    cool to have manufacturer competition in the heavyweight division! What really blew my mind however was the KTM790 time... only 5 seconds off the heavyweight times!

      that's insane indeed, but the 790 is soooo freakin light.. it's like a 300 with 110 hp and nearly all the electronics the super duke has

    Wow! Here, have some clouds just to remind you how far you are going to tumble if you get this wrong! Respect to Rennie.
    Altitude must make something that physical even more difficult as you get nearer the top.

      @@cyclenews I know that you probably don't still have this info at your fingertips, but I'm really struggling to get a clear understanding of how to activate launch control on my own 790. The instructions are a little vague in the manual. Think they are a little lost in translation. Is it as simple as switching on launch control and selecting 1st gear before giving it max revs and then dropping revs to 6,500 or will the ECU drop them to 6,500 when it's ready to launch. I'm not seeing any lights giving me a go!
      I've tried it once and judging from the fact that I nearly looped it I'm pretty sure that I didn't activate it correctly. 😂🏍💨👎🏼

    Good run, takes real Moxie to ride like that!

    Going through the cloud layer at that speed on those exposed corners takes some serious "attachments". Well done, and I'm sure 1st overall is soon to come!

    Well done Rennie! Were you having some ground clearance issues?

      sounds like pegs scraping

      @cyclenews  6 років тому +1

      I scraped the belly pan a couple of times, but the scrapes you hear are generally the front closing and me saving it by digging my knee in.

    Very confident ride👍🏻 From the engine sound I guess motor has far too short powerband to be a race engine.

    Great run, but it looks more slippery than last year and seems you didn't push as hard as last year due to that. What's the sprocket ratio.

    • @cyclenews
      @cyclenews  6 років тому +1

      It was crazy slippery. Sorry, not sure of the final drive ratio.

    I know that PP is very dangerous and each single mistake can cost you live. More over I'm not saying that I would be better but in my opinion this run could be much smoother. Rennie is freezing on the throttle on the corners sometimes and sometimes even his line looks like 50 pence . Don't get me wrong dude because this is amazing to take a race on Pikes Peak.
    I hope you have find spots to improve like all racers know they weak points.
    Good job.

    More time to be made up coming out of the slow turns and i heard bad chatter on one entry. Very impressive ride.

    Rennie or 'Brookie' as we knew him back in Australia was a bit of a wild child in his youth, he used to bring his GSXR into the Bar of the local Pub and back it into the Gents piss-trough & do burn-outs and leave rubber marks all over the porcelain, Quite a legend in town but he got put off-tap & barred for 5 years by the publican. So just because he's a one of natures gentleman don't make the mistake and think he's a softcock. Get a slab of those 'silver bullets Coors' into him over there in Seppoland and he'll fire up like Les Patterson.
