🍃🌾🍁🍂🌲💒
They look and sound like angels. In short, divine.
I think they need to do a reprise of Oklahoma and cast these two..
We want this on DVD, Beeb!!!
I love this musical. I will have to dig out my dvd with Jones and McCrae. I would love to see a remake with Sierra.
Simply superb!
Julian has the most beautiful voice
No, it's not on DVD, sadly. Proms are Promenade Concerts, a series of concerts each year at the Royal Albert Hall in London. :-)
This was a brilliant prom! Thanks so much for posting. :-)
Las voces juveniles, pero ya maduras profesionalmente, hacen una muy agradable mezcla de sonidos armónicos que se traducen en entusiasmo.
Can they just go ahead and remake Oklahoma! with these two please? That would be amazing!
HE IS HANDSOME OMG 😍😍😍
Julian is awesome
LOVE LOVE!!!! Why did I just discover this now???? :O
I love Oklahoma!
Thank you for sharing. I absolutely love these two!
I saw "Oklahoma" in Houston, Texas USA about 70 years ago (I was about 6 years old). Even at that young age I could sense the general well being and good feelings of the audience -- as with all Americans -- due to World War Two being over. "Oklahoma" was true America. Coincidentally one of the minor actors in the stage play that afternoon was named Dale Johnson, so I had a special memorable connection to the play. I understood every word.
I wonder if anywhere on the internet is the story (as I remember it) of the first showing of Oklahoma in the theater district in London in 1945 or 1946 ---I have the thought that Princess Margaret or Queen Elizabeth was in the audience. I believe that "Oklahoma" was the first musical to be shown in the London theater district after The War. As I remember it, the production received an incredible first night reception ---- to the extent that at the end of the show the audience would not stop applauding to numerous curtain calls, and when the encores began, a large percentage of the audience flowed down the aisles and crashed on to the stage -- filling the stage -- and began singing along with the cast as did most of the remaining audience in their seats, for perhaps an hour.
It was a truly great moment in theater history --- an out pouring of pure joy and thankfulness that the simple little ideas and life of "Oklahoma" -- which most English people probably didn't even know the location of except that it was somewhere in southern or southwest America had been preserved through tremendous sacrifice and hardship and loss of life and that The War was now finally and victoriously over.
+Dale Johnson I salute you
Someone thinks that my version is embellished apparently. I'm sure that I heard an interview with someone who attended that first London presentation after World War Two --- and that at the end the orchestra replayed the entire music repetoire, With amazing audience participation. Someone 35 then would be 100. Not much chance of hearing from observer on the scene still living, but here's to a try. Some bright spry Londoner might speak up.
Dale Johnson Any chance we can find that recorder somewhere. BBC files? Would’ve great to see that
I love her, I think I account for 2000 of the views of this
i noticed nobody said anything about julian ovenden. he was amazing
HERMOSA VOZ EXPRESIVA Y BRILLANTE ...
Superb all the way
I can't help repeating myself now I'm watching it again. Julian Ovenden is perfect as Curly. Who sings this music perfectly anymore? Who understands it? Very few, Julian Ovenden and his costar "get" the music. Please. please tell me he's coming to the US to play this part.on the stage.
This guy's got it.
HIS SMILE OMFG HE'S SO HANDSOME MMM OMG UGHGHGHGHGHGHG 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Love Julian! My favorite!
Fantabulous thanks tons ;o)))
Julian Ovenden is spectacular, what a lovely voice!
His voice IS AMAZING CLEAR WITH NO TINY EVIDENCE OF having any moment of faltering off pitch and key and definitely is bad health vices!!!!His voice clearer than Pavoratti
just discovered this guy, WOW great voice. sierras hot too.
Great ☺
Yep. Got half a dozen concerts between now and mid July. Show tunes! You bet. Old folks love them, and even kids if I do it right . . .whatever that is. One problem. My accompanist fits the mold of Sierra.
Sierra would be an amazing Laurey!!
Might be time for a revival of Oklahoma! :)
If Ramin were in this video, people would like it a lot more!
@horerfandod3 He did. Actually, I always had a soft spot for Gordon Macrae and his lovely voice. But that was the movie version, which was what I grew up with, and how I was introduced to the show.
Where are you now dear Julian? So wonderful with Sierra- or on your own.
Aren’t you working??
WHY won't the BBC release this prom as a DVD? :-(((
Sierra is #1 on my bucket list! Ovendon is very talented. I like him better sans the facial hair😇
WHY WHY WHY won't the BBC release this prom on DVD? :-(
1966 my first show to sing in and a loved it it was a wonderful feeling not my favourite West Side Story and maybe Carousel
I wouldn't mind people saying I was in love with him...
@24chazza In some ways I think those shows are funnier than some of the sitcoms we have over here in the United States. Even if they are pretty old. The BBC just seems to show that London has a lot of neat events to go to. Plus, it's a beautiful place!
@24chazza I think if I had lived in London all my life, I would probably say the same thing as you and you would probably say the same thing if you lived over here in America. Besides, I think that the West End has almost all of the exact same musicals as Broadway. Also, I would love to go see a Broadway show! I can't go see one a lot because I don't live near NYC. I've only seen one actually on Broadway. Also, I've watched a lot of BBC shows on tv that I think are really funny.
When can we have this on DVD?
Is this concert brought out on dvd?
