It's a shame that Minnie had only about 6 months to live around the time of this performance, hence why her right arm was fixed in the same position due to her illness. Such a beautiful voice she had and such a beautiful person. Rest In Peace Minnie xxxx
Makes me cry each time, My God-- when she said " I don't want to go, Save Me." I played it for my Hubby one day and was explaining the pain and that she was dying and asking God to save her, it almost brought him to tears. I had to turn it off. After watching unsung, I felt like I would have liked to have known this beautiful woman.
The only song that always brings tears to my eyes! I remember I was 12 years old when she passed from breast cancer, and even then I knew the world would be missing a angelic voice forever. Her voice touches something very deep and heartfelt whenever I hear this song!!! R.I.P. LOVELY LADY.
Saw her doc. on TV1 and this made me cry. You could tell that she didn't want to go. I tear up and get chills when she sings Save me and I don't want to go. And those wedding pictures. Man, I'm tearing up right now typing this.
what made this even more sad was that on her unsung they said the cancer had spread to her right arm which is why she was holding it in that position and not moving it much it had metastasized and she was in the final stages smh RIP Beauty

I tear up everytime I hear her music because she was so young, beautiful, talented, and had such a sweet spirit about her. When I get to heaven, I hope to meet her. RIP Minnie
Just finished watching Minnie Ripperton's unsung and I learned of her struggle with her cancer battle and how through it all she still made music and perform to keep her fans happy she truly is and was an inspiration, her music really needs to be worldwide cause I grew up thinking she only had one song but I learned of so much more, and I never knew the actress from saturday night live was her daughter and since i've seen this I see how much her daughter is like her.
Just like all of you, I watched "Unsung" on Sunday about her and I just cried. It broke my heart to see what she went through. She was a strong woman and wow, what talent. I like how they told her story, but most of all I like the fact that she had her own unique style. They sure don't make them like her anymore. RIP Minnie.
A cancerous tumor paralyzed her right arm in early 1979. In her final singing appearances on television, her right arm would remain in a fixed position during her performances.

I was listening to this song on another site and I was reading the comments. One of the comments posted stated that "someone should do a remake to this song and make it a duet". I am still at a TOTAL lost of words.
The end of the song rips through my heart every time I hear it, because we all know what the songs about, but when she says " I dont wanna go", "Save me" etc. its heartbreaking. I cant imagine what it's like for Maya and Marc to have to hear their mother say that in one of her last songs.
Her left arm seems fine - it is her right arm that appears to be the problem. If I remember correctly, it was from Lymphadema after her radical mastectomy.
To think that this was done during her battle with breast cancer and she still sounded as great as she did... This is a huge showing as to the perseverance that she possessed
This is so absolutely beautiful. Maatspeear is correct, her right arm had been paralyzed at this point by cancer. She died only a month or so after this I believe, but kept on singing to almost the very end. That was an absolute gift to us all. Everytime I see Maya's face I see Minnie. RIP Minnie.
I looked at this closely. She is not lip synching IMO. I can tell because of the whistle register notes they are definitely live, one even cracks just a little... I can also hear her live breaths in between pauses. Amazing Singer.
I'm still in awe of Minnie Riperton's strength and courage fighting to the very end.God bless her sweet beautiful heart she didn't want to go, but she went out courageously.😪 In 2019 she's very much still remember and CHERISHED.

Minnie it's been 30yrs since U left us & the void you left is still here. @iwashim Well I watched her episode on Unsung and her husband said that her right arm was in so much pain and that's the reason she didn't want to move it.
This was her final performance. I read her Wikipedia page and it says a cancerous tumor caused her right arm to stay in a fixed position when she performed on the Mike Douglas show. She died only a month later. Minnie was a very courageous woman. Still performing and entertaining her fans although she was suffering. I was very young when she died so I'm just now getting to know Minnie thanks to Unsung. I love her music and she is truly one of the classiest female singers. R.I.P. Minnie.
