Deniece Williams has a 5 octave also. Deniece had been singing back up for Stevie Wonder for a number of years. I've always believed that's why she didn't get the credit Minnie did. "Back Down Memory Lane" is my favorite song of hers. When she sung that note, "I don't wanna go," it gave me chills as a child. When I got older, I found out that she knew she was dying and that's what she was singing about. One of my sisters used to sing that all of time when I was little. She could hit that 5 octave throat whistle too. One of my favorite album covers of all time is the "Perfect Angel" cover. Thanks for this upload. You brought back some fond memories for me.

I love Minnie Riperton. How sad it was when she died. I still feel sad whenever I see any clips of her and how she died so young. Minnie Riperton was a vocal beast and a class act. Although Minnie Riperton was supposed to be a 5 Octave singer when she sang live she could go to 8 octaves, I heard her live many times, what a gifted woman. Rip Minnie Riperton...

I was introduced to Minnie Riperton’s music when I was 15 (1995)My uncle bought me a radio for Christmas and I used to play WDAS. They played old school music. The first song I heard from her was Loving You. They used to play Back Down Memory Lane a lot. . Inside My Love is a beautiful song❤ I fell in love with with her voice. When you’re 15 the age 31 sounds old. But now that I am 44. Her passing away at 31 is sooo young and crazy to me. She passed away they day after I was born. I was born July 11,1979. Thankyou for telling her story❤. She’s a Angel. May She Rest Well 🕊️

I loved it whenever Minnie came on the radio in the early 70s, Had to buy her albums. I had a very definitive collection of her music on casette tapes. I especially loved her "Perfect Angel" album...and especially her underrated hit, "Lovin You"! I played that song endlessly...until I got into other genres of music, like smooth jazz and the like...but I felt very sorry the day she died in 1979. I was so numb that I had to play "Lovin You" so many timews to console myself. All I can say now today is that I her "Perfect Angel" CD and I played it for my daughter until she was 7 years old. God bless her soul, I loved her high octave range and such a beautiful voice....so gifted. She blessed us all...her upbringing and all...plus also giving us her equally talented daughter, Maya Rudolph. God bless her. I loved Minnie...keep singing and soar with the angels in praise! Thank you for your voice and talent, Minnie...I'll see you in heaven soon.

I seen her appearance on Soul train and American bandstand it was very sad that she was so sick. My mother died of mestatic breast cancer in 1997, she loved minne riperton also. Good job on the Minnie's story, I always wanted to know some solid details about her but I never researched because it felt strange, I always knew what she passed from, she was so unique with her voice and sad songs I felt creepy and It made my mother sad. Minnie's story was sadder than I thought especially because we lived growing up about 35 minutes from her when she lived in Gainesville FL never knew that wow. Great Job!!

I have always Been fascinated with Minnie ripperton since I was 7 years old back in late 70s. I used to watch Her perform live. And what captivated me was the live orchestra behind her, it was so. Theatrical to me, I studied her rifts from Front to back top to bottom. As a young adult, 1990 I ended up moving on Jasmine street. When they are ran into a young girl by the name of Carla. I mean, Carla became very good friends. We decided to start a singing group together called Kayla. I met Carla and her aunt at the corner store. Her aunt name was Sandra Ripperton She started talking to me and I told her that I sang her voice had a distinct tone to it and I said. Hey, wait a minute, are you related to Minnie ripperton? That's when she said yes, that's my Sister, so we all left the store and walked back to sandra's apartment, she had a huge lifesize picture of Minnie ripperton and a bunch of l Memorabilia I was also able to Meet marcus Minnie' Rippertons son beautiful family

Inside My Love was the song that got me hooked on Minnie Riperton in 1975. I had a crush on a girl at that time. My family moved across town that year, and I never saw that girl again until 1980 in high school. The feelings were way gone by that time. Minnie Riperton made a lot of great songs that don't get recognized. Go through her discography. I will never forget when she passed away in 1979. That is the same year that we lost Donny Hathaway. I was told by the late Professor & Dj Richard Pegue of WVON Chicago, that Minnie Riperton would light up the room that she entered. She had such a beautiful spirit from what Richard told me. I use to work with two people that knew Minnie Riperton. I wish that I could have met her. The late Angela Charles of the Chicago Group Windsong is the only artist I ever heard that could hit 5 octave notes comparable to Minnie. RIH Minnie Riperton. The music industry should have appreciated you more when you blessed us with your presence.
