Im sure all of Anvil wishes that a simple necromancer still lived in that manor. XD
Wearing the Grey fox mask full time is a dangerous hobby 💀 Btw how do you poison people with the apple? Putting them into other people's pockets is enough? You're terrorizing Anvil and I love it
Yes it is dangerous, but mostly for everyone else LUL. I wear the mask fulltime because the game gets stale after all storylines are finished. Wearing the mask keeps it fresh, its fun to brawl with the whole guard at once when you go someplace, guards respawn after a while, and its a good way to level late game. In one playthrough I sat in the corner of the arena were only the guy you make bets with can see without the mask then put it on for a sec. he attacked, I took the mask off and ran to the guard. guards beat him mercilessly for about 30-45 mins before he could flee. from then on when he saw me he would flee immediately, and I could no longer bet LUL the poison apples mostly seem to work when an NPC sits down at a table and eats. I always thought the waterfront shack was cozy , with a lovely view outside , tied with bruma because thats my favorite city. DLC is a tie between Frostcrag spire and thieves den (pirate ship) depending if im doing a thief or mage run (or both?)
Same, there’s just something about that imperial city shack that gets me. I know a big part of it is nostalgia, because when I played oblivion in my kid years, I didn’t have the best grasp on how to play so the money I scrounged up was always just enough to be able to afford that house and its amenities. Not to mention I have fond memories of the beginning quest or two with the thieves guild and meeting armaund and the others at midnight, which I found to be awesome. I know the area is meant to be a run down and poor district of the city, but with the older nature of the video game and how the details (or lack thereof) come across, it just never felt poor to my younger self. Not to mention I thoroughly enjoy the music of exterior environments, such as Peace of Akatosh and Through the Valley to name a couple. These tracks do not play in city walls, and they’re among my favorite in the game. Combine those with the general ambience of the area created by the bells constantly ringing softly in the background, the creaking of the naval vessels, and the seagulls as well as the nature overlook near the shack itself and it’s just very peaceful and comforting. Not to mention the practicality of the location being the heart of the province.
I generally don't understand the point of homes in RPGs. The main thing you're doing is running around the world exploring, fighting and solving quests. The home is purely for storage. Skyrim added a few cool features like decorating, where you actively gathered resources and also got useful things in your home. But tbh once that's done, you only return each few weeks to store your cool items, not even saying hello to your wife and children lmao. Homes are only with big meaning in games like Sims
Great to see peaple making videos of this game, so old and still popular, this list was great, but i think you should have added priory of the nine, a great home, and lots of protection
@Treppo idk how he did it bc i was running it without mods but if you get the construction set and turn his aggression up to about 20 he should fight for you
I guess the house in Bravil isn’t really bad though, it just matches the poverty of the city it’s in. So I guess if you’re like a thief character or just like the gloomy, poor people housing aesthetic sure, go for it. But irl that house is what you get for $500k in California
It's usually been my go to on a criminal playthrough, because it has the fence right below. And that's a great comparison xD when I lived in Berlin (Germany) even rent was usually about as high as your wage if you wanted a 2 room apartment
If i ever get to build my own house, I'm building a modern version of Arborwatch (I did build that and the in-game version in the Sims 4, with some bathrooms by the stairs :). Chorrol is my favourite city in Cyrodiil and I just love that house.
Many years ago now i first played oblivion did the arena and found the Imperial City Waterfront House it took me a year before i found out you could buy other houses (a friend told me i didnt look online). To this day i still use the Imperial Waterfront house.
While it's not technially your house, theres a DB quest in Chorrol about Francois Motierre, and after the quest he leaves Cyrodiil, and he just so happened to live in a mansion. It's the biggest house in Chorrol, it has multiple chests, and it's not considering trespassing to walk in there, so you can use it as a house as much as you like. Imo, this is the best "house" in the game.
@@Treppoo No, not at all. Great video btw. Also I counted the chests up, theres 7 in total. Only downside, (if you can even call it that) is that the basement is locked behind and average lock.
If there's one thing that Leyawiin has going for it is that if you happen to be a furry- Sorry, a cat- Sorry, a Khajiit then both the city and house you can buy will feel like home. Why is this? Beacause if you've ever looked at a map of Cyrodiil you will quickly notice that Leyawiin (Along with Bravil..) are in fact attached to the country of Elsweyr and not Cyrodiil. Why are they then legally a part of Cyrodiil and not Elsweyr then? Beacause the Empire loves taking things that don't belong to them. Guess they are rather like Khajiits in that regard!
Damn, no buyable houses outside of the city? I kind of have 200000+ bounty on my head and would prefer living somewhere where guards won't bother me. So far, I live in a tiny shack outside of imperial city, and it feels good. Almost no guards ever come there. It is tiny, though.
@Treppoo Before I mastered stealth spells, they would die if they saw me. Now I am master of illusion, so I can feel safe around guards, but I still occasionally slaughter imperial watch in market district and in any other cities I come to, even if they don't notice me :3.
I played Oblivion as a teenager but not for long, so I couldn't afford any house, but I loved the atmosphere of Cheydinhal and wished I could buy the house there. Well, I finally fulfilled my wish about a week ago because I decided to try Oblivion again after about 15 years 😅 The house feels a bit small inside but I'm still so super happy to have it! @@Treppoo for me, i'll always prioritize coziness over space. which is why i'm a fan of the comedically overly-priced waterfront home and even at that point i still like bravil because it's got that poor working man aesthetic. i love the detail you mentioned of smash the wall to make a fireplace. and leyawiin has all those colorful and interesting paintings... all of the worst houses seem to have some kind of strength in spite of many weaknesses one thing i really dislike about bruma house is the unused fireplace. that alone brings it down one tier. anyway, that's it for me rambling incessantly about houses in oblivion. i think they're all pretty neat in some way. anvil is definitely one of the worst for me.
@@blunderless I could listen to you deconstruct oblivion houses all day :D It's true, they somehow never let any place be a 100% cool. But unique in its own way and no copy paste. Hole in the wall fireplace is of course OG stuff xD
I’m sorry, but the waterfront house is not bad at all. It’s the cheapest place, it’s centrally located, there are plenty of containers you don’t have to run around to get to, it’s right next to the thieves guild and arena, you can rob the entire market district… I always turn right around and level ip in the Imperial City.
Yess it's low key my fave too ;) just roasted it for the vid, but usually it's my only place I use for the most part until spending my money (which I can't spend on anything else) on the Skingrad house
@@Treppoo Good, lol. I can definitely understand roasting it (we sure could have had 2 houses in the imperial city), but I've had several playthroughs where I owned every house and still stayed in the imperial city. I think I'll look into which mansions there don't have container reset timers this playthrough... Maybe that's how I'll join the dark brotherhood. How's the Skingrad house for storage space? It will be a while before I can afford that, but I could dupe scrolls to check it out and then reload.
I might be weird, but I actually like Leyawiin house (and to sound extremly hypocritical, I do hate Bravil splum cesspit). Together with Cheydinhal it was amongst my most often purchased homes
Yoo that's awesome that you decided to play it, even though it's been released 18 (!!!!) Years ago. Just make sure to stay away from Bravil, it stinks to the clouds.
Disagree on the waterfront house, yeah the house itself sucks, but considering its ideal location(thieves guild) its a useful starting spot for you to store your stuff early game.
Is this really all the houses? Guess I am moving into the house next to the Dark Brotherhood not a fan of Nords so that house is off the market despite how much it suits me so second place home here I am
There's more cool places with the DLCs like a whole castle :D I just focused on the base game property Well it's quite useful having the dark Brotherhood nearby if there's some trouble with neighbors
Playing through this amazing game once again in my lifetime. Currently live in room 1 at Aleswell, can't decide what house to buy so here I am living in this tavern for free.
Rosethorn Hall (Skingrad) is obviously the best house in Oblivion that doesn't require a DLC. Rosethorn is a 4-story house with 10 storage chests and a maid. It's close to multiple merchants who give some of the best rates in the game, and Vigge in the Mages Guild charges magical weapons. It's the most expensive house and you have to have 15 Fame to buy it (and around 50k to furnish it fully), but that house is always my home base for every playthrough. The downloads have the best homes in the game, but I use a PS3 so I've never gotten to experience them.

