My current playthrough has me romancing Astarion and my friend romancing Karlach. They definitely get along quite a bit And my character is a bard with Anna as a singing voice claim! So, I always imagined my bard singing this song to the both of them!

Having never played baldur's gate all I can think of is that sounds like a tragic story of someone who unwillingly became a vampire. This would fit in a vampire the masquerade story and I absolutely love it
Interestingly the lyrics take on a far more sinister note when playing a character Origin in the game called "The Dark Urge" (which is the one playthrough that directly connects Baldur's Gate 3 to its predecessors 1 and 2) and understanding that this song is meant to be sang as a duet. Also, it's not meant as a romance song for any one particular character, but it's meant for multiple characters/companions and the instrumental version of the song plays in the background when just idling in camp with your group of companions.
