I am in recovery. I follow true crime so I know all types of people kill for money and also have killed for a lot less. I can say myself when in active addiction, you can get desperate but I have never crossed that line while others have. Whether it was an accident or intentional, I don't think it had anything to do with her being an addict. It has to do with the mental capacity of a person. But I do think it was an accident and just don't think her using drugs had anything to do with it. It could have happened to anyone who doesn't use drugs.

That’s a lot of dodgy police practice. From no Mirandising, interviewing someone with meth still active in their system, interviewing someone still in the midst of their grief, and falsifying key parts of the transcript. Not saying that there wasn’t a degree of accountability on her part, but there was too much reasonable doubt raised on those less than ethical practices. Defense team did a great job here for their client.

Remember, the Prison system, the courts, law enforcement are ALL CONSIDERED BUSINESSES NOW!!! What does a business NEED? CUSTOMERS!!!! In this " business", the customers are the those who get themselves in trouble AND those the business creates!!!! In this case, I believe she is innocent of murder. Involuntary or otherwise!!!!! But, the prosecution molds everything it can to prove one guilty and have thus... created a convict customer. More money for the system from another broken system.
I am not sure about the drug use having any part in it either, but also think it's possible. Doing man-made drugs or pharmaceuticals isn't good in the first place, but we really do not know if it made the situation. When you're in a panic, as she was, confusion sets in. Time is a blur. 5 minutes can feel like 10, or 2.
This case should have been dismissed as soon as they realized the transcripts were wrong!!! The prosecution should be ashamed. Fire the person that did the transcription!!!! Oh, and... The judge looks like a bum! A slob! WTF? SMH!

Soaking in the bathtub probably helped him feel more or helped soothed the pain too. I have neuropathy and it helps me by soaking in the bathtub. I think it was an accident and Gloria needed a live in nurse for him. That’s just to much on one person to be a soul caregiver and it’s sad that they had to divorce just to get extra help for him. When I was with my ex husband I got less help with our daughter who had disabilities it’s shameful that we had to not live in the same home together with our children in order to get help with her. Even when he filed taxes once a year the state would take money out of our daughters check all year. He wouldn’t hardly pay the bills because he was a addict if not for our daughters check I wouldn’t have been able to pay bills and keep a roof over our childrens head.

How is anything she said admissible if she hadn't been read her rights?? That's borderline corruption. My father was a lawyer and always said never talk to the police without a lawyer, its their job to prove your guilt it's not upto you to prove your innocence and nobody should be questioned when theyre high or drunk. I dont believe she murdered him.for 1 minute and I'm glad she was freed the poor woman will have to live with guilt for life and I hope she can forgive herself. I hope the police department and the DAs office were investigated. They use water as therapy for disabled people they float so they can fully relax because the water takes their weight and they don't feel pain.

Cops and the prosecutor's office tanked any chance they had of a murder conviction with that lack of Miranda reading and going cheap with the transcription service used for the recording's transcript.
Still, I think her lawyers did her a disservice by not arguing that the second portion of the interrogation where she allegedly confessed should be inadmissible since it was obtained following the first interrogation that wasn't mirandized. The only reason they insisted she sign the waiver at that point was because of what she'd said prior to being read her right to remain silent. "Fruit of a poisonous tree," as they say.
Also, the one guy was right about a flimsy motive. If the husband was going to leave which would cut off her caretaker stipend, then killing him intentionally literally makes no sense as a motive. Once he's dead, and she's no longer married to him anyway, she's left with no caretaker money and no access to his social security like a legal spouse may be.
The cops and prosecutors made OJ Simpson levels of mistakes here. There's _no way_ I would've voted for conviction if I'm on that jury.

It is used with people (like we're watching here) who are in horrendous mental, emotional, psychological, and drug/alcohol saturated brains, even MENTAL ILLNESS crisis.....and then they are asked: "Do you understand these rights?" I cry "foul" !!! When these folks either say"yes" or nod the head in the affirmative under such circumstances....they are doing it to "get this over with" in order to get on with whatever's coming next. Probably in a high percentage of cases people aren't even listening to what's being read....they are consumed with the trauma of the moment.

I think the sentence is fair. Using drugs is a choice and not a reason for a minor sentence. There was a lot going on in her life and him leaving her and by doing so leavingher without an income. She must have been desperate. But does that make you a killer? Only she knows. But by killing him there's also no income anymore.
What I think is weird is that people testifying that because there was nothing to support him in the bath means that she's guilty. Ofcourse she took everything out and emptied the bathtub; how could she've helped him otherwise ?
    RIP MARK

I know that police have a job to do, and they see terrible things. But when the homicide detectives go in assuming that the person is guilty, they have lost their objectivity. They should be looking at people with the assumption that they're innocent, then when evidence to the contrary comes up, they can make a note of it and investigate further. I believe these detectives were wildly overzealous, and assumed she was guilty before she spoke a word. Also, how ethical is it to question someone who is clearly not in their right mind?
My hope is that Gloria stayed clean in jail and stays clean now that she's out. Meth is a horrible drug, and it not only destroys people's lives; it destroys their brains. And the children of drug addicts are more likely to suffer abuse, if not from the parents, from people who are around the parents. I've seen too many people destroy everything when they use it.

This young woman never loved this man. Let's stop kidding ourselves. He was much much older and incapacitated in every way. Why would a 26 yo woman choose that life if she wasn't benefitting somehow? She was getting something out of it. A roof, money, etc. That's why she promptly divorced him to get state benefits. The things ppl do for money, smh. She's still amoral, and lucky she only got time served

    • @lilbitsleepy2574
      @lilbitsleepy2574 Рік тому +2

That’s a big assumption. I have read of plenty of instances of couples who had to divorce for financial reasons. Single moms get more $ from the state than married couples do and I remember this couple who had to divorce after 60+ years so that she did not get his millions of dollars of medical debt to pay off. That was so sad to watch, it’s stuck with me for ages.

Transcriptionist's, is this what people's lives are on the line for? You have to be kidding me, that's the worst science out there, trying to make out what someone said in a room with no people is difficult sometimes, let alone ambulances, police, your in the back of police car being interrogated by detectives, not regular police, but detectives that practically had to pull her off of him crying her eyes out, really, she's Spanish, there are different dialects and accents, this is awful that juries actually believe this as evidence, this is B.S!