The Thieving Empire shall be damned! Give it back to the pets.. uh I mean skooma addicts.. uh Khajiits
Damn, no buyable houses outside of the city? I kind of have 200000+ bounty on my head and would prefer living somewhere where guards won't bother me. So far, I live in a tiny shack outside of imperial city, and it feels good. Almost no guards ever come there. It is tiny, though.
What happens to the guards that come there tho? 🤔
@Treppoo Before I mastered stealth spells, they would die if they saw me. Now I am master of illusion, so I can feel safe around guards, but I still occasionally slaughter imperial watch in market district and in any other cities I come to, even if they don't notice me :3.
By the divines! Murder! Murder!
You won't become a knight of the nine now 🥲
I played Oblivion as a teenager but not for long, so I couldn't afford any house, but I loved the atmosphere of Cheydinhal and wished I could buy the house there. Well, I finally fulfilled my wish about a week ago because I decided to try Oblivion again after about 15 years 😅 The house feels a bit small inside but I'm still so super happy to have it! And yes I still love the town just like back then😄
And in another 15 years you'll live in the Imperial palace 😎
But can agree 100% on Cheydinhal having such a great atmosphere. Would live in a city like this irl
@@Treppoo Living in the Imperial palace wouldn't be bad! But hey I already rule the Shivering Isles and have a castle there, that's something right? Completing that expansion was actually how I earned the money for the Cheydinhal house, I did it before even saving Kvatch😆 Becoming a god just to afford a house...
Yeah I'd live in a city like Cheydinhal irl too!
What about the White Stallion Lodge? Sure you have to share with an Orc who's obsessed with killing Black Bows, but considering that it's basically free, it's the only house that I actually use.
At least you're never lonely 😌 it should be on my Tier List for the remaining places I excluded from this video !
Love the new content
Btw I really love full videos instead of shorts 🙏🏻😁
Thanks my man :)
Yeah sorry for spamming shorts ! I use it to grow the channel a bit, do you always get a notification?
@@Treppoo thats the problem nope I didn’t just on official videos but shorts not.
@@a.q9038 okay that's good, would be pretty annoying to get notified each time lol i used my older channel first to upload all the short stuff, but when I saw how it nearly got more subs than this one I decided to switch over here xD

I think the final one in Skingrad is the only one I ever had.
You always saved your money before getting a home? :D
although i like the cool satanic basement, i think the anvil house is super overrated because the design looks uncomfortable and bland, and lightning absolutely is trash
my favs are bruma, chorrol, skingrad, and the imperial city waterfront home.
the only thing that is below c tier for me is bravil.
Yeah you got a point 🥲
@@Treppoo for me, i'll always prioritize coziness over space. which is why i'm a fan of the comedically overly-priced waterfront home
and even at that point i still like bravil because it's got that poor working man aesthetic. i love the detail you mentioned of smash the wall to make a fireplace.
and leyawiin has all those colorful and interesting paintings... all of the worst houses seem to have some kind of strength in spite of many weaknesses
one thing i really dislike about bruma house is the unused fireplace. that alone brings it down one tier.
anyway, that's it for me rambling incessantly about houses in oblivion. i think they're all pretty neat in some way. anvil is definitely one of the worst for me.
@@blunderless I could listen to you deconstruct oblivion houses all day :D
It's true, they somehow never let any place be a 100% cool.
Leyawiin is beautiful :)
Very ironic how the only house with no lit fireplace is located in the coldest city in Cyrodiil.

Obviously DLC but best player home is obviously New Sheoth Palace
Oh ye that's my crib
Yeah the Leyawiin is the most disappointing to me because I am in love with the look of the average house there. Especially the Fighter's Guild

Yes arborwatch is dope ! And thank you Doug ! :D wall people for life!
Disagree on the waterfront house, yeah the house itself sucks, but considering its ideal location(thieves guild) its a useful starting spot for you to store your stuff early game.
Yes definitely :D I just had to put something on that spot for the vid so I took this shack.
But I used it on every playthrough too 🧙♂️
@@Treppoo Wish imperial City had a proper house or mansion though, oh well, i guess there are mods for that.
*Laughs in Dorian*
Is this really all the houses? Guess I am moving into the house next to the Dark Brotherhood not a fan of Nords so that house is off the market despite how much it suits me so second place home here I am
There's more cool places with the DLCs like a whole castle :D I just focused on the base game property
Well it's quite useful having the dark Brotherhood nearby if there's some trouble with neighbors

Here your new house: 🏡 with a garden !
Playing through this amazing game once again in my lifetime. Currently live in room 1 at Aleswell, can't decide what house to buy so here I am living in this tavern for free.
Tavern life is good life 🍻 having to find a place to sleep before leveling up makes finding a place to stay much more fun

there are some DLC homes also.

Very well explained my friend! It's the definition of Cyodiilian Luxury!! Maybe the city isn't that pretty, but the house is gorgeous!
Where the bathroom tho???
dang, you could've reached the 10 min mark if you actually ranked all the homes in oblivion lol
I didn't add the DLC ones :D maybe another day!
